PPV related content. There are plenty of feature update videos. I'm more looking for the how to use those in a way that has an actual benefit and that in the PPV context which is about improving your quality of life, not just having cooler systems :)
I’d love to learn more about formulas and coding and how this could also enhance the PPV system. I’m not using automations yet, as I’m still building and integrating the PPV system into my life to a level that I really make use of the pro features. Your videos are a great inspiration and they help me to find and integrate new features! Keep up the good work 🙏
Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. That's super helpful, and it makes me very happy to hear that it's been of value to you. Keep up the awesome work.
Do you know of a good way to start typing text in a Notion page but keeping multiple lines into 1 text block instead of Notion creating a new text block for each line of text? I use a workaround using a code block (JavaScript is the default), but that doesn't have spelling correcting and text formats among other things. I would really appreciate any tips. Thank you!!!
I have some forms that I need to give the link to outside users to have the ability to fill out. I don't want it public for everyone to see. Is there a way that I can give them access by just having the link without having to add them as invite only?
You can either make it public - but on a link that's hidden from SEO and hard to find. In fact, it's nearly impossible to find unless you send it to them. Or you can invite them by email as a guest to the page. Those are your two options.
Regarding the automation If you consider to make an automation video where important is to emphasize what is on free plan what is on paid plan. I belive it is a big question for many (me included) to decide whether to use Notion automation capabilities (on paid plan) or use external tool for automation (such as Make or Zappier). Again great video August, thx 😀
Yes, great point - that needs to be clearly defined as the various layout automation uses are presented. Generally, right now, button automations are free, but database automations need to be on a paid plan. As we do any demos, I'll be sure to keep that clear. Good feedback. Thank you!
Hi August - can you assist me with this formula please? These are based on trying to calculate the date/time b/w 2 rollup properties. I have tried this: format(dateBetween(dateEnd(End), dateStart(Start), "hours")) + " hr " + format(dateBetween(dateEnd(End), dateStart(Start), "minutes") % 60) + " min" ERROR: Argument of type array does not satisfy function dateEnd(). [27,28] Argument of type array does not satisfy function dateStart(). [41,42] Argument of type array does not satisfy function dateEnd(). [93,94]
Good question. Not currently, however, I have heard the head of the Layouts product area say that this is just the first step, and there's a lot more coming with the layout capabilities. So, I do expect to see that at some point. My guess is they're going to extend the layout possibilities beyond just properties throughout the page and the footer - but that's just a guess at this point.

The layouts don't work in wiki pages. Even worse, we can no longer reposition properties order in wiki pages. Love the feature but I really hope they bring it into wikis. It is kind of a miss in this regard, espcially since all my databases are wikis (clients, orders, invoices, etc.) and that it's not possible either to revert back to a page without losing all properties from the wiki. They should work on this. Great detailed video!
That is frustrating if we lost some of the wiki page flexibility. However, this is just the first iteration of layouts. There are definitely more expansions of these capabilities coming and already in development. Your approach of building everything into Wikis is a smart and sophisticated setup. So, I too would be disappointed if they introduced new functionality that didn't work there. One of the ideas of Wikis is that you can use it expansively, as you have. I have to think they're going to bring the capability fully into Wikis - it's just too important of a foundational element.

The COO of Notion said he expects to see them fully rolled out by the end of the day today - but at the very latest - Monday or Tuesday, for everybody. This includes forms, layouts, and automations. Regarding Notion Mail What are the possibilities to use Notion Mail with Notion CRM system? I have seen that Monday can be setup as CRM system with email sending receiving capability of the CRM It would be fantastic to build Notion CRM system (which I have) and incorporate with Notion mail capabilities (which I wish to have). I hope you understand my thinking... 😃 Thx August on all replies on my questions. You rock 😍
In its current stage of pre-release development, it cannot do any of that. That's what I was talking about with contacts in the Notion mail app. Ideally, syncing with databases in your Notion system - that Notion database would be a CRM. I and others have sent this feedback to Notion, encouraging this, and I'm quite confident we'll get it eventually. The question is how soon and how close to the public launch? Only time will tell, but I agree with you - this is essential.
