    First time I've seen video from the inside of a dust collection system, that was pretty cool. I hope all the seals on your camera and light held out the dust. You are an engineer, whether or not you have a degree, you are definitely an engineer, and a qualified creator. I love you stuff, it always gets my head spinning with what I could make and "maybe" improve for my own situation/use. Thank you.

    I made this baffle with this video as inspiration... mine is a bit larger, but very much the same in most of yours. I love the see through polycarbonate sides. It's fun to watch. I don't use the clips though, don't see the need to. Thank you Marius for this video!! 👍

    Just a thought, attach an outlet with a blastgate on your small dust buckets. When they get full attach a hose from your large dust collector and empty to your large container. Disregard if you think it wouldn't work. Keep up the good work, great videos.

    Hi Marius. Just a thought for you, one small port hole about 3 inch in diameter with polycarbonate should make a great inspection view to tell you the can is full. The can you made one vertical window like that in your filter box door would work for your small wooden can.

  • @davidmcdaniel9921
    @davidmcdaniel9921 7 років тому +1

    For your dust bin, the clear one, you might install a 4" dust collection gate in the back/base of it so you don't ever have to empty it, just connect a 4" hose and empty it, then disconnect the hose until needed again.

  • @FishersShop

    I love your videos, Marius! Awesome job, and I can't wait for the upcoming projects! By the way, i'm guessing you could very easily add a poly window in your large dust bin (like in your filter box) so you can see when it's getting full.

    Perhaps cutting slots in the sides of your wood dust collection cabinets, and installing strips of plexiglass as sight windows. This would allow you to keep an eye on the volume, and empty them before dust migration into areas you prefer didn't get as dusty.

    Just a thought on the broken clips on the smaller separator - swap the positions of the components, mount the clips on the barrel and the dowels on the lid. Also remove the hinge completely and just have the clips, as you show on the larger separator the suction keeps it in place.

    nice work!! but can i ask you here alas a question? about the cyclone?
    i was wonder " what is better" a smal hose with a higher speed or a wider hose with less speed, and is a wider circle for je cyclone better/ more efficient as a smaller one and the hight ?is more hight also more efficient ? and your input of your last cyclone is more square, does that have a better result?
    keep on going, il like to watch you!!

    The mesh in the dustcollector can create a new "risk". If the mesh is clogged up, the pressure in the room above it will decrease. If the plexiglas is not strong enough, it can collapse under the low pressure or "vacuum".

    entertaining video ☺ 0.3 micron thats impressing. How fine are your wacumcleaner filters? Not Considering the dust can get free moving around inside your shop before being sucked through the wacum? 🤔 I would prefere doing that outside or with a very strong draft going outside.

    Hey Marius, not sure if you've seen any of Matthias's videos on dust collection, but I believe he mentions a few times that the tiniest microscopic particles make it through the air filters until they have a coating of dust on them... So maybe (as long as you have enough suction) you may find it beneficial to leave that fine layer of dust on the final filters?

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 років тому +1

      Yes, that might be true, but I'm also using much higher quality filters than he does. So I rather have clean before the dust really settles in and ruins the filter.

      Rainer Zufall in Sweden at least, you can buy various magnets in any home improvement stores, including Bauhaus and Hornbach (both of which we have within reasonable distance from me, by the way). :)

    • @MariusHornberger
      @MariusHornberger  7 років тому

      I bought a set of 100 online (5€), because I needed them for other projects as well.

    • @superdau
      @superdau 7 років тому

      Can't remember ever seeing them in a Bauhaus here in Austria, but I also never really searched for some, because I bought some way before I really needed some on ebay. It's much cheaper there if you want a few (and you want a few because they are handy to have around ;) ).
      You can always try out fridge magnets (they will be weaker but might still work). Or check out 1€ shops for random stuff that has magnets in it. If that fails Conrad, Reichelt or Pollin (the electronics shops) should have some Neodymium magnets. Although if you aren't close to one of them and have to order them you might as well buy them in bulk from China.

    Marius Hornberger it looks like you might need to incorporate a window into your large cyclone bin

      The Polycarbonate is 2mm thick. The other dimensions depend on how big the bucket should be. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/c19NzKRkv7E/v-deo.html I used the exact same method to make the bucket.
