Today we get our first look at the 2023 Acura Integra Type S. I drove my 2023 Civic Type R to compare the two back to back. Here are my initial thoughts!

Unpopular opinion here - but the Type S front and rear suit this chassis' look better - much more aggressive than the FL5

I think so too, but I love how Honda made the Type-R's wide body fenders seamless and slick. a little more understated and grown up. I guess its just a different target audience.

Honestly I’m glad both the Type S and Type R exist. They’re good compliments to each other. Enthusiasts who want the full hardcore experience go for the Type R, but for those who want a similar feeling without the rawness go for the Type S. Honda & Acura teams did a great job differentiating them imo
The craziest thing is . The tame looking typeR made more sense as the quite comfortable ride. And more aggressive looking TypeS should've been the more rowdy one

Now that's what you call a glow up. The type-s looks so much more exciting and dynamic and sporty compared to the base integra.
While I do agree, it's still a piss poor excuse of an Integra. That's as the memes called the car when it debuted, an Accord Crosstour.
Love the FL5 and Type S! Personally I prefer the front end of the Type S but aside from that I’d go with the FL5 for sure

Started this video having low expectations for the type s, but honestly, it’s super sick! Acura definitely put some thought into this and it came out looking and sounding great!
I definitely prefer the sound of the type S. Type R still looks better tho

The type S reminds me so much of the FK8 as well. It’s a good mix of luxury and sport. With that being said, I’d keep my FK8. Thanks for the first look!
Same, I own an fl5, and I'm not trading mine in for an integra s. It's 8k more, and you know they are gonna be marked up too.
My local dealer had an integra s at 53k and 5k mark up plus the carbon package (additional 7k). We're looking at around 65k plus ttl, I'm thinking about 70k out the door for an integra s, which is insane.
I got my fl5 for 52k out the door, including ttl. The integra s' are too expensive for what you get imo. If someone can get it for msrp or near msrp, then it's a good deal, but most people probably aren't gonna get that. Even 60k for the car is robbery imo.
Also looks too much like a tlx type s, it's lazy unoriginal styling for the price.
I was surprised how much I liked the type s considering how much of a let down the standard integra felt like it was.
Same here, I thought Acura completely dropped the ball with the base Integra. Then as soon as the Type S dropped I fell in love with the design, it looks so much better and I even like it over the FL5 and FK8
why suprised every base integra ever looked like a normal car compared to the type s/r variant

Definitely prefer the Type S styling and interior minus the seats, just need to swap the bucket seats into the Type S and you got the perfect daily.
Bucket seats and “daily” are a bit of an oxymoron don’t you think?
@@ROVA00 nope not at all. Not all bucket seats are uncomfortable and racing only. Most of the modern sports car now have incredibly comfortable body hugging buckets.
That’s so crazy 70k + for an integra there is just so many other things I’d spend that on that’s wild..
I work for an Acura dealership and we aren’t doing mark up on it just msrp. We have 20 people on the wait list because we are the only dealer in cali not doing mark up
I prefer the rear and interior accents in the typeS, but typeR is my overall pick.
Absolutely love the type s. It’s the Japanese muscle car for the states. Bigger. More comfortable, louder etc.
Just upset at the dealer markups. Even just a few years ago $35k was plenty to get a new or low mileage amazing performance car. I’ve been waiting for years for all these enthusiast cars to come back but I’m scared they won’t last. Trust me there are WAY more people barely living paycheck to paycheck right now and the thought of NEEDING a different car is terrifying.
I got a Kona N for 35k and it slightly beats these cars in acceleration and is also rated for the track.
Agreed. Just bought 2023 VW Golf R and paid 10K markup and gave me slight break since was repeat customer. I should not have bought it but at my age I have more money than years left on the planet. Got email from VW to leave a review of the buying experience and I did bring up the "market adjustment" due to poor supply of these enthusiast cars. Put blame on both the manufacturer and dealer. I put in this was my honest opinion and from a guy that has bought MANY cars. Back in 2006 I bought new BMW Z4 M Coupe and got $500 discount since was repeat customer then. This car was very limited as well at the time with only a three years run. Dealers are definitely more greedy now and take advantage of enthusiast buyers. Part of it may be how COVID affected the supply chain and their bottom line.

