@@andrs901 Imagine farming Titanite in any place other than Wintergrasp. Though, Saronite did give me lots of money on my server, at least. God I miss these days. Farming this route on an old Dell Latitude laptop at 40 FPS with low settings, RAM practically squealing with all the addons. Also, I miss the Carbonite addon.
Perfect zone, with the perfect music. I love how you know you've crossed the border into Icecrown; the skies darken, storm clouds appear in the distance, the music fades to silence... and then after a few moments, those drums kick in. They do a perfect job of selling the feeling that Icecrown is literally Death's Door.
Mister Babadook i did it with 2 friends and i managed to get to the gate of Icecrown and i explored every place of it with my dead soul. so i did not really get into it but i've seen it and i came all the way to the gate and all that with a LVL 17 paladin a LVL 20 warrior and a LVL 15 warrior
One of my favorite zones in the entire game. It's so dark and depressing, because this is the land where the Lich King himself rules from Icecrown with an icy fist. This is where the Scourge was created, which nearly extinguished all life on Azeroth. It actually felt unsafe to be anywhere that wasn't the Shadow Vault or the airships. The ground is literally covered with Scourge.
+antico You are treading on unholy ground. The playground of the Lich King, the home of the undead. And what's more, you always hear the whispers in the icy touch of the wind... "Frostmourne hungers...".
My favorite single piece of video/computer game music of all time, no question. The pipe organ is unparalleled and nefarious. This zone is a masterwork of theme and consistency. I don't care much for the argument regarding which expansion is the best or what not--but for me, the mood cast by this track and the penultimate doom surrounding the final raid on Icecrown Citadel is riveting and unforgettable.
When listening to this again, I got chills all over my body because it's so good. Then I thought, "this must be what every hero feels upon entering this frozen wasteland". If Icecrown was real, upon setting foot there, I'm sure you could feel the literal chill of death in the air sinking into your bones, making it all the harder for you to press forward.
+ponyta509 agreed, next to the massive forts of the scourge, the cold wasteland and te endless unrelenting army of the undead, even the biggest hero must feel really small and unsignificant
I remember the first time i flew into Icecrown. I was all like "why does this look like Mordor?", and then i saw all the elite undead mobs, Alliance and Horde soldiers fighting and dying everywhere, and the imposing sight of Icecrown Citadel and the battleships flying around. I love Icecrown, my favorite region behind Eversong Woods, Zul'Drak and Nagrand.
Haha good luck in Icecrown :P If you see anything cool, be sure to make a video of it and put it on UA-cam.... I'm on a quest to get the entire WoW world on UA-cam. No inch must be forgotten. Everything MUST be on UA-cam. Before they change everything again.
1:03 when you listen closely you can here a scary circus theme...i used to have a huge fear of clowns, this music plays childhood fears too, best song ever.
Ahhhhh... me puedo quedar minando titanio y saronita por el resto de la vida al estar acompañado por esta bella música de fondo. Amo la Corona de Hielo.
the tournament area ruined the mood I would be flying around listening to this COOL 'dum dum dum...' tune then it changes changes into festival music as I flew into that tournament section
I remember getting my cold flying perk and flying all over northrend. It was so cool and I was happy. Til I hit icecrown. I suddenly didn't feel safe I felt like I was in danger. That was sooo frickin cool! This is easily one of my favorite themes. I listen to it while I sleep ect.
The real WOW will never die . WOTLK and TBC were great but cata had new features . I had bought warlords of draenor and i really enjoy playing it and every expansion coming out is better from the previous one . But the best one will always be WOTLK
the opening drum beets set the mood truly awesome said bye to wow over a year ago after playing for how long? 6 years? cant really recall no regrets had wonderful time and wonderful buddies
Sadly, this was not played at the anniversary concert in Switzerland. They did play ICC music though, but was really looking forward to hearing the drums. Even if only for a few minutes
"On this day, I call for a union! The Argen Dawn and the Order of the Silver Hand will come together as one! We will succeed where so many before us have failed! We will take the fight to Arthas, and we will tear down the walls of Icecrown! The Argent Crusade comes for YOU, ARTHAS!!"
Wow you're completely right. When you mention it there aren't any critters or wildlife. There aren't any trees either, are there? That's amazing, I never even noticed that.
Every plague victim.....Every tortured soul.....Any last hope.....Every Argent Fighter slain....Every Dead city....Every innocent Cry....Every light fighter slain by frostmourne.........That's what i hear in 0:50-3:34.................I hear..Lich King's Wrath...And Artha's cries.........
Icecrown was a great zone. As soon as you enter you realize this is the beginning of the final stage. Plus it's literally the most evil and unforgiving place in the entire zone. I mean really, it's owned by death. lul 2sp00ky4me
i can feel it too, arthas is lost ...forever.. all things he did not destroy was because of Jaina Proudmoore ,she still would wait for him if she found out that is is not lost as she found frostgram..yes i think her love to arthas saved a lot of souls
@DralosVos Icecrown was that back in Warcraft 3. Since the Scourge have constructed it to a fortress, and constructed Icecrown Citadel. Thats why it isnt snowy and stuff.
To think I still do solo every week on so many characters. Not only does it have some of my favourite music but citadel has alot of my favourite looking items.
I quit WoW after Wotlk, because in my opinion the story was done. Arthas was the only remaining loose end from Warcraft 3 and the adventure was over. Nothing could ever top the endgame zones of WotlK, and the music has a lot to do with it. I still ocasionally just search these songs on youtube and enjoy them and remember the times when I still used to play this game....
Man, I liked Arthas, dude was badass. Honestly, everyone rages about what he's done, but that was either Ner'zhul before the merge or Arthas under Ner'zhul's control.
Funny cause, people thought the Lich King would end off Vanilla WoW. It seemed like it during his appearance at Kel'thuzad, but obviously with the difficulty of KT, a boss any harder would be near enough impossible to 60's :P
every single brave person, every single hero, every single champion who enters to face the leader of death the leader of the scourge, Arthas will never leave or will they become their own enemy?
Icecrown is the Mordor of World of Warcraft. In this ice-cold land, nothing living grows. In fact, no living things naturally inhabit this zone. It's crowded with undead of both twisted and gargantuan proportions. It's a bad place, and considered by many to be the most evil area in Azeroth.
I know, I liked that you could fly over all of Northrend without that hypogryph flight service. saved me a lot of money after I bought my first hypogryph.
Best expansion, best villain, best area, best music.
+Mobilone I hope you mean northrend by best area
+Da Cerebrus borean tundra was the worst zone
+IM BATMAN BORING tundra
Nuutti that's explanation enough to not go there
IM BATMAN Take the Howling Fjord instead
That one saronite vein surrounded by a dozen elite skeletons...
oh you know :D

