• Pink Floyd - Comfortab...
Props for not interrupting a David Gilmour solo.
Respect.
The long end solo by Gilmour actually moved one reactor to literal tears (A young woman). It's amazing how much emotion can pour out of a guitar.
Probably the most incredible live guitar solos EVER recorded. Absolute AWE.
'The Wall' album that this song is from, came out in 1979. However this concert took place some 15 years later in 1994. And yes, Pink Floyd has always been years ahead of their time both in sound and live concert technology. They sat a standard that few others if any have ever met. Always best to do the studio versions first if you want to really get into the lyrics which in Floyd's case are always exceptional. That way you're not so distracted by the incredible live presentation and will most likely appreciate it even more when you do check out the live version.
One of the greatest rock bands of all time. Their Dark Side of the Moon album was on Billboard’s charts for 987 weeks!! This song is from their iconic The Wall album about the dreariness and despair of British society. Dany of the Warning counts this as one of her inspirations.
There’s no denying that Pink Floyd set the bar very high - they changed the way concerts are done
With the release of Dark Side of The Moon, Floyd toured with Quad sound. Now that was cool. During Run , the guy is running around the stadium.
At the height of their career, Pink Floyd had more money invested in their light and laser show than any other band in existence, and the guy with the guitar is the heart and soul of Pink Floyd David Gilmour. If you don’t know him, you don’t know Pink Floyd, one other piece of advice With Pink Floyd don’t try to analyze it just enjoy it take back close your eyes turn it up and the rest will take place. This is not dance music. It is spiritual music, inner soul, discovery, music from the same concert. There are two other songs I would recommend one of them is. Sorrow. And the other is High hopes Those two songs should get you established into a whole new experience of great music of the 70s you might be surprised as to what happens to your future mindset
💯 spot on
hearing this performance for 30 years is so amazing, it always reminds me just how dmooth Floyd was in the 70s… EVERYTIME i just close my eyes, smile and listen
To say that David Gilmour killed that solo would be the understatement of the century...he LEVELED all past present and future electric guitar solos PEROID. I've been a Pink Floyd/ David Gilmour fan for 50 years now. To me, all of his guitar playing is simply the best I've heard ever due to the fact that he is so versatile, the master of tone, the master of the string bend, and as many agree, can hit you in the heart with one well bent note better than most can with a whole album.
The bass guitar has the works on the bottom. This concert was in 1994. They are known for their laser light shows. They’ve been a band since the 60’s.
Waters told Rolling Stone in a December 2004 interview that the meaning behind “Comfortably Numb” was based on personal experience. In 1977, Waters suffered from hepatitis, which can cause tiredness, abdominal pain, and vomiting. At a show that year in Philadelphia, a sleazy doctor injected him with a tranquilizer before a show. He said “That was the longest two hours of my life, trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.”Waters was placed in a state where he was “Comfortably Numb.” He was heavy and sleepy-everything felt similar to the lines Hello? (Hello, hello, hello).
1. This concert is from 1994, not 1979. The studio album containing the song was released in ‘79.
2. Pink Floyd has always had one of the largest budgets of any artist devoted to perfect audio reinforcement and reproduction-incredibly clear sound.
3. This album was an HUGE deal. It was the highest-quality, most-professionally-filmed concert series in the history of music. No expense was spared.
4. Rick Wright and David Gilmour have some of the most precise diction in popular music. Their voices are perfectly clear, yet somehow never sound artificial or forced.
5. If you cannot make out what these guys are singing, I wish you luck in your daily conversations.
Pink Floyd!🔥🔥🔥
Happy you finally got to listen to it 😎
David Gilmour is a triple threat; incredible singer, incredible guitarist, and My God you should see him on the dance floor.
WOW I AM SHOCKED! MY FIRST TIME EVER HEARING PINK FLOYD! THIS WAS A WILD ADVENTURE!

Part of an album all about a child who grows up to become a Rock Star and eventually slips into insanity. This track "Pink" is barely conscious, on the floor of a Hotel bedroom, being given a "shot" by a "doctor" to get him back on his feet so he can go out on the stage to perform.
