  • Tried and tested, completely impressed with the beam. It does get hot if you keep blasting turbo often, but it's good to know it's there when you need it. In this video, I'll show you how it stacks up against the P20iX, and the 6 key things that make this the perfect light for police and military.

Just got two units of the p20ix after watching yours and others reviews. Awesome light. Still need a bit of a compact thrower so this P23i or even the way bigger P35i should do the trick. I’m a night worker and do everything at night so my lights have become my best friends from late night shopping, walking to the work building with no lights outside or throwing the trash at 4 AM, using my nitecores to make sure I don’t run into orb weaver spider webs lol. Great video review as always & thank you NITECORE for making quality products!

There are many good options for compact throwers. If you’re partial to nitecore they have the mh25v2! Acebeam has a series L16 through L19 and olight has the warrior x series.. Fenix has the TK20 there’s a bunch of larger ones too from all brands.

With a new thrower i will be able to reach high up from ground level partically to the aircraft tail section. I picked up my p23i a few hours ago to replace my mh12v2 i bought just a couple months ago as edc in my jacket.
I love my mh12v2,but i wanted even longer range and better ability to break car Windows during car accidents (i can happen at any time).
Really impressed by the rugged build quality, still haven't tried it outside,so i am really looking forward to testing it more.
The mh12v2 impressed me alot,so i know my new p23i is going to blow my mind hehehe.
I started with 2dollar led lights, this is my 3 Nitecore flashlight i have bought within a year or 2,and i can already feel the need for many more,i guess i am hooked on your flashlights hehehe.

I can say by use with the 23i the user interface is even much better than I thought. I've learned to just keep it in tactical mode since it gives me the defensive mode I want always there and since I can adjust the lumen setting lower sooooo quickly, it's the dream light for me.

I am not in law enforcement or the military. We live in a rural area where there are virtually no city lights. We live next to my father in law who is dependent on us to help him. There are many times that he calls us at night to come down and help him. With no lights in the area and his house being a ways away we need to use flashlights to find our way. Currently, we just use some energizer flashlights which have 350 lumens. It doesn't light up as much as I would like to feel safe. This flashlight would allow us to see anything (mainly animals) that may be in our path and scare them off. This would help my wife feel safer as well.
    Thanks Nitecore!

having P10i for a year now. very handy indeed, small and compact, using it for insect trapping, forest patrolling and using it on disaster relief as well. the only draw back is the beam distance still not enough for searching mission and for some reason the lens tend to fog up after submerged. well the massive one it's unable to tail standing, quite hard for me because using it for hour just for collecting insects. hopefully this P23i bring more runtime and able to stand for hours.
    great video anyway!

It's an RS Components branded torch (flood) and its bright enough for some of my rounds but there are a few long corridors that just disappear into darkness. So now i'm here looking at this. Hope I win!!!! If not, i'll probably buy myself a MH12se as the throw on that thing looks amazing.

Cannot stress enough how good your reviews are on pointing and explaining those "little" details that make night and day difference in real situations. Features, put in real life context, that the rest of the flashlight reviewers simply overlook, focusing on nuances like threads, knurlings, lanyards, etc. Those people need to understand that the momentary Turbo/Strobe ready features are of social importance. Just like the antilock brakes (ABS).
The flashlight is the undisputed best self defense tool, according to the experts: the most effective, legal, safe, non damaging and multitasking of them all.
Thing is, none of those is valid of you don't have the right one in your hands - that's where your great reviews step in.
    Well done! 👍👍

As I work in a club, this seems to be effective as the compact beam would ensure that I can target the group or person that I need it to, rather than stunning everyone, but the spill seems enough for me to use it as a searchlight. Added plus is the durability which ensures that I would be prepared for what may come in a dark and rowdy club. Currently using a a p20i, and am thinking of upgrading coz I would benefit from more power.

I was going to look on Amazon for something cheap if I get any Christmas money. When we leave to go camping, hiking or such and can't take the rifle I could easily take it off and carry it in the holster. Right now I have a olight i3t so this would be a huge improvement all the way around for us. Great video btw! I would def buy all that for $229 if it were possible, great deal. Hi there,
How does this compare to the Fenix TK20R v2. The outside design looks much more robust on the P23i but in terms of turbo runtime, I most interested as all lights claim hours of runtime like the TO20R v2 says 3000l at 2hrs 50min is so untrue.
While P23i says 3000l for 30min, I’m assuming it steps down after 20sec or so, but to how much lumens and for how long?

