Def good stuff, fixed my Harley front tire, ran it for over 3K miles but now I need to replace that tire, not sure how hard it’ll be to remove the bead sealer…guess I’ll find out!
I looked up the product and can't see if there is a working time limit. Does the stuff dry fast? What if you have great difficulties setting the bead and takes a long time to inflate (happens to me often)?
Glad for your successful fix. Your success depended on your good effort of cleaning the rim. Bead sealer has to be the most inappropriately named product ever. We used it on customers' tires mainly for show but the real problem needed to be remediated first as you did.
The hardest part for me was breaking the bead, I think it took atleast an hour for both sides. Also at first I tried using scotch brite but was getting nowhere and I used a wire wheel. It wasn't corrosion I forgot to clean the bead sealer off from the last tire change oops.
At least you're making your own repairs. Lately, esspiecally since COVID, many businesses have begun shady practices. It may have been easier to pay a tire shop $50 or so to use wheel & clean, but who knows if they just add bead sealer & call it a day?
If you ever need tp do it again, use a longer plank of wood and another small piece of wood as a wedge (cut at 45 deg and placed right at the bead-rim intersection. Then use a heat gun to warm up the area, then start from one point and use the lomg wood to press that wedge down into the tire and move to an adjacent spot and reapeat after the third spot, itll probably break. It works pretty easily and fasy that way.

15 bucks in your driveway isn't all that bad considering most garages would dismount the tire and wire brush the rim to clean it put bead sealer on remount the tire and balance it put back on the vehicle your looking at 30 to 50 bucks just for the simple fact that most places charge 20 to 30 just to balance a tire hey they have to keep the lights on and pay their personal but if you can DIY it that's even better
@@1995dresser I agree with you 100%. IF you're bored, like I get. I would do the repair myself too. I think the guy was looking at it from a general man's eyes as opposed to people who are DIYer's or somewhat mechanically inclinded. $15 for bead sealer can get you at least 30 tires before it runs out if used sparingly. Depends on the type of person you are. If you do tire repairs for a living than it's worth it, but only on your own cars, maybe not unless you do friends/family for extra cash on side.
I have a small engine repair shop. I use this stuff at least once a week. Works great.

A lot less messy if you wipe the brush off completely first then dip just the bristles. Great video tho.
Is the bead sealer a temporary fix? Would you need to get a new rim later? Thats what I've been told by the tire company

Usually, it is. But you need to have it applied every time you get tires. Aluminum rims are the worst for corrosion.
All that effort and $15 on the stealer I would pay a garage to do it