So the entire album is one story, which makes it tricky taking it out of context 😉
Pretty cool eh . Pink Floyd the GOATS of slow hand prog. Been listening to Floyd for over 50yrs. You'll love the GOATS of prog rock YES and a song called Roundabout off the Fragile album. Enjoy your Floyd and YES journey 🍁🙏
Pink Floyd's light shows were always, ALWAYS tops for its time. They had to be, they were the ones who literally invented live concert light shows.
You have just heard THE best guitar solo ever. Welcome to the deep, deep Pink Floyd rabbit hole. Choose any song from the Pulse album/DVD, you can't go wrong.
Best band ever! Period
Got to love how at first you didn't know what you were watching and were pausing all the time.
By the end you knew you were watching something special and just sat there and absorbed it!
Show was in 1994 BTW!
thank you and haha yeah you make a really great point! I was locked in towards the end! that was a incredible journey and I cant wait to hear more! thank you for your support! and for the info!
Just a remark on some lyrics "When I was a child I had a fever, my hands felt like two gallons". That is a real thing. When I was about 7 or so I was sick with a huge fever my hands felt like balloons. It was pretty strange. That was 66 years ago. Another thing: During an interview Eric Clapton was asked what it felt like to be the greatest guitarist in the world and he reportly said "I don't know, you should ask David Gilmor."
I also had the fever/hands feel like balloons thing too, when I was 5, such a weird sensation that I've remembered it all these years. Nice to know I am not the only one and did not dream it up.
I too had the same feeling but could never find anyone else who did and when I first heard this song I almost fell over!
at this concert, people were in awe. just watch in amazement. this concert was 1994.
The song is from a concept double album, The Wall, released in 1979. This concert is from the band's Division Bell Tour in 1994. It was filmed and recorded and released a year later as a live CD and DVD called P.U.L.S.E. The young guy with the guitar is Guy Pratt playing a headless bass.
Actually first release on home video was VHS and Laserdisc in 1995 - I still have the Laserdisc, but nothing to play it on anymore. The DVD was long delayed, but eventual release was in 2006. The Blu-ray wasn't released until 2019.
When you here Pink Floyd you fly to onother planet.
Watch 'Run like Hell' from the same concert... Pink Floyd at their Rock best 👌
Every time they light up the mirrored ball. And I hear the crowd cheer. I get cold chills.
Same concert...Sorrow, Coming Back To Life, Wish You Were Here, Run Like Hell, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, High Hopes, etc, etc.
Been Floyd fan since 69. My first concert was Dark Side of the Moon tour then two more times over the years. David Gilmore’s guitar solos puts soul into your soul.
I agree! That's exactly what happened with me lol!
David Gilmour is a truly an iconic figure in rock history and one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Seems to me the next step is another stadium band with another incredible guitar player. I suggest the live version of Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits. Prepare to be blown away again.
Bro! The smile on your face speaks volumes!
IMO there’s nothing better than Floyd.
Their albums are conceptual. Each track flows into the next.
Echoes live at Pompeii is a must.
Welcome to Pink Floyd!! They're one of the greatest rock bands that's ever been and David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitarists. His playing is highly emotional, even in the songs that rock hard, and there are several. Pink Floyd takes you on a journey, their music is an experience. Definitely give the songs Hey You and Money a listen. 💗
This is from 1994 not 1979. This was my favorite song from the first time I heard it. For the DVD the solo was shortened by a minute 20 seconds or so. I have no idea why. I believe the long version is available on YT.
You just witnessed the Greatest Guitar Solo EVER and being in there inTampa in 1994 was the BEST moment of my musical experience 4sure and those who had the same experience in any city on the Pulse concert will agreeing with me 1000% 2. End of story. Watch and react any songs from that concert and buckle your seatbelts, Kansas going to say bye-bye. :)
Concert was at Earls court london 1994. The song was written in 1979
This is the difference between someone speaking fast over a computer track and real musicians.