Been waiting for this review and really, I think this light is pretty awesome but what I really want to know is are we going to get a P13i that present a similar complimentary offering to the P10ix I have. After all, the P23i is now the complimentary pairing to the P20ix that the P20i was not.

Been using the P20I for work in SCDF. Been a great main light for rescue and search light. Battery lasts a long time and the compact size makes it easy to throw in the pocket. With more incidents occurring in the dark the further throw and brighter beam would be a great secondary light for my work.

hi there, I am working in the oil and gas construction sector. which type of torch 🔦 u recommend? and which model is following the requirement of ip68, to be used in brownfields or live plants?
the only torch 🔦 know that can be used is the pelixxx brand due to its ip68 approval, which requires the light to be water, dust and explosion-proof.
thanks in advance. do make a video of it. 😀

Hi MJ. I recently purchased this light from an online seller here in the U.S. called Nitecore Store (Longhorn Tactical). The beam on the one I received had a dark spot in the center. Somewhat of a halo rather than a solid spot. When I sent the a photo of this, assuming it was defective, they responded with this:
“Thank you for the photo. After checking the multiple P23i lights, the P23i would have a shadow of the LED and this would not be considered a defect”
Is this true that all the P23i lights will have this dark spot in the center? I trust you so if you concur then I’ll just chalk this up to a bad investment. I have other lights which I can use that do not have this “shadow”.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi yes, most lights with the a long range led setup will have a black dot when used up close. If you need a clean white wall shot you can go with closer range lights which don’t have that dot.

The p20ix with TSL10i tail cap and NTR10 ring sits on nightstand. Th tail cap always on green so can immediately see it when waking up in middle of night. The ring helps guide hand for proper grip. P20ix better for home use because of its massive flood capabilities.
The p23i with the NTR10 ring and NTH25 holster for everyday carry. Better for daily carry when out and about and need a thrower. Both great lights but both have a purpose. This is my purpose.

Being a paramedic, I use my flashlight for a wide variety of things, but all essential parts of my job. For example locate victims, search for house numbers or street names when trying to get to the caller's location, search a house's interior or trash bin for valuable information (like hidden medication packaging), provide my collegue with light to treat our patiënt, and sadly sometimes to defend ourselves when things are about to get out of hand. I currenty use a Heider 18650-flashlight, which is "okay", but not very use-friendly in terms of it's controls, plus it's having a bad connection somewhere, causing it to keep changing modes automatically. Long story short, I think the new P23i is the perfect for my job because it's compact, easy to control, has a nice mixed beam, and offers some self-defense options (strobe + bezel) in case of an emergency (obviously we as paramedics don't have any other tools to defend ourselves).
Thank you for the fun and informative reviews, you got me hooked on Nitecore!

I work as a humanitarian aid here in my country of Philippines. And it is very prone to all disasters all year from earthquakes to typhoons. Yes i work as an humanitarian aid but i also provide security to my team during our operations. I currently have the MH10 V2 which serves a lot to me. But the demand of my work outweighs the capabilities of my MH10 V2. So it would probably be better to upgrade into something better like the P23i. The P23i’s capabilities are superior to my work!

I’m skeptical on 3000 lumen lights of this size, I currently use the p20i both as edc and one of my duty lights. It’s great. I find that 1800 lumen is very practical for longer uses of turbo. Turbo really isn’t needed for TOO LONG but if the next level down is too much of a step down then it’s sort of silly to have a level gap of over 1900 lumen. (Referring to Fenix R series of 3000 lumen lights, goes from turbo at 3000 down to high at 1000) I’ll probably get it to try though as nitecore products have always been good to me.

The Olight Warrior 3S does 2300 lumens for 2.5 minutes if you're looking for a long turbo mode. It depends on a person's needs. I don't see myself needing turbo for more than 30 seconds. I like the fast burst of high candela to help in defense purposes as the light has the practical lumen ranges for daily use. The 23i offers me that better than all the others I looked at.

Can you make the rear mode change button larger like all the way around the tail cap and not just on one side? I really like the idea but with the mode change button being mostly flat it's not so easy to find especially under stress. Why not make the mode change button go all the way around the tail cap so no matter how you pick the light up you will easily find the mode change button?
Maybe it's not technically possible but seems like it could be. Thank you for the video Nitecore has been making great lights for years I still love my old Infilux 2 and D10 with the "Piston" switch.
