One of the factors that made this race so great was that after pit stops there were suddenly pace differences of more than two seconds which led to more or less interesting strategies (Hamilton) instead of the normal "take the hardest tyre after ~1/3 of the race distance and cruise to the finish on it"
I'm not a Ferrari fan, but I absolutely *loved* that Kimi won! Even better, it was such a great fight for so many laps between three of the most exciting racers on the track. Though like others, heart sank for Ricciardo. It's not fair :(
Btw, I think Ferrari told Vettel to let Kimi through because he stood the best chance of winning. By winning he kept Vettel's championship open because of the difference in points for the podium places. It made perfect sense for once.
Ngl, I genuinely thought Merc would get points for the GTA San Andreas reference.

By far my favorite race of the season - arguably the best race of the season. But at very least my favorite! 🇺🇸
Can I just point out that Brendon Hartley started from last, and ended up finishing 11th, but after disqualifications finished 9th, in a Toro Rosso powered by Honda. That is a great drive, that is why Hartley should be on the grid in 2019

COTA's social media team are complete legends. During the lead-up to the 2016 United States Grand Prix, Haas F1 asked their followers on Facebook what turn was the best to sit at during the race, and COTA responded with something like, the correct answer is all 20.
So I'm from Germany, and the funniest thing for me was : at lap 28 the commentator says Lewis can drive with this soft Tyres also at the Mexican gp 3 laps later the Tyres from Lewis starst to blister 😂😂😂
Lewis went too fast, he could've slowed down to protect tyres and go to the end.
But everybody nows that the RTL commentators are the stupid and have no plan of Formula 1. They just now how they can promote their car lottery tbh😂

Best Grand Prix of the season for me. This US GP is the first F1 GP I have ever attended, although I have been watching and following for years. Entering the grand stands along the start / finish straight and looking into Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull garages, I nearly cried. And then again, being a Kimi fan, his victory for the first time in five years. Danny Ricc's retirement from the race, Max storming through the field and battling Lewis, Vettel's recovery after spinning. Could not have asked for a better first race, so emotional.
You could say vettel had an unlucky spin against Hamilton, but the other 2 were his own fault, then you factor in Germany where he crashed out, Baku where he locked up going to aggressive against Bottas? Maybe vettel just ain't all that? And just shows how good that red bull really was!
Kimi's last win was actually Australia 2013 Matt. Great video as always, especially the Homer Simpson "Squirrel!" moment at the end. I remember Kimi's first win in Malaysia. He's always been my favourite, if for no other reason than the fact that he radiates cool in a Steve McQueen kind of way and there have been times when I honestly didn't think he'd win again. As you said, best race of the year. Wonder how many other guys in their 50s were jumping up and down in their living rooms when Kimi crossed the line. Couldn't be happier for him. Do you think Ferrari is letting the wrong driver go? Imagine Kimi as a mentor to your lad Charles! Epic.

Matus Vincze ferrari fucked him over and he didn't exactly do much to convince the fans as well. Stupid strategy from ferrari in Italy to let kimi fight with seb, and then all of their supposed "upgrades" apart from front wing bombed the car. They've actually gone back to specifications of 3 months back to be competitive again, now that's blowing the season in some fashion.
