Legacy is truly the most powerful format ever. Just look at that two card combo that said, "If your opponent has a Plains and, you have a Swamp and you haven't played a land this turn, you may discard these two cards to make one blue mana." :P
Meanwhile my takeaway was that daze is so cheap that it can actually MAKE you mana if the stars align. Force of will is broken because it's a free counterspell, but it's not the cheapest counterspell in legacy.

This game had so many amazing and genius moves in it - like baiting out counterspells by bluffing a combo or ramping by countering your own spells - but my favourite was Thoralf nearly taking Jamin's arm off when shaking hands. Classic!

Unrelated to the outcome of this match: Man, I can't wait to see Carl piloting Lands again. I find the deck so delightful to watch and Carl always seems so stoked to play it (or any decks that do funky land shenanigans, for that matter. looking at you, Bloom/Amulet Titan or 12Post)
@Scholar-r7w Flash hulk preyed upon blue decks for its entire run, but the big problem is that miracles can turn the corner out of nowhere by establishing a counter top lock, which forces the flash hulk player to be proactive.
This entire video is the pinnacle of everything I enjoy about Magic. This match was a beautiful song and dance, each player weaving their way through their opponent’s strategy and finding every chance to outplay each other. 11/10!
I like how it's the same speech each video, but slightly different sometimes when someone else does it. Also, I like how Thoralf only cast a single miracle in this match.

MIRACLES WON!!!!! MIRACLES FREAKIN WON!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 What amazing plays!!! I was on the edge of my seat for the whole video!! Also, Miracles is one of the hardest deck to play. Amazing piloting of the deck in the whole tournament, but even more so in these games. But ofc the Dazing of Massacre was a superb play as well! AMAZINGLY skilled players!!! And I speak as an ex-Miracles player. Finals is Lands vs Miracles. A trully classic!!! So far, Snapcaste Mage is the mvp.

One interesting thing is that the decks in this tournament existed with different rules from each other. I wonder how this impacts some of these decks.
Thoffel's second game is the play pattern that made me play control, nothing in this game feels better than knowing you have answers for whatever the opponent wants to do and just applying pressure
We generally started with the 7 video model because we see that people click away when there is no stakes. Even if it's playing a game 3 (after a 2-0 win) just to give extra content. If this series ever ends up doing as well as our other content, i'd happily consider throwing in an 8th video and doing a Bronze Match though :)
Agreed - that was the core shell that the deck was built from, Countertop was a thing long before miracles came in, it just turned out that being able to manipulate the top of your deck at will was amazing with the miracle mechanic.

I read an article on flash hulk calling it the scariest, quickest legacy threat but it looked really inconsistent here and very vulnerable to interaction, like it seemed like it was drawing dead to 3/4 of the deck. Obviously sometimes it can just go off but it shocked me how different it looked between rounds
The first one of this tournament in which I was wrong. I predicted Flash Hulk to go on to finals but my FAVORITE deck, Lands, is already there. I'm definitely rooting for Lands to take it home.
I am so happy to see Miracles win this, as I loved following Legacy in that era of Magic. Innistrad block especially has very fond memories for me. Now we get the final I honestly wanted to see most - so hyped for next week ❤
Im very interested in understanding why this year's version of miracles was picked! Counter-top seemed more of the stronger choice, especially when it was in the meta of DRS and very strong decks around that era, since Counter-top Miracles had access to stuff like Monastary Mentor, Surgical for the SB, and seeing using R for cards to fight the mirror, including stuff like Pyroblast/REB and other SB cards.
They had people vote year by year. So it wasn't one version of Miracles vs another. It was that people preferred this version of Miracles for that year's vote. Any other version simply lost to a completely different deck in the polls.
That Dazing your own Massacre was comedic gold, and it's stuff like that that makes me love Magic, Daze is such a great card because of it's complex and nuanced usage. Is it worse than FoW? Oh yeah, but in a case like this it can generate that one more mana, it's almost impossible for FoW to generate mana without more resources.
Miracle itself is actually a trigger! So when you draw it, you reveal it, and with that on the stack, before you can cast the card for its miracle cost, you can take other game actions!
Don't know how the matchup would normally play but it feels like it'll be a grindy one. Dark depths isn't great with all the swords (sac 2 lands, gain 20 life) and terminus so lands probably wants to keep them off mana with wasteland and choke and grind out a win after finding field of the dead (could be very slow as crop rotation is risky against the countermagic) and the miracles wants an entreat the angels or to grind out planeswalker value.
@@tomthemime4318 You didnt mention the most important part. With these exact versions, Miracles have no real, viable answer to W6 and it must be countered at all costs. I might even dare say that W6 is the Lands "Flash" for this game at least.

Outstanding video today! I love seeing some Arena Boys alums square up for some banter featuring Magic, and the games were excellent as well.

There have definitely been decks in previous tournaments that would've run differently if damage still went on the stack.

Counterbalance was 100% mainboarded in Miracles. Why is it in the sideboard?
