  • Hi UA-camrs, in this video is a basic comparison target test between the 11" - 14" and 17x11" Coiltek Elites Mono's - Showing why its important to have multiple coils depending on the size of targets.
    I didnt want to go through too many settings so I have chosen to run the comparison test on 3 settings, just for argument sake so we can see all coils at these basic setting adjustments.
    1. Enhance Factory preset
    2. Enhance Boosted RX
    3. Normal General
    There are 2 smaller targets
    Second Line is a target the same size - at various depths 150mm 170mm 190mm 200mm and 230mm Depths
    The last test target is a piece of Gold 7.86 grams.
    Hopefully this will provide an insight into what is achievable based on a few adjustments.
    I would be very interested in testing the 14" against the 17x11" on 1 ounce or 2 ounce gold at depths. Based on these tests the 17x11 should see the larger gold deeper than the 14"
    I was surprised on some things in this test. But some target responses were as expected.
    I hope someone gets some value out of this test.

    Hi MG, Watched this vid 2 times now, Fantastic work!!! I wanted to try and get my head around the subtle changes you made with miraculous results!! Its a bit scary how such a little thing like changing from enhanced to normal makes!! And as for factory settings, I try and manipulate my gpz but as I am in "learning" stage with it I don't know if I'm helping or hindering myself!! So much to learn still for me but THANKYOU for all your help.

      Hi Stuart, thats great yeah it is amazing what can be achieved having the flexibility to fine tune the settings compared to the older machines is absolutely excellent for ground stability and depth increase. Same on the GPZ7000 - just get use to your adjustments to get as stable as you can for the grounds, and work the settings to achieve better results. Gold Mode (High Yield, General, Extra Deep) Ground Type (Normal, Difficult, Severe) And your sensitivity will come into play too dull or too high will result in the ground noise for each mode. Depending on the gold your chasing, we may crank the machines up but this loses smaller faint targets and vice versa too low and we miss deeper targets but Enhances the smaller signals. Thats why I choose to go over the same windows in various modes with various coils. Helps to fish out more than going over it once. All the best - M.G

    Thanks MG, very informative. I'm now quite sure the 14" is the first Elite coil I need to buy to supplement my bag of coils & I'll be out tomorrow with a few sinkers to dig some test holes & have a play with settings. Cheers.

      Thats great Ned, test grounds are super important. Thats why I choose various types of metals as well on some tests, but more so a test area with different sizes at depths, with changing soil types. We seem to get too many people advising they find a 1 gram at 1 1/2 feet deep etc etc - but gold will signal a different response based on shape size and orientation, and then obviously coil size. List goes on hah. But these tests are great because its a basic comparison with same settings. I wish you all the best on your venture, and surely the 14" Elite will surprise you, I know I was - its definitely my go to coil but not my only choice. Cheers M.G

    Thanks for going through all your effort: digging all them holes, sharing your knowledge and also shooting the videos... & lets not forget the very long hours behind the scenes that it takes edit and upload all of that to UA-cam = Great Job & Great Video Work !!!! Thank you for all of that!!!!
    And to all of us who know & love our 4500's & and who also bought the 14" elite. We all know what a great deep sensitive hard working machine it is... And how that 14" elite Coil "super charged the 4500 perfectly"! With that coil ~ the 4500 was like a brand new machine!
    I also agree 100% there are limits with all technology including Mono coils... Areas where using the DD are needed! In the winter months when the snow is falling up in the higher elevations ~ I go to the lower elevation areas.... These areas all have been heavily mined since the 1850s. And inside these 1850s mining sites there are areas that are worse to detect than others ~ where the combination of very very high mineral strata and lots of old rusty 1850 trash everywhere make all Mono coils go crazy... You can try to adjust the instability out a number of ways even using cancel mode but all result in a loss of depth if it works at all. I have found in areas like that my faithful ~ 11 Minelab DD was the only thing that would work.. But even that had it limitations. There were still some of the worst places in there that were still undetectable! .
    Recently I bought a "Detech 8" DD" = its the equivalent of the Sadie Coil but ~ only in DD. Wow, I love that little coil!!!! That little 8" DD it has opened up areas to me that I couldn't go in before ~ These area are now detectable !!! The Detech 8" DD is also (Water Proof!!!) the Minelab DD Coil is not... and the "Detech 8" DD" is also very light and works great navigating through Trash & Minerals that wern't workable with a mono or even the larger 11" DD.
    So In conclusion: YES... it is good to have more than one coil in your kit! Those coils will allow you to go in more diverse areas... .i.e. areas that have been avoided by others!
    Thanks again for your great videos mate!
    Gerard

