    Great job Glyn.
    My hitchcocks locking pin was the same, had to file it down to fit. You were lucky with the top cam lock tool. Mine were over sized, so had to file both pins to fit. A few guys have had the same problems.
    Your bikes coming on well.
    Yet again another great video. Thanks.

      ahh it wasn't just me then. I thought I must have gone down a very wrong path. You can see the locking hole through that hole so might have been able to lock it up with a suitable smaller bolt and some insulation tape. I'm glad the cam lock worked!

    Excellent video Glyn da iawn! great explanation of the torque wrench, remember years ago welding two bits of square section steel ( from a door handle) into an L shape, and using a "Little samson" fishing spring balance to set the torque on a cam belt tensioner in my old Citroen BX, all ft/pounds in those days!, worked a treat!
    Look forward to seeing the bike back together again. Stay safe....Pete

    • @GlynOC

      Thanks Pete, it was a lot easier to work on them then when you could get near the dirty bit without taking all the front to bits. The BX was an awesome car! Wheels are back on the bike now so you should see that this week👍

    Hi glyn. Love this video. I did the camshaft last month (with help of tiger ness video). I dropped the chain so had to find tdc again. I got the stainless steel tool from hitchcock and that fitted perfect.

    Thanks Glynn,well what can I say interesting to say the least,took me back a bit 10 years actually to when I was working as a mechanical technical instructor in the nuclear industry, did all that torque tightening technique with the lads n lasses, interestingly use a spring balance for sideways pull at 1mtr, there are of course many ways to ensure correct stretch of a fastener to within its elastic limits, and it all came back,thank you again cannot wait for next instalment,Ted NW biker dude alias Bay Bimbler

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  2 місяці тому

      Of course, a spring balance, that would be far better than a bottle of shampoo. I wish I'd mentioned it. I hope it doesn't come apart after all those checks, that would be really unfair! Thanks very much for watching and stopping by, Glyn

    Loved the video, at least now your timing is spot on, very strange how the crank locking tool was oversized, but you sorted it, if i ever do my cam i think ill stick a brill bit in 😂, be interesting to see how the cam changes the performance of the bike, i was going to do the same on my Himalayan, but since reducing the rear sprocket by two teeth im so impressed i decided not to change the cam, love the torque wrench....... Colin ☺️

      Thanks Colin, how's your storm season going? A drill bit would be absolutely fine, you can see the hole through the outer case and could easily do a visual check too, probably the same with the top too, if you stuck a bit in it and made sure it was perpendicular to the head. Cheers, Glyn 👍

    Don't forget that the 1m long rod/tube also has a mass that you must take into consideration. The weight of that rod is also acting to turn the bolt. So you in fact applied 9.81 newtons plus the weight of the rod to torque the bolt. If your 1m long rod was heavy enough, you wouldn't even need the bottle of water.

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  3 місяці тому +1

    Excellent video! I'm about to try this procesure. First time for something this involved on a bike. If the TDC had been off at the cam before bolting the sprocket back on, how to correct?

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  Місяць тому +1

      The sprocket can move on the bolts so lots of adjustment, just get the crank in the right place with the tool or by looking through the hole and lining up the lock hole (down by the crank), then fix the cam so that the hole on it goes straight upwards (using lock tool or a handy rod/eye. Make sure the chain is tight at the front as in the video👍

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  3 місяці тому

      The shaft has an endless set of teeth on the bottom and splines on top, it doesn't matter where it is, you just put the clutch arm on the splines on top when you're ready to fit the cable 👍

    So, here's a few. Why are you choosing Royal Enfield 350's to work on? Why not a 650 or a different brand? Lastly, would you sell the bikes you've worked on? I suppose you'd only get book value which would be pants after all the time and money you've put in. Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Keep up the good work mate. 😊

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  2 місяці тому +1

      ahh well, I guess for the same reason everyone watches Classic 350 videos! There's just something about them isn't there and I can't be doing with an old one with carbs and whatnot, the new injected ones start and run so nicely. They're the best value too, I'd like a Harley project but even old junkers cost as much as a nearly new Classic! Interceptor would be great but they don't come up often and I can't think of anything I want to do to one that hasn't already been done. Def not for sale, I'd rather just sit on them at home🤪

    • @jez6208
      @jez6208 2 місяці тому

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  2 місяці тому +1

      I do keep an eye out and there's an Interceptor auction finishing later but it's already over £2k and it's a complete dog, needs total refinishing and rebuild and it's just not worth it now unless you really want it. I have got an idea for the next one though🤪
