When you realized you had the passion for this things? Because I feel like maybe I'm having it too lol, I can't stop watching this kind of videos and making my own list of EDC products since a purchased my last leather wallet
some people likes it like a hobbie actually, but i guess once you start gettin things and making your own edc, you start to like it more than you think btw, which wallet did you get??
I've got some recommendations but I ended up getting a Vionentus design to give it a try. It's made by aluminium, the models are very minimalist and slim so, why not? And I haven't any trouble by now, also the money clip it has just work for me A LOT
I would rather do without and save than buy poor quality kit. Head to the many groups aimed at your needs to pick up top-notch kit at budget prices. I do it all the time to avoid the cry once.
I've been into this EDC shtick for like a week at this point, I don't know why I find this so fun, but I do. I'm not gonna buy anything I see in those videos, as this stuff is quite useless to me, but it's fun to look at. It scratches the part of my brain that likes organisation.
@@DavidDavoDavidson Until you need something! My goal with my EDC carry is to smooth out the little unexpected things that happen while I'm out and about and to be useful to others. My #1 criteria is that my carry brings me joy. I am blessed beyond measure to afford to buy some things that are not only useful but also pleasant to use.
I’ve had that Orbitkey 2in one pouch for the last 6 weeks or so and love that thing. It’s clutch for exactly what you describe. I keep the mini in the outer pouch of my overnight bag with my power adapter and longer Nomad cables and the larger one gets moved between my EDC bag to which ever other I carry and that contains all the bits and bobs that I like to always have at hand from an all brushed metal Sharpie to my microcords, a bit of gaffers and gorilla tape, self amalgamating tape of course and other edc essentials.
Just bought some of those hand warmers, great value. Only thing is that the three heat levels seem to modulate by pulsing on and off (lowest = more time “off”, whereas highest = more time “on”) so even on the lowest setting they do actually get very hot for a few seconds while it pulses up and down. Shame it’s not a more even, constant modulation of the temperature but still happy.
orbitkey isn’t the original as that general concept has been around before they existed. but they were one of the firsts successful to market. early to mid2000s had ideas involving key edc. keyport had a slider, there were smaller one-offs and smaller outlets making small batches of what orbitkey was making with a pivot in the key head. and there were diy instructions how to make your own. the concept was generally “open source” back then.
I found those Ocoopa hand warmers last year and they have been an amazing upgrade to my life. I walk outside a lot and I can't understate how much more comfy it is to keep them in my jacket pockets.
Another great video, thanks Jon. I'd like to see that Bellroy zip pouch at the beginning set up for a smart work use case, e.g. notepads, pens, business cards, small tablet, some cables etc.
That Ekster magnetic charging cable resembles the one that comes with the Shokz OpenRun line of headphones. There's definitely scope for standardisation here.
There are a load of connectors like it that are very similar. Usually it's two magnets at either end, with four pins between them. I have a Polar watch and Creative headphones with almost compatible connectors.
I agree with other comments, i take a small selection when out: phone (with pen slot and i3t eos olight , couple of blank paper cards inside for writing) , keys, wallet, pocket knife, super tinker SAK (or similar). Edc sorted. I put them in different pockets, i feel that one pouch with it all in could get lost/taken from me, then ive nothing. Military upbringing makes you really think about this !. Ive also got a general purpose altoids tin with over 60 pieces in that i slip into a side/cargo pocket. Again, lose one item and you still have other options! Clothing hems, stitching, collars etc make great stash areas for small items (notes , small ceramic blade, plastic cuff key, zip tie, emergency currency, important phone numbers etc). Dont get me wrong, some nice bits of kit showing, usefull thought? I mean for survival ? Other people realise the value in pricey pack going back to being robbed ? Interesting channel thogh jon, liked and subscribed 👍 Ps. Have you thought about reviewing the military/travel Wazoo cache belt ? Brilliant for not just military personnel but as a great travel item to wear. Its surprisingly versatile and excellent for a travel companion as its almost impossible to lose, umless you drop your pants in a hostile environment 😂👍
Great video! The hand warmers you recommended currently have a 40% off coupon on Amazon so it was a no brainer to pull the trigger. Looking forward to having them this winter