@@brap_stu_tu_tu Actually traded in another car and still have the 2006 Z4 M Coupe. Can't let it go and will gift it to my Nephew when my arthritic back makes it too hard to get in and out of. Handles better than the Golf R but is meant to but the Golf R is great compromise of ride/handling/utility. I do look at it walking away and in the lapiz blue in the sunlight looks great.
Like you said. One is more enthusiast driven the other is for style. I personally love the look of the Type S over the FL5. I would love to see one modified out in the streets. I really think both of these cars are about to hit the car scene really big in the next couple of years.
The bronze rims and the carbon pieces u can get from Acura as options look amazing on it
Carbon packaged is like 7k at my local dealer for the ITS. They wanted that plus 5k adm, like 65k plus ttl, probably 70k out the door.
I love both but I’d rather have the Type S. I like how there isn’t so much red on the interior, I prefer the styling over the Type R, and the exhaust is much better too.

Both are amazing cars! But from the two I would definitely enjoy driving the FL5 a lot more. Like you said the Type R just hits like home
I love the new Integra Type S. My very first car was at 98 Integra GSR Coupe... I loved that car so fun to drive. Maybe one day I could upgrade to this beauty. You got to get it.
I look at it this way: The Type R is more for the car guy who’s into modding the crap out of their car, track it, and actually build it. The Integra Type S is more for the OEM+ type car guys (myself) who will put some wheels on it, maybe lower it, interior mods and some exterior bits but not go over the top with changing the full suspension, upgrading turbo, get rid of cats etc.
Idk, of course it’s my opinion 😅 the ONLY reason I didn’t buy an FL5 is because I wanted something not so rough (after test driving it I knew it wasn’t for what I needed from it) then they teased the Type S and I knew it’s exactly what I wanted.

i would go type s over the type r only because of the luxurious feel for daily driving. if i wanted to feel sporty every day while driving, i’d obv take the type r
Personally I prefer the exterior styling of the Type S and I would like the nicer interior quality too. Both cars are awesome.
They look so great in person!! The Acura here in Vegas brought it out to the last Rides and Coffee; beautiful car inside and out!

I think u should definitely get the Type S too man to add to ur collection and let people know and see how the car is and even if u mod it. I love it cause of the four door option and manual transmission in it. I will definitely get this car later when I get the money for it.
FL5 on top fs but… would be pretty cool to see the FL5 go full race car mode and Type S be the street legal daily but… on the the other hand NSX needs to be in the Honda collection! Whatever you do, excited to watch, but would be way more excited for a NSX lmao

Its one of the cleanest Integra's in a long time. The lines on it are aggressive but in the right way. Well done to Honda for developing both lol

One of the guys who designed the car bought a focus rs and that was the baseline for how they wanted the Integra to sound
I just purchased the Integra Type S and love the options over the Civic Type R living in Canada winters!! There both great cars bit for me, the Type S does it all I need. If your going to run the vehicle on a track, Type R takes it.
Of the 9 that Acura of Charlotte NC has for allocation I have one of them allocated. Hopefully all goes well and I’ll have one before the end of the year! Love the new integra!

Haven’t seen a type s in person yet….but just by videos and pictures I love how more aggressive it looks than the fl5
For styling, I think I have to give to the Type-s, BUT for the full package I'd go for the CTR.
It's nice to see the comparison between the 2, and the Integra Type S looks like it'll be an amazing daily. Honest opinion if you want to add to the Honda family why not go NSX or NSX-R. I would absolutely love to see a Legends NSX build on the channel! Congrats on 1K miles bro 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
I just looked at the DE5 today. If it wasn’t for the seats, gauge cluster, and temp gauges i would be trading my FL5 for sure.
Just got that white one with all the accessories- i actually enjoy this integra more than my 2018 M3 I had! Love the Alcatara wheel
I own a CTR FL5 and I really do like the Integra Type S but hate the look of the “tacked on” rear fender flares. Especially that little piece attached to the rear door. Both are great cars but I think I’ll keep my Type R.
Much better wide body integration in the CTR.

Unless you go to the track all the time Type S makes more sense for daily driving which 99% of type R people also will be doing. Both cars are great but I would still choose Integra Type S, makes more sense, since you get performance of Type R but its easier to live with on daily.
Love Acura not a Honda fan or anything but if I had chose I'm going with Acura all day
Still love the spoiler of the Type R. Love the championship white. Maybe that's why I like the Type R but this Integra with bronze wheels just undeniably looks so good.