They're rolling them out to all users over the next couple of days (Layouts, Forms, and Automations). The COO of Notion said he expects to see them fully rolled out by the end of the day today - but at the very latest - Monday or Tuesday, for everybody. This includes forms, layouts, and automations. Of course, this does not include Notion Mail.
They're rolling it out gradually to all the users over the next few days. Not everybody has it on day one, but you should have it within a few days. Hope this helps!
Sort of. You can have them submit the form and have automations process outcomes as a reaction from that. You could have it sent using the new email actions functionality that was also just recently added to automations. But it would be a little bit clunky and somewhat limited. Though, to some degree, it is possible.
It's not available in the current stage of development, but I really think this is inevitable. There's no way it can be developed ultimately without that capability, and really, I think a lot more integration than just that. You should be able to select any of your knowledge management databases or tasks - or anywhere an email might be relevant. I'm very optimistic about this. Unlike the calendar, this is being built from the ground up entirely as a Notion app, so that's usually promising.
In the current early stage of development, you cannot add more than one email account. However, I'm certain they're going to add the ability to have multiple email accounts. The question is whether they will have it by the time they launch it publicly. I would have to assume so, but I don't know that for sure.
Thanks for another brilliant video. I know the features are still in their early stages and - IMHO - therefore slightly disappointing due to some missing key integrations features. Email (as you say) really needs full integration into core Notion. And although they might introduce it later, I rather fail to see the point of it without the integration. The Form feature feels even more of a half-baked release. Forms that do not have the ability to integrate into existing databases (incl. relationships drop-downs etc.) are just not really replacing any 3rd party form builders such as NoteForms that are already out there. It's limited and basic and sadly multiple steps behind existing tools rather than overtaking them and making them obsolete. I know this is all just early stages, but I keep feeling mildly underwhelmed by Notions recent "improvements" which increasingly hit below the mark at the point of release. Notion AI just being one more example.
Fair points on the pros and cons. However, Forms can be applied to existing databases. You do not need to start one from scratch - you can apply Forms to any database you already have in your workspace. I would say forms are a mid-tier level of functionality, but with a very simple, intuitive way of working and effortless integration into your databases. So, it is quite nice, but it doesn't replace the high-end form builders if you have more sophisticated needs.
Good comparison! Notion is becoming more and more expansive. They started with more flexibility and less of a specific point of view, which allowed for a wider range of possible uses. Google and Zoho began with a suite of apps that were all very specific. Now, Notion is filling in with those specific apps. It will be interesting to see where Notion ends up relative to those two models - it seems like Notion is trying to do the best of both at the moment.
The email product is interesting, the rest is just new makeup that looks very manual and can be reproduced (even optimized) by a very simple integration
You don't think Forms, Layouts, and Formulas in Automations are significant enhancements? All internal and perfectly integrated. External integrations are never the same, always have significant shortcomings in my experience. Layouts in particular can't be replicated externally. What would you most like to see implemented in Notion?
As a heavy Excel user I always found notion formulas illogical. I would love to see real applications for various scenarios to finally understand how they work
Ehh, ok. I've got too much to do as is let alone tinkering with layouts. That's a mini-rabbit hole. Email? Naa. On the surface these are nice but the constant complaint w/ power users is speed. The more they put into the software + the larger DBs get, the slower it runs. After I compared coda's formulas w/ notion, I don't bother w/ notion formulas anymore. Thanks for the updates August
Fair enough, they're just options. And we certainly live in a world of abundant options these days. When designing a system, you can set the layout for key databases once, set and forget, and then get back to work. It really doesn't take much time. But you're also right that a lot of people fall down the tinkering rabbit hole - and that's counterproductive as well. Sounds like you've got a good sense of awareness of where that line is for you. Totally respect that. Appreciate the feedback!
