I've been using this exact Redback UBBK boot for about 20 years now. I'm a mechanic and they last me about 3 to 4 years before they start to seem worn out. They do tend to be a bit uncomfortable until they break in. My feet are sore for the first week or two with a new pair. I freaking love them!

I have owned 2 pairs of Redbacks in the past 13 years....I wore the soles out on one pair and gave them to a friend who wanted them....the others I have had for 6 years and I wore them everyday while working in the hot and wet areas of a sewage disposal plant...great boots...and price is very fair...less than 200 and made in Australia.

I love your video. I work in a power plant in the northeast region. I have to work outside, at times shoveling snow on ID fans platform. I have the steel toe version, wool socks won't work as well as ski socks. Otherwise they are great. As well as all the above you said, chemical, oil... however we burn number 6 oil in my plant, so when there is a leak of #6 oil it'll destroy any kind of boot. That oil gets everywhere. I still would buy another pair because walking around for 12 hours shift day and night they are comfortable

Thank you! I appreciate that! The steal toe version doesnt stay as warm as the none steel toe, but your right wool socks dont help that much. I might have to get some ski socks. But they are one of the most comfortable shoes I have owned.

best boot in the world if you walk/stand on flat concrete all day. This is the perfect boot for a mechanic or machinist. the review is true that if you size them properly the boot will be tight for about 2 weeks but they get in their sweet spot about 2 months in. i replace mine about every year to a year and a half... then use my old ones for home use and the new ones for work.

But from my experience the most comfy boots are going to be from year or two old. When everything broke in and formed with your feet.

Thanks for the review bro! Appreciate it from Belgium. Mine are also true to size size 10 UK - 44 EU. I tried half a size down but they felt too snug and somewhat afraid of not being able to break them in lengthwise I opted for my usual size. They were somewhat loose around the ankle though so I added an extra insole. And use the appropriate thicker socks aswell. If I can make a suggestion try a heavier sneaker running shoe type insole on top of the factory insole or replace completely. Even more comfort and stability that way. Factory insoles are too thin generally as in this case I noticed. Now I just need to find myself a job at a carwash for the full experience! Cheers

There true to size for me. Also, the size is Australian size on the boot. So, a 7 1/2 size on your boots is an American 8 1/2.

Really a fan of Easy Escape. I have the Easy Escape HD steel toe. The difference between the HD is that it has a great double stitched toe guard. The stitching really gives the boot a great aesthetic that secures itself as a top boot.
Used to use these for plumbing related work.
Now I currently use these in a restaurant kitchen, they were kinda slippery at first, but after about 3 hours of first day usage, they adjusted to the slippery kitchen floor.
I do agree you should go into a store and try these on. I used to wear the AUS 11 but my local retailer finally got half sizes and I was thankful to confirm that AUS 10.5 is a much more comfortable size. It’s amazing how great they feel when having a half size.
I also think the steel toe helps prevent the floppy toe you’re referring too. I remember one of the first pairs I had kinda stretched and once your foot starts moving around it just gets worse and worse
I highly recommend getting the steel toe HD version.
These boots kick ass, the red tongue tags are so signature :)

@@53af00d I ended up exchanging them for the next half size up. For me, that was true to size (after converting.) They felt more secure on my foot as they broke in because the leather was not as stiff. Your foot should not have room to slide, but they should not be snug either. People that say you should size down probably wear shoes that are too big. They get away with it by tightening the laces.

You said you went another half size down because of the stretching--do you think that would still be necessary with a steel toe? I'm a newly certified EMT and the steel toe version caught my eye.
edit: btw you also said they were rambler leather, but it looks like smooth leather on video. (rambler leather is $120 on amazon, not $170. any idea what's up with that?)

    • @livingpacificnorthwest1351

My coworker has the steel toe and we both have the same size foot and boot. So I would say yes, even with the steel toe you would have to go a half size smaller. And my coworker was an EMT before this job and he absolutely loved these boots for the job, but did say the steel toe after a long shift seemed a bit heavy.( IDK if thats him being lazy or actually noticing a difference)
As far as the rambler leather I was reading the Specs, I personally dont know the difference but i would agree it does look like full grain smooth leather.