And yeah they are a dynamite combo the 45's with the Elite 14. All the best M.G

    Thanks for taking the time to make this vid mate, I've been looking forward to it. I've recently bought a gpx 4000 so i dont have enhance but i think i may have to buy the 11inch for use in sensitive smooth timing as i mainly detect in super thick scrub with very hot ground.
    I have one of the detech 15 ultimate spiral/flat wound dd's that runs real sweet in normal or sensitive extra so bar how heavy it is i have that for deeper ground and I'm really happy with it, extremely sensitive at depth for a big dd.
    cheers Daryl

      Thanks Daryl, yeah the Detech 15's are a tad on the heavy side. But we tend to get use to the weight after a while. Yeah by far at the top of the table for DD's - Thats great hope the GPX treats you well with some good finds. The 11's punch great - you seen the response on the 11 in the vid when bumped into Normal - I almost fell over with the response difference - hah. I wasnt expecting that much of a signal to be honest. Lol

      @@MinelabGold I was wondering about your opinion on the 17" x 11" Advantage Nugget Finder? I have a 25" Nugget Finder and a 14" Coiltek Elite. Do I really need something in between? I appreciate the advice.

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 років тому +1

      @@edkubinski Hi Ed, I wouldnt say you need something in between those coils.
      Personally depending on the grounds type if the area is known for gold, shallow gold, small and large known gold - then yeah those coils you have are an excellent tool to have in your kit.
      But maybe if there is known small gold as well. I would go for an increase in sensitivity which could gain some more wonderful finds that the larger coils have trouble with.
      I guess the options would be a great small coil for GPX - Maybe something like 9" Elite - or if the budget allowed GM1000 SDC2300 GPZ7000 all these 3 machines are more sensitive to small targets than GPX with small coils. - Hope that helps

    I barely listen for a signal..... I put the threshold down as far as it goes and jack up The Doc's gold screamer and use it as a threshold........ All I'm looking for is a change in threshold using my headphones, it's not difficult to shave off an inch of ground with your boot when you hear a change on the threshold and look for a signal at that point ........ Thanks for the video brother .... I still use my trusty SD2200D ....
    The SD2200D has an automatic ground balance (tracking) that works exceptionally good And can you dig it ! .... Dig it all ...... Happy New Year bra ..... By the way twist the bag at the top where it seals and tie it with a zip strap..... when your done you simply pull the nugget out !

    Hi MG, thanks for taking the time & effort to give your followers this comparison of the 11, 14 & 17x11. My question is, what determines the depth of the 17x11? I'm thinking the minor axis must have some influence in reducing its depth. Any thoughts appreciated.

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Tony, thats correct elliptical will lose depth compared to round, for example 17 inch round much deeper, but less sensitive to small as well. The 17x11 would be maybe a good all round type coil. I guess the advantage is being able to push in with the tip, more ground coverage and depth compared to 11 inch round. Thats correct it loses depth from being narrow. ;) Many thanks for tuning in

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 років тому +3

      Hi Rehman, cheers mate. I probably can't make comparison on other manufacturer coils. Only because I have Coiltek Elites.
      Smaller the coil better sensitivity to small targets, bigger the coil better depth and less sensitive to small targets at depth
      Round coils more coil saturation with ground noise, Elliptical Coils less depth and less saturation but good for pinpoint and pushing into tight spots where some round coils wont fit.
      Thats in a nutshell type of explanation but hope that helps.

      Yeah for sure, it just shows in certain ground conditions where a majority of people may operate in enhance mode with an 11" that maybe they could increase to the 14" still maintaining good ground stability what it can open up in response. We seen the 11 missed the gold in enhance but the 14 definitely a dig target even in an FP setting. Where as the other end of the scale the 11" Will clean up the small sub targets where the 14 just cant see.

    • @MinelabGold

      Hi HH, here are the sizes and weights for you - Material Type Lead
      Smallest Target 0.2g *30 - this is in the right hand side hole in the tests.
      Next Size target - 0.6g *24 - The hole on the left.
      The other area with 5 targets all same size - 1.0g *26 - Varying from 150mm 170mm 190mm 200mm and finally the deepest @ 230mm
      Minelab measures Ferrous and Conductivity. Gold being a higher conductivity than Lead, There was the recent video with the 11" getting the 0.05g gold at roughly 40 to 50mm depth. Which I wasnt surprised on the response on the 0.2g at only 18mm to 20mm tops.
      Order of Conductive Metals: Silver, Copper, Gold, Zinc, Nickel, Brass, Bronze, Iron, Platinum, Steel, Lead, Stainless Steel.
      Hope that helps - All the best
      P.S - the grounds are always setup so if there are any tests or settings you would like me to cover, I could simply go out and run the test for you, just shoot through an email or send a comment, I can also bury more gold, I have a lot of shapes and sizes weights etc.