@@augustbradley I agree now w/ your thought about setting the layout a little here and there and moving on. I like how one can do that in obsidian & tana so anything similar-ish to that is helpful. I think too much fiddling is where so many ppl have trouble w/ notion, obsidian, etc. A plethora of plugins and they're so customizable. I've been using PPV for almost 4 yrs now and stay away from tinkering w/ it too much
hi bradly! yes, I would like to go deeper into formulas. also, how do I "send email" for "to do date: today"?. I would like to send a reminder the same day, no if I create an action for next month, the automation email is send a month prior that task priority
I agree with you on both Layouts, and on Notion Mail needing integrations to become usable in my workflow. We're on the same page here. Good feedback. Thank you!
Good Video but it was very hard to see what you were clicking on and what you were doing with the black back ground on your screen, I like to click along but with the black it seemed all blurred and I hope in the course you move slower, for me it was all moving to fast. Thanks for the content
Thanks! All my UA-cam videos are 4K resolution in the very highest detail level possible - it sounds like your auto-quality resolution setting was set too low by UA-cam (you an over-ride this manually). Nothing is blurred if it's set to a high resolution in your video player. Just go into your video player settings in the lower right corner (the sprocket icon), and change the quality settings to the highest level - screenshot here: cln.sh/z1B4fQ5S . Dark mode vs light mode background does not affect sharpness. Hope that helps! And yes, we go much slower in shorter, more topic-focused steps in the courses. The course videos have very high resolution and are recorded on highe-end (high bit-rate) cameras & screen recorders.
Notion leadership and product development is certainly further out pushing AI than the general user base. Will be interesting to see if the user base catches up to the vision. Notion AI is certainly not essential at this stage, but it can be helpful.
I think it's a nice, elegant experience. However, it doesn't have any real features that set it apart at the moment. I think that's coming - perhaps a little slower than we would like, but I believe it's coming with much deeper and more thoughtful integration with the Notion core app.
Fair enough, not everything is for everybody. I personally think these are some fantastic expansions, but I totally respect that it doesn't really move the needle for all workflows or all styles of working. What would you find most interesting and exciting for Notion to add?
I would love to see an indepth video on formulas! Especially in how it could fit in the PPV universe 🙂

@@augustbradley Thank you so much for that information! Very much appreciated!
Awesome video!!
Thank you! I hugely appreciate that, Andrew. Massive congratulations on the brilliant product design and development with Notion Mail. Can't wait to see where this goes. 🚀
PPV related content. There are plenty of feature update videos. I'm more looking for the how to use those in a way that has an actual benefit and that in the PPV context which is about improving your quality of life, not just having cooler systems :)
Great suggestions, I absolutely agree!
Yes, just hold Shift when hitting Enter for the line breaks. It will keep you in the same block.
Formula follow up would be awesome!
Thanks for the feedback - I'm Looking into it!
Regarding the automation
If you consider to make an automation video where important is to emphasize what is on free plan what is on paid plan.
Thank you!
@@augustbradley Looking forward to more of your content soon
@augustbradley - can you tell me if with charts you can display them in layouts? I don't see this is possible.... can you?
Hi August - can you assist me with this formula please? These are based on trying to calculate the date/time b/w 2 rollup properties. I have tried this: format(dateBetween(dateEnd(End), dateStart(Start), "hours")) + " hr " + format(dateBetween(dateEnd(End), dateStart(Start), "minutes") % 60) + " min"
ERROR: Argument of type array does not satisfy function dateEnd().
@@augustbradley amazing!

August I would love for you to take a deep dive into formulas.
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. I'm thinking about how to do this.
Can we get access to these new features now or wait to be accepted in beta?

Subbed
Thank you! I will work hard to make it worthwhile.
Hi I can not see this option on any of tables ,not sure why ,
They're rolling it out to everyone over the next few days. It should be there by early next week at the latest.