2020: it literally is now ;)
Couldn't agree more, truly iconic if anything.
2022: It literally is now
Its like u travel from Metropolis to Gotham
that zone made you feel you are not supposed to be there in the first place, it felt menacing and intimidating :D
Not even the Maw can capture the menace of Icecrown.
That's more because of the dozens of npcs there.
@@captaindeadeye788 true, since icecrown was like the maw made real. that shit way scarier than some pocket dimension
players = crusaders
LK = DIO
Icecrown = Egypt
One does not simply walk into Icecrown.
Unintentional Martyr Y U fly there.

+Mister Babadook I took a boat from Stormwind, straight to Northrend. Walked all the way into Icecrown. I'm a Death Knight.
Well I didn't walk into Icecrown...
this shit looks like angband, too scared to go there

Same feeling in 2023
8 years later. Frozen wasteland would probably be the farthest north of Canada, Minnesota or Wisconsin

Icecrown and Storm Peaks baby, they were always my hangouts. Icecrown because of the mood, and the peaks for the damn TLPD
When I listen to this song, the chill of the Icecrown winds goes down my spine.
1:34 The sound of falling down, down, down.
Still the best expansion. I don't think they'll ever top this.

Yeah I noticed that a while back as well, adds a cool effect to the zone.
I don't think so
I think they added that because of prof Putricide
This is a bit late…. But you should go listen to “entrance of the gladiators”
Icecrown is like mordor with snow and ice
Unlike mordor, this one has more than 5 eyes on towers isntead of 1 which is more creepy than mordor
+Boss of Avernus And a plethora of Ziggurats and Citadels.
Icecrown is way cooler, though. Pun intended.
Best expansion that ever existed in the World of Warcraft Universe.
The most wonderful music and the most wonderful country full of mysteries!
And full of saronite!
@3:37 I love the attitude in the music!
Wow i loved this song in game. But never heard the song in its entirety like this. Blizz has some talented musicians
Uh,this is the actual gate to The Maw.
BEHOLD THE FREEZING HELL
I have no words to explain how beautiful and perfect is this song for me
Ahhhhh... me puedo quedar minando titanio y saronita por el resto de la vida al estar acompañado por esta bella música de fondo. Amo la Corona de Hielo.
I remember Icecrown rather fondly, good quest lines, great raid experience for the Citadel, awesome flash back quests, very true to the book.
How many times have I heard this while flying on my daily route for saronite ore and titanium was it :P?
They did a good job on making the music feel like frozen wasteland. Lit up sky at night from the snow reflection to the clouds
the tournament area ruined the mood
I would be flying around listening to this COOL 'dum dum dum...' tune then it changes changes into festival music as I flew into that tournament section
Fun Fact: That was supposed to be in Crystalsong Forest, but Dalaran lagged the zone out too much so the tournament got moved to Icecrown
Well i guess it did kinda ruin the immersion a wee bit but it worked out mostly
Not that much: trials of crusader was like a ray of light into the cold of death

"One does not simply walk into Icecrown."
The icecrown music fits the zone really well
I like how through the music it is drums making the main part and the suddenly at 4:30 they go away and only tubes are left to play that part.
the opening drum beets set the mood
truly awesome

Best expansion and a Lovely freezing hell. The best Music, areas, raids/ instances and perfect max lvl

As Uther said to Arthas long ago, "Easy there lad, you can't hope to defeat a man who controls the dead all by yourself."
I'm not playing anymore. But... Music in WoW is awsome.
When you get killed 4 times before realizing that you cant attack Arthas while he is in snow moe move...

no living things anymore.. but back in the day this place was teeming with life
Agreed, the Storm Peaks music is prolly the best WoW soundtrack of all. But Icecrown is really great too.
Had to get exalted with each faction again, took about 2 weeks per one lol. A challenge indeed.

It's like war is coming sakjhsda beautiful
Lovely stuff, Blizzard.
Bum bum bum bum BUMBUMBUM
I wish they would of made Icecrown differently, from the cinematic trailer i expected it to be very snowy yet unforgiving

I just ca'nt believe that was 7 years ago...I'm feeling confused :)
And another 7 years.
The most darkness place in the warcraft history... I guess...
I am getting cold when I am flying over there.
sa me rend nostalgique de WOTLK.... la Citadelle pour moi la meilleure région de Norfendre, vive Arthas et les Dk!^^
