I have also fired my stylist for their choice of clothing for this video.
Is your stylist your Dad? 😆
why is this not more popular this is amazing
learned a lot by watching this
I'm happy to hear that! There will be more of these types of videos coming up so stay tuned 😄
“Setting out what I want to learn with my given piece, then making sure I get that done, not just fill the space as usual.” Sir. Sensei. I begin to be profoundly thankful that I found your stuff. I’m even learning to appreciate your manner of fantasy content.
Awesome video! I definitely overstress myself when I do personal pieces and just end up having a terrible time doing it. Love to see more!
I think it's quite a common issue, even amongst professionals 😕 As strange as it sounds, I think it's possible to relearn to have fun though and hopefully this video helps you out in some way 😄 More coming up sooon
This is such an important reminder. I’ve experienced similar small breakthroughs when I try to do something for fun without much preparation on the front end. And I’m always pleasantly amazed by the results by the end of it. I think what you ‘re saying here, that you have less to confuse you and more room to push around with small variation of additional reference after the fact is a big factor.
Really something to keep in mind. Maybe there’s a good way to incorporate this approach in professional work, too?
I love your character drawing! Such great form and style to it
Thanks Alex, I think what you said is right. Ultimately, I think it's great exercise to see how resourceful and creative you can get. Limitations breed creativity, after all!
I think it can be applied to professional work too, it's just that the "ingredients" that you choose have to have a particular flavor now based on your intent. Eg: If you are designing something that is supposed to be in a particular climate, maybe go for that has that kind of vibe. However, maybe the real twist is that you choose a winter based ref ;)
I think real creativity comes out when you just learn to let go and have fun and I think that's probably where we suddenly stiffen up as we feel that professional work has a lot more at stake. So I think learning to tap into that flow state and loosening up is the bigger challenge to overcome :)
Thanks for your comment and checking out the video!
This is so AWSOME!
Love how thoughtful your process is! Really insightful. I like that you mirrored the architecture in the character too.
Thank you Marb! I think those little details can help with making different assets feel like they're from the same identity 😃
Great video Jordan! really enjoy the insights of your process in creating your beautiful works!
Thank you! I'm happy that you found them helpful! 😊
Really appreciate the thorough commentary on this one. Great timelapse too!

Awesome video man 💚
Thank you Clement, glad you like it! 😄
As an artist I hear this advice like a slap to the face because I know it’s something I need to implement to improve. It’s scary because it’s harder to use less references in some ways but I know it helps force creative solutions. Thanks for the great vid!
I think there can definitely be a false feeling of security that arises when you fortify yourself behind a wall of reference. But it can end up being what imprisons you too 😅 It helped me realize that being more efficient and creative are definitely worthwhile skills to invest into! Thanks for checking the video out 😄
@@jtuffdesigns thanks for the great advice!!
Oh wow Ovopack is also one of my influence artist that I’m very adore of his work. I also try learning his technic about character design and try to interpret on my work such as his linework, character form and color. His work is very inspirational ❤️🔥
Yay, a fellow Ovopack enjoyer! :D I look at his art work time to time to get a boost of inspiration!
Nice video 🎉

Do you use any sort of paper texture screen protector on your iPad? Or do you have a stand for it to be more at eye level?
I have the paper texture but i've yet to get the stand. I think getting it would help me with my posture though 😅
What brush do you use for your lineart in Procreate? I love your work!
I use the HB Pencil for sketching and Tinderbox for Inking, both are included by default on Procreate!
Moar! Give me moar!
More to come soon :D

Art lu bagus” banget gilaakk, sangat menginspirasikanku esp teknik membuat Env/background🔥 kudos
hmmm looking like the lizard don't fit smoothly with the background , its like you stick it on the background. They are not harmoniously bound. Anyway nice try!
I believe it's the bold black outline on the character makes it stand out. You don't see that as much on this background. A brown/grey and thinner outline would make them merge more. Rim lighting would look nice on a few scales/spines. Love this art piece though!
everything one Earth is reference lol......to draw from imagination is to combine your imagination with reference. Dragon? You seen any real dragons? No must be reptiles, birds and dinosaurs...... getting tangled in this imagination/reference squabble is funny and a waste of time.
Awesome video I love seeing artists showing there process, thank you.
Thank you so much! More to come!