Acura is my choice…beautiful interior…brand prestige….more sophisticated looking. Honda looks better than the previous model, but that Acura looks incredible. Saw one the other day…it’s a head turner…the Honda not so much
If we can put the type S exterior on the CTR it would be the perfect CTR 😎 , exhaust and all. I’ll be ok with the FL5 interior but the exterior and exhaust etc…. 🔥🔥on the Type S

Buy youself a low mile FK8 and save a ton and no dought in my mind it will be a classic like the S2000.
The Type S really reminds me of the CT4 Blackwing or the newer Vauxhall Monaros with that front end, the flares and then that really sharp line down the side. Good stuff Dut!
Im sure through ECU tweaks / dash mods. You could get the F1 inspired dash mode and Lap R feature in the Type S. Just sayin’
I wanna see a DC2 or DC5 on the channel! Leaning towards DC5 Type S just cuz I own one. Lol. Could do a comparison of old K20 vs new K20 and their respective chassis performance and handling. There's nothing like a screaming NA K20 VTEC engine. Especially with internal upgrades with more aggressive cams and everything else.
Hey man best choice because many say Acura is top for comfort sound stability luxury good cars make plus Acura behind always listen customer when report or need fix they do right way no like others company Europe or any others do what they want and ignore world customers bravo man good car i like so much
I really dig everything about the Type-S except the front end more so the grill its just so large.
I think the type s and fk8 is a better combo personally, nsx wins though.
Edit: just made it to the end and 72k is crazy, even 52 is rough for me personally

I love the Type S - it's the ultimate daily...but not for $70k. If you could find one without the insane mark-up, I would trade the GR for it. But that's just me without regard to YT content.
Imagine you could spec either car with options from both like the seats, display, carpet ect

Integra for me!! I'm more of the have fun daily driver guy. And that Integra suspension I hear is more daily friendly.. creature comforts plus performance where it's at
The Integra Type S is pretty dope. I've only seen the A-Spec in the wild so far and even that one is nice. The people crying online when it was announced are just plain wrong, especially considering that aside from the DC5/RSX generation there's always been a 5 door hatch Integra.
There's a little retro car club meet near me every thursday, and last week there were two FL5 Type Rs and two Si's. The coolest thing popped up as well, a Kenmeri Skyline. But I think my favorite from last week was a mint 5th generation Accord SiR wagon... those astute enough can figure out I used to have a 5th gen Accord that I SiR cloned based on my handle here.

Its kinda like the fl5 is aggressive on the inside but subtle on the outside and the integra is aggressive on the outside but subtle on the inside also dut broke his record of just "looking" and actually just looked at it 😂

Man I want a 2023 type s so badly!! If I ever get one or have the money to get one I will keep it forever basically. My first car was an 1999 Acura integra and I loved that thing so much before I totaled it 😢😢😢😢
Everything Dustin “wishes” he can do to the FL5 he can pretty much! If I’m not mistaken a lot of the parts from the Type S could fit the Type R or custom fabricated to fit!
I just sold my 22 SI (to get FL5) for more than I paid meanwhile Integra depreciated 5k from new. I think the same will happen with Type R/S Honda will hold ad 45K used and Integra will be the same. I did get both for MSRP I know that's not the case for everyone.
So happy to hear youre sticking with the Type R. I also recently brought my FL5 to an Acura dealership who has a Type S. And yes the ITS definitely looks really good in person and most definitely sounds better but overall I wouldnt trade it for my Type R either.

If the Type S had at least 25 extra HP from factory, nobody would think twice. When it is just cosmetic differences, the Type S definitely looks more expensive inside and outside. The markups at the dealers start at 10k so at that point you may as well cross shop with a Mercedez CLA45 AMG or a BMW M340i which are selling at MSRP. You may even be able to find a better deal than MSRP. The MB and BMW aren't the same car category but the price will be around the same as the marked up Integra Type S.
My college grad gift to myself may be an FK8 Type R, I work at a dealer and I have been in love with the new Type R even before they came onto the lot, we have a Type S at our Acura dealer and I would add it to your collection if I was you
The dealership I work at has a champ white coming in and we are only 5k over msrp, for reference we sold a Phoenix yellow fk8 for 12k over. We also have a black si coming in!
Saw the video and thought id comment saying thats not a 'real integra' But man it actually really surprised me, Talk about a glow up, Would be dope of you could have your ctr seats in it instead of those luxury styled ones.

