Isao Sasaki (ささき いさお（佐々木功）, Sasaki Isao?, May 16, 1942--) is a Japanese seiyū, actor, and vocalist. He has had voice roles in anime such as Legend of the Galactic Hero, Space Battleship Yamato, and Gatchaman. He has also performed the opening themes for anime such as Yamato, Star of the Giants, Getter Robo, Casshan, Grendizer, Gaiking and tokusatsu series such as Himitsu Sentai Goranger, J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, Choujinki Metalder, and most recently Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. He has also had an acting role in the tokusatsu film Kamen Rider ZO and in the series Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion.
Space Battleship Yamato (宇宙戦艦ヤマト, Uchū Senkan Yamato?) is a Japanese science fiction anime series and the name of its eponymous space craft. It is also known to English-speaking audiences as Space Cruiser Yamato or Star Blazers; an English-dubbed and partly edited version of the series was broadcast on American and Australian television under the latter title.
Star Blazers (宇宙戦艦ヤマト, Uchū Senkan Yamato?, letteralmente "Corazzata Spaziale Yamato") è il primo anime di fantascienza di Leiji Matsumoto, nonché uno dei capisaldi del genere con all'attivo ben tre serie televisive, quattro film cinematografici ed uno speciale per la TV.
Star Blazers fu trasmesso per la prima volta in italiano nel novembre 1980 dalla Televisione svizzera di lingua italiana. Si trattava della versione prodotta e distribuita negli Stati Uniti, realizzata assemblando le prime due stagioni e modificando i nomi dei personaggi per adattarli alla lingua anglosassone: troviamo così nell'equipaggio i nomi di Derek Wildstar, Mark Venture o Alex Stardust, mentre l'astronave Yamato[1] viene chiamata Argo. Neanche due anni più tardi, il cartoon riapparve su Rete 4, mantenendo inalterati il titolo e le manomissioni ma incorporando le avventure della terza serie. When I first listened to this song as a kid , it was mid 70s and I loved it. Now I am nearly 60 years old but still get goosebumps.

La versione vecchia sembra molto più bella riguardo alle tempistiche. In quella nuova non hanno un limite di tempo e quindi sembra fuori posto il fatto che non vogliano fermarsi

Definitely. My freind said the Americans changed the story around and messed it up. Like a few deaths they went and said the Gamilas didn't die. And the name changing :(
@@aleksandramakari yeah they did. As a kid I loved (Star Blazers) as it was called here. At the time I had no idea that the Japanese version was different let alone so much better. Sorry to say the same thing happened with Macross or (Robotech) here. Again the American producers had to screw it up.

This is so fricking righteous! This guy reminds me of a Don Ho who is like Mr. Hawaii there, this guy is like Mr. Japan there. Talk about an awesome singer! I don't care if this song was subtitled or not, I really don't care what the song is about, I just like this guy how he belts out the notes and the emotion in his voice. This guy has a grasp on the art of "captivation", he's got the audience in his hand and knows what to do with them. Great song, great show, fond childhood memories!

Non mi meraviglio che gli americani abbiano cambiato il nome della nave spaziale: gli ex combattenti avrebbero ricordato la grande corazzata della marina imperiale giapponese!
nella guerra la yamato fu un pezzo di ferro quasi inutile .... usata e poi subito danneggiata .... ha avuto un ruolo operativo molto meno importante di altre navi .... però era una arma di propaganda interna molto forte ....
In effetti la Yamato ebbe scarso peso nella guerra navale del Pacifico durante la seconda guerra mondiale. La Yamato era una corazzata eccellente ma in ritardo rispetto ai tempi perché i giapponesi non avevano ancora compreso che la capital ship della flotta era diventata la portaerei e non più la corazzata.
Al di là del valore operativo, è il valore simbolico che conta. Richiamare il nome di una delle navi più rappresentative di una flotta purtroppo sconfitta è il segno di un infinito orgoglio e dignità di un popolo che non è stato piegato nemmeno da due bombe atomiche.