There's nothing particularly spaecial about David Gilmore's fender Stratocaster, it's the man playing it that's special.
Everyone on that stage has dedicated their lives to being the best at what they do.
I was at this very gig at Earls court in London and I don't think there was a dry eye in the place, including me.
The whole comcert was at this level and I was emotionally drained for 2 days.
I suggest you watch this from the same concert.
"The great gig in the sky"
There are no words but this is where the backing vocalists really shine.
Each one is phenomenal and brings a different texture to the mood.
Seriously dude, Floyd will blow your fucking mind.
ua-cam.com/video/vWZ6hmHj2MA/v-deo.htmlsi=N2bvPlWQaJmxMWBr
I'm so jealous. What an amazing experience that must have been. Also I just wanted to add that nobody ever mentions Sam Brown's duet when David was singing his part. She sung it beautifully.
Dude strap in and do this whole pulse concert I NEVER get tired of it❤️✌🏼
In 1994 I saw PF at the Rose Bowl and I swear to god they bent laser light in the sky. I have no idea how they pulled it off but I remember that sight like it was yesterday. Note. You can not bend light.
94 Pulse best LIVE concert of ALL TIME
This is what unfiltered talent looks like. They take the universes energy and turn it directly into musical form. And when you witness something that direct.....you have to pause and re-think things. All the crazyness of our chaotic world start to make less sense, and respect for that direct connection becomes more than a passing thing you heard, to a goal for yourself.....for you to have that connection. This music will change you ...for the better if you let it. Welcome to the machine. (another floyd song by the way.)
Pink Floyd one of the few bands from years ago I still will go back and listen to their music and watch videos.Ive seen their cover band, one of the best around ,WISH You Were Here 5 or 6 times.
I saw Pink Floyd in concert back in 1977… Anaheim Stadium,
Dude - this isn’t rap. You don’t have to fixate on lyrics so much.
Listen to the sound, and let it flow. This is full-on Music.
It’s deeper than words will ever be.
Definitely eargasms 😂😂😂
Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. It is the most amazing musical that you can take. Have fun kick back and enjoy.✌️
It's sad that you've never been to a rock concert, because you will never, and I mean never, get to see in person what you just saw. From the mid '60's to the early '80's, the greatest bands the world will ever know created astonishing music and concerts. They're all dead, retired, or close to it now. You may be able to see a Rolling Stones concert or the rare The Who or Moody Blues concert, but those guys are all in their 70's. But if you do get a chance to see them, do it!
Dude, best concert I ever saw. Saw them in 1988 on their Momentary Lapse of Reason album tour. I've seen a ton of rock concerts since I lived an hour from Nashville and they were, by far my favs.
The only reason people would need to pull out their lighters, would be to fire up a doobie. At this point in the show, it was just about 3 hours old, and this was the first of 2 encores.. Saw this concert in 1994 & my ears are still ringing. GREATEST SHOW OF MY LIFE. 2 nights in OAKLAND ( ON THIS LEG OF THE TOUR )
Lol makes sence haha! Yeah I bet it was a incredible experience. It sucks concerts aren't like that anymore!
Roll a fat one and listen to the dark side of the moon, pink Floyd. Dude .
Effects guy: "So what's the budget?
Floyd: "Yes."
My ex-brother in law was a lighting guru here in Australia, worked his way up doing local bands, had the first computer controlled light show in the early 80's, did ALL the greats who came out here - from Queen to Elton John, Rod Stewart, Kiss, AC/DC you name it from the mid 70s to the early 00's. Not sure if he is still doing the rigging himself and so on or just running the company but I think he's still around.
When Floyd came here, they brought their own gear but he worked with them, supplying all of the local riggers, scaffolding etc they needed and couldn't bring with them and he was blown away by the gear they had and the complexity of the set up. Once they had it "tuned" to the local area, they were able to move it from city to city rapidly and he was offered a job with them when they left but he turned it down because he didn't want to move his kids from school and his wife had her own company doing lighting for Theatre and stage shows.
