You did just fine. It don't make a fiddlers behind which way you use them bars.Like you said, as long as you get your tire off and back on. The only thing I know that's a must is taking the tire off the correct side.
It just ain't no getting off the wrong side. I owned and operated trucks for 45 years. Many busted nuckles, broke fingers, steel splinter. I miss it Wish I could go out and hurt myself tomorrow. But life is good here at the old folks home. No scales..no cops..no DOT... no log book...no 3:00 am delivery appointments and no traffic jams. Y'all have a great day. Later on😎🇺🇸
i have made the mistake of trying to take them off the wrong side....didnt take much struggling to see what i was doing wrong.

Thank you J.C. for saving half my life. I have a classic '72 Chevy Suburban with the rusty slow leak blues. The previous owner had new tires put on, but the shop that did it didn't correct the rusty bead issues. Now it's my problem but not to worry because generous guys like you are willing to share their knowledge and experience to help others. I just received my Ken-Tool tire irons and ordered the other stuff I need to fix the problem. I'll follow your lead and get all the rust off the wheel and tire beads, paint the wheels and remount the tires. Thanks again for your great instruction video. You're a gem. one of these days i want to get a tire machine for the smaller tires, ones like you did in this video is about the smallest ill do manually, much smaller and its worth it to me to pay the tire shop...lol semi tires are easy
i would rather do an entire semi truck and trailer tire change than to do those little lawn mower tires!
I made some gouges in the paint on the bead sealing surface of my motorcycles rim. Will those scratches affect sealing?
The needle core in the valve stem is called a Schrader Valve
I tell guys all the time to make sure the tire guy cleans the wheel before putting on a new tire because even on aluminum wheels there’s rubber build up that can cause small leaks and depending on the temperature, big problems later on.
Tire rack in these parts does it all the time... little more $ all said n done but, well worth it... Shrader locally for big truck tires... both shops CARE👍
With the valve stem out, I just hold back on the connector on the end of the air hose and push it onto the valve stem .
That allows full line pressure in to inflate the tire. I usually have the tire standing up like you did.
Like anything else, your mileage may vary. You got it down pretty good though.
If the tire's no good, we just break the bead with the backhoe bucket...
I wish I had those tire irons though...lol
I tried popping a 13.6 x 36 tractor tire off. No luck it was stuck bad. Hadnt been off for say 30 years. Vechicle tires and lawn tractor tires i use a ratchet strap to squeeze the tire and the beads seat fairly easy. I have a nice tire chuck now that clamps on and has a blow nozzle handle with tire gauge about 3ft apart. Works nice. Brother had a flat on his tractor and had the tire shop break it down and i told him needed to paint the rim. Tire had been on that tractor 40 some years (guessing) never been loaded and had 90% paint still but still cleaned it and did quick rattle can job. I was going away for weekend so i just did tire side not the side you see. My rims had been fixed (calcium chloride for many years) on my tractor and i just replaced them and didnt want same for brother
i have used the ratchet strap method a few times with success. some of those old tractor tires can be really tough....patience and persistence usually wins.
@@j.c.smithprojects helping with a tractor tire on friends farm we laided it on the ground and backed a ford 5000 tractor onto the tire and that 5000 had loaded tires with wheel wieghts and still didnt pop the bead. Old tires can be a royal pain

Worked at a tire shop for 2mo in the 70's..Had all the safety devices at time but i couldn"t stand to hear the popping of the sealing beads..Found a tech job that did fewer tires and IT WASN'T ME..

that sure can be irritating. airing up a tire before you use the machine gets time consuming.
I have a small leak on the outer bead. Very small. Couldn't I remove the core, and but some slop around the rim, and refill with air? It's on a non rusty aluminum wheel.

on nicer wheels i use a rug or a piece of carpet so it doesnt get scratched.
Have you ever tried tire paste? I use that my shop .it doesn't spill . It never failed somebody was bound to kick it over then you have soap all over the place.lol
agreed. this is a soap paste i guess. you dont add water. just use it straight.
whatever we do, do it right the first time. I like the long irons, mine are too short.
they are helpful for the larger tires for sure.

Just a curious question but do you ever use the ether trick to set beads when working with equipment tires or big tires?
i dont. i have never needed to. i have a air blast tank to help seat beads. it has worked every time so far.

I bought the harbor freight tire changer just to break beads.

David Cotrell I used to run them on one tons and dump trucks because they were readily available where I was and cheap. Always had problems with cord separations.