@@augustbradley Thanks ,Looking forward to your news NLD version
Regarding Notion Mail
What are the possibilities to use Notion Mail with Notion CRM system?
I have seen that Monday can be setup as CRM system with email sending receiving capability of the CRM
It would be fantastic to build Notion CRM system (which I have) and incorporate with Notion mail capabilities (which I wish to have). I hope you understand my thinking... 😃
Thx August on all replies on my questions.
@@augustbradley Thx power to you and other proposing this to Notion...👍
When will these features be released?

I must be loosing my mind. Online says forms is available to use but I don't use it as an option despite having updated to the latest version
They're rolling it out gradually to all the users over the next few days. Not everybody has it on day one, but you should have it within a few days. Hope this helps!
Could the form work as a quiz, where someone gets a customised output depending on their inputs?
Sort of. You can have them submit the form and have automations process outcomes as a reaction from that. You could have it sent using the new email actions functionality that was also just recently added to automations. But it would be a little bit clunky and somewhat limited. Though, to some degree, it is possible.
Fuck it would be so cool if I could email something to a database. I hope the integrate this better with notion than with cal
@@augustbradley yeah I think it’s ‘get everyone using them’ then ‘sync them all together’
But I’m excited about that Gmail send feature!
Can we add more than one email accounts in Notion Mail?
In the current early stage of development, you cannot add more than one email account. However, I'm certain they're going to add the ability to have multiple email accounts. The question is whether they will have it by the time they launch it publicly. I would have to assume so, but I don't know that for sure.
Notion Mail just slaughtered SuperHuman and Shortwave in one day! Amazing. Can't wait to use it.
There's a new sharpshooter in town for sure. It's only just begun. Can't wait to see where this goes!
So, it is quite nice, but it doesn't replace the high-end form builders if you have more sophisticated needs.
notion mail is only a client app, right? it has nothing to do with a notion email provider?
That's correct, at the outset. Though there is discussion of a native Notion email option down the road.
I like the fact they are a mini Google / Zoho
Good comparison! Notion is becoming more and more expansive. They started with more flexibility and less of a specific point of view, which allowed for a wider range of possible uses. Google and Zoho began with a suite of apps that were all very specific. Now, Notion is filling in with those specific apps. It will be interesting to see where Notion ends up relative to those two models - it seems like Notion is trying to do the best of both at the moment.
@@augustbradley honestly more companies should do it, personally I don’t know why Zoho doesn’t have their own computer yet
Now they’re competing with Smartsheet with the forms and automation.
There's becoming more and more overlap across different apps. This is a step in that direction.
THEY HAVE INBOX ZERO MODE???
That is one of the three default setup options. Lots of innovations!
I would love to see real applications for various scenarios to finally understand how they work
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I have to agree - I think the Excel formulas are far more logical and intuitive.
About Notion mail: "This feel very Notion". I don't see any differences vs gmail
I see extensive differences. And this is just the early beta stage.
Layouts is the killer new feature. Until Mail gets real integration, it's not that interesting. I already have more than 1 email client that I love.
I just wish they didn't push AI so much and the $10/month charge.
Notion leadership and product development is certainly further out pushing AI than the general user base. Will be interesting to see if the user base catches up to the vision. Notion AI is certainly not essential at this stage, but it can be helpful.
The calendar app is boring right now
I think it's a nice, elegant experience. However, it doesn't have any real features that set it apart at the moment. I think that's coming - perhaps a little slower than we would like, but I believe it's coming with much deeper and more thoughtful integration with the Notion core app.
Personally, I don't find any of this even remotely interesting, hopefully other will find it more useful than I do.
Fair enough, not everything is for everybody. I personally think these are some fantastic expansions, but I totally respect that it doesn't really move the needle for all workflows or all styles of working. What would you find most interesting and exciting for Notion to add?
@@augustbradley yea, all the best to those that do find them useful, just not for me, personally