I'm an "older" PF fan, it was tough growing up in the 70's NO, Internet, Cell Phones, Social Media.... we didn't even have any RAP!😢😂
All we had was stuff like this from Pink Floyd or that OTHER little band Led Zeppelin 😂
Check out:-
Led Zeppelin "Since I've Been Loving You" live at Madison Square Gardens 1973
Or
If you want Pink Floyd playing live but no Audience , no Lights and no Pyrotechnics
Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972
Playing in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre
Gods playing to the Gods!!!
The song is from a 1979 album. This video is from a concert in 1994 in Gdansk, Poland.
This is at Earls Court, not Gdańsk
Their album the wall is a whole story to be listed to all at once. You can listen to individual songs but the story will not be as obvious.
This song is about a doctor giving him a shot to get him through a concert. There is much more than meets the eye with pink Floyd. After listening the wall since it came out, I still pick up details about the music and story I had never taken
notice of before. Thank you
This was fun to watch.
Well Done For Not Pausing, It's Against The Law To Pause A David Gilmore Solo.
Welcome to the legendary PINK FLOYD, some of the greatest albums of all time, will never be replicated,. The WALL ,WE WILL NEVER FORGET,
He's talking about memories of childhood fever and how it translated into adult experiences about being sick before performing - "relax, it's just a little pin prick" refers to a shot, probably penicillin. It made him "comfortably numb".
It was a tranquilizer shot Roger got before a show once, not penicillin. 👍🏼
This was recorded in 1994 not 1979. The original is 1979. I went to this concert in the old Foxboro Stadium in Framingham, MA.
If you want more, I suggest Echoes. Any version. The final performance with Richard Wright is in Gdansk.
The original is from 1979, but this performance was in 1994, Pulse Live, probably one of the most iconic rock concerts ever. There's a deep backstory in the writing of the lyrics, which anyone would have to look into; they're not obvious unless you know the history. Appreciate your reaction, especially that you are okay with not knowing on first listen (which is part of the mystique). Keep reacting, sir!
The Lighters are usually meant to request an Encore from the Band...
The "guitar" with the missing headstock was a bass. The tuners are at the other end of the bass.
It's called a stromburg tuner system.
This concert took place in 1994 (not 1979). From the same Pulse Concert, check out SORROW and also RUN LIKE HELL.
The song was originally recorded in 1979 but this performance was in 1994, the annunciation of the lyrics couldn't be any clearer even for those of us who were in the middle of the audience, we could hear it clearly and the audio recording is even clearer due to it being remastered, David Gilmore is famous both for his guitar playing but also for his singing I'm afraid.
I was at that concert in May 1994. It was a visual and auditory experience that no other band could produce. The bass player without the headstock on his bass is Guy Pratt. Pink Floyd is known for their etherial light show and quadrophonic sound system. And of course, David Gilmour , the lead singer and guitarist plays iconic solos and makes his guitar sing and cry.
That’s how you end shit!😂❤❤❤
The best guitar solo of all time from sir David Gilmour
This was live in 1994; not '75. By the time of this concert, PF had been around (with some member changes) since the late 60's. "Incredible band", feels like an understatement when I say it.
Still to this day greatest live concert and guitar solo
One doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd, one experiences them. WELCOME TO THE RABBIT HOLE!
ha I hear you on that! That is exactly how I felt watching them for the first time!
How to get high without actually ingesting anything.....this song, headphones, eyes closed and up loud.......
The video was recorded in Earls Court, London during a Pulse 1994 concert. Audio recording standards were at an advanced state as early as the 1960s, arguably they have declined with the likes of mp3 files. Pink Floyd liked to use state of the art lighting and effects, I believe this tour was the first use of copper vapour lasers outside of military applications.
The fact that these dudes look like high school teachers, or soccer dads at their kids’ games, and yet their coolness factor is off the charts. There are no words that do them justice.
What an event. Just to have been there
I could imagine! this was a phenomenal song and show!
Pink Floyd is an emotional tour of sound, passion and show.
great reaction that performance was something else
Thank you! I agree this was a epic performance!