I'm sure the Bellroy pouch is nice, but man... $100 is beyond crazy. Consider that you can get a Tomtoc 40L very well made backpack for $80. I realize these are 2 different items, but they're both bags. Props to Bellroy for getting people to actually pay those prices though. I actually respect them for it. It's absolutely crazy though.
Great stuff! Thanks for the video as always. I’ll try to find a way to but these hand warmers 😊 if they are approved by you in the UK I’m sure these are good enough for me 😄
Don't wear a mechanical watch anywhere near that charger: your watch will get magnetized, and there goes the accuracy. + thanks for the heads-up on the EDC29. I'll put that into my Black Friday wish-list.
Thanks for sharing the content showing pretty interesting items. I always appreciate the research work you are doing, though it is about to make me spending some money ;-)
Thanks for comment , yes, I have an involuntary twitch in that eye which I've had for many years now - coloured lenses reduce glare from the lights which helps (dark glasses is not a good look!)
As much as I like reading about new products, it is totally insane what prices are asked nowadays for such stuff. The „pencil case“ is a good example that some companies have gotten out of their minds … $99 🤪
I’m on the hunt for a greater than 15 watt MagSafe power-bank for my 16 Pro that is capable of up to 25 watts from a 30 watt capable source. It probably doesn’t exist yet.
The inner part of that first bellroy pouch reminds me of the vault cases. It has flat dividers. I don't have one but oh man do I have plans when I get one. That bellroy looks very useful as well!
How about edc for tourists? With security, the main focus. Carrying our valuables, phones, cards, cash, and id such as passports in areas where pickpockets are active. Even sunglasses, etc, can be a large financial loss. My phone id panic losing that, used for banking etc etc.
I have the edc27 uhi and right away they released the edc29 lol... hey still waiting on that slb05 check. I love mine and added magnetic buckles. In case you want me to show it tell me how i could contact you :)
Oh yeah i use my 27 literally everyday. Just got home from walking my dog right now and just used it. Actually saw something glowing at the distance and it was the eyes of a bird which it ain't normal to be here at night. It was pretty far. It had a good throw and easy to carry tbh. On that nitecore bag the edc fits perfectly on the side actually. But no can't find contact haha but yeah would like to share it
The Perfect Travel Pouch - A Quest Dear Jonathan, I believe I own the perfect travel pouch, which I received about twenty years ago as a freebie along a duty-free purchase in Hong Kong. This pouch has traveled with me on business trips all over Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. But the material is wearing out and for at least 5 years I have looked all over the world for an adequate replacement and FOUND NOTHING that came even close in functionality. Would you be interested to join this quest? Best regards, Carsten Schael
Orbitkey 2-in-1 Tech Pouch: A realy bad product indeed. The interior elastics are bad - do not get to the original share after use, but stay loose. I own the smaller Desk Pouch which by design is supposed to stay upright on your desk, which it doesn't, the front flap is supposed to hold open for access, which it doesn't, the pouch is supposed to stretch for bulkier gear, which it kind of doesn't. All in all, a no-no from me.
When you say the price quickly they sound palatable, but when you look at the links. I baulk They only product you have reviewed. I have bought the Crazy Horse Origami wallet, twice. The belroy is a complete rip off.

Nah, no way, not this time. Hundred pound for a fifteen dollar bag...nah! Not one item mentioned in this video was actually worth the price mentioned, with the exception of the reasonably priced hand warmers. Unfortunately there's probably thirteen people on the planet that they are marketed to. Personally done being financially horked. Glad I've purchased quality affordable pre-wuhanflu gear. You should do a budget version of this selection for normal everyday folk without deep pockets .
Budget EDC coming soon...
Go get a Kosibate pocket organizers.
4 euros, no comparison.
The buttons are a bit weak but replacement is easy as pie.

You'd better quit watching now! If you keep watching Jon you'll find a "need" for many of these bits and bobs 🙂
Very self-aware of you. Buying all this nonsense doesn’t really scratch the itch either. Good money after bad.
Good plan - you'll know when something is perfect for you 👍
yes its all mostly a waste of money

great to know
I bought the Easter wallet and tracker as well as a laptop sleeve. I am delighted with my purchase.

Sorry! 😬
Keep it coming - love your videos
Yeah, me too 😅😂🤣🥲
So true
Been happily using ocoopa hand warmers for years. Get one with PD/fast-charging as ones without may only charge USB-A to C
I did try C-C and it worked fine but 4hrs charging so not particularly quick with these