Dustin is correct about the timeless subtle design of the FL5 in comparison to the S. The simpler lines and cleaner interior will still look great in 10 years. FL5 for me all day.
I know it wont happen. But if there were ever a greater time for Acura to surprise us all with a Integra Type R release. Even if it were just subtle things like; taller more aggressive rear spoiler, front splitter and sideskirt kit, a little weight reduction, some frame welding for rigidity, support bars front n rear, Track oriented seats like the FL5, suede/Alc interior changes, sportier exhaust, maybe a more aggressive track tune option, and yes of course Champ white with Champ White wheels as a celebration of the first ITR. Yea baby.
… and a $68k starting price plus +$20k dealer markup 😂

@@NickonWheelz yep. They used to offer bargains that competed with the German brands. Now they cost the same and are still not on par.
I remember when the STI came out and had 300HP and cost $29k. At the time it was on part with the M3 and even Porsche in performance.
I called the dealer before driving. This car looks great but it has a 15,000 thousand markup making this car almost 80k. This is 2022 M3 price is even more expensive than the Lexus IS 500 and the cadillac CTS 4V blackwing. It looks amazing but no thanks ACURA you can keep it for 8Ok. I bought my self a 2023 IS F Sport.
I think it's great how they made essentially 2 versions of the car but as you stated the Type R more for the track and raw enthusiast market whereas the Type S is more for the person who is going to just have daily fun with the car and isn't into modding as much and just wants all the creature comforts from the factory. I personally like the looks of the Type S better but I still appreciate the clean styling of the Type R.
In terms of the markups from what I've seen online is people are saying Acura told their dealers they can't sell any Type S's until 30 days after their first delivery of them they're essentially demo models for now, so if that's true maybe it's a good thing since it will give them more time to produce the vehicles while also giving the public a first look at the car and hopefully after those 30 days the dealers bring the prices back down to MSRP. Only time will tell, but great video.
I honestly think the integra is more of a car for people who want to mod. If you think about it, the type r is already setup for track with the bucket seats, suspension and less weight. The integra has seats that are ok but one light want to upgrade.
I own a 2023 Civic Type R in the same color as yours sonic gray pearl I love the 24 Integra type S it stickers for 7k more not including dealer markup

FL5 Type-R is the way to go! $7k cheaper, better appearance and a more raw driving feel. Overall, its a win-win!
The type s definitely a great addition but perfect for your wife. She loves the car and it suits her. Both of ya'll can make content modifying it and mob together as a couple to shows.

idk if u did get it bc i didn’t watch the video fully but i just detailed one at my shop and the seats are very annoying to keep clean the alcantara for some reason just stick to all of the fuzz of your clothing it’s just soemthing to take in mind

It's just your fancy new daily, if you want a daily that's in the Honda family, then get it. There will be cool upgrades for it, so you can play with it.
Glad to see you have a sense of humor with the thumbnail, lol. The way everyone is calling this the type r killer or saying it's better is only a matter of opinion. If you want a tuner car, the type r is better, you want a sport luxary car the type s is better.
Acura is beautifully crafted. Above the grade. Unique in its own

i do wish the fender flares were smoother like the type R's. They remind me a bit of a widebody hellcat. They're not horrible but feel more like they just were slapped on so to speak.

Type S is excellent for people who want a fun and comfortable daily, but it has always been Type R for me. Type R is a sharper and cooler-looking car. They did bespoke body panels for Type R, even BMW doesn't do it for their expensive M cars. Type S also has a stuck-on widebody fender on the rear door. It shows how much FL5 meant for Honda, they went all the way with it. IMO it would be a future classic, no one makes FWD hatch like Honda and FL5 is the pinnacle of it. Looking back from the future, the more hardcore sharper FL5 would have better value as that's how we look back on classics...
Not to say Type S is a worse car, it is a better car for the right people. And the exhaust is definitely better.
Slap those type r seats on the type s and that should’ve bin the type r much more aggressive and race car look stands out the way it should, thats why i love the fk8 its whats a race oriented car should look like

Honestly as much as I want to like the Type S it’s just too expensive for what it is and it leaves so much to be desired especially as a luxury car
I can’t help but think of so many cars I could get at the price of the ITS or even cheaper I think it’s a good car for what it is however for most people it’s a tough sell