Hang on tight, Baby 😎
Pink Floyd pretty much invented the light shows back in the late 60s starting with colored oils in water being shot onto a screen behind the band and all of the colors running together, separating,, then running together again. It was the era Psychedelic music and Pink Floyd played a major, MAJOR role there!
If you think you've seen everything about this concert with this song, Pink Floyd has one more surprise in store for you:
Pink Floyd - Run Like Hell (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited)
Ok I will be sure to get to it!
No this is not a concert where people waved their lighters or mobile phones - the band and the show is enough
Nobody pulled their lighters out at the concert. Everyone just stared with their mouths open.
I went to this show in Chicago. That smoke you see is probably from the audience. You could damn near get a contact buzz by watching it.
🤣👍🏼
Song is about struggling with depression and drug addiction
You have just seen David gilmore play the greatest guitar solo ever.
Pink Floyd is DEEP...You should start with songs from the dark side of the moon. Preferably all together in order. The songs kinda flow from one to the other and there are no bad songs.
always go to the original album cut 1st, if its good enuff to play live ... there is a reason why!
Pink Floyd is Legendary, no band like them.
I've been a PF fan since the release of their Epic "The Dark Side Of The Moon" album in 1973, I was a senior in high school!
If you want more lights do in the same concert either the song "Run Like Hell" which is the very last song, or either"Sorrow" or an instrumental called"One of These Days"!! You'll definitely have great music but you'll get the lights you want!!!
220,000 watt sound system
Glitterball over 15 ft. diameter
Lasers were a new experimental design
PF cornered the entire worlds supply at the time
3 separate stage sets
700 tons of gear transported on 53 articulated trucks
Road crew of 161
Used an Antonov military cargo plane plus 2 cargo Boeing 747s
At least that's what I've heard.
That's wild! I would have loved to experience that live!
calculated at close to 2 Mw of lights, by my mate a lighting tech. setting the standards for the future
😂😂😂 get their lighters out 😂😂😂 Floyd put on THE BEST light shows at their concerts son..I first seen them 1974, aged 14 a birthday present off my big brother 😊 the Dark Side of the Moon tour in my hometown Liverpool UK at the Empire theatre they are an experience that stays with you..👍
#1 Solo of all Time...1994 they were ahead of everyone with lights and lasers
Although this song destroys me every time, the first moment it breaks me is with "Can you show me where it hurts?"
Great reaction video - thank you!
Watch Sorrow from pulse concert. Also Run Like Hell, keep talking, Time all from pulse concert!
NOW U KNOW REAL MUZIC ,NOW
Pink Floyd was the innovators of Lazer light shows. And surround sound.
Welcome to the experience of Pink Floyd. They have always been cutting edge in terms of music and stage. This video clip is from a concert in the 1990s---and the stage/lighting show cost 25 million, THEN. The entire concert, called 'Pulse' is amazing. These are musicians at the height of their skills. Their music endures and resonates through the years. 'Sorrow' is another tune from the concert where the musicianship is exceptional.
EPIC! Is not big enough, absolutely LEGENDARY!
We saw this show in 94 5 days before my 18th birthday.
Jaw dropping!!!!
Pink Floyd is out of this world and outside of this universe whilst trippin on a massive dose of mushrooms 🍄
if you think you might enjoy a bit of funk try the track Money, and for some real soul, try Great Gig in the Sky, (my personal fav). I recommend anything from the Pulse Tour!
You have got a lot of Pink Floyd to watch Watch this whole concert it is unbelievable
Check out Great Gig in the Sky..same concert..
thank you I Definity will!
Really really should do this studio version first.
1994 my friend from pulse concert
I am very glad that you finally are a Floyd fan. I saw Pink Floyd in 1994 twice in New York at the old Yankees Stadium in the Bronx and the second show was at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey when I was only 17 at the time now 46. Another good song with a great guitar 🎸 solo from Gilmour is Sorrow. Happy New Year’s!
Thank you! Yes that performance blew my mind away! I am definitely intrigued to hear and see more from them!
