The MK7.5 Sweepstakes GTI is starting to shape up. We just finished installing a Big Brake Kit from StopTech and put them behind some beautiful Nuespeed wheels. The brakes may be a bit overkill for a stock GTI, but they will be much needed with the big power we’re adding later in the build. We also installed new state of the art mounting and balancing machines from CEMB which made mounting tires to the new wheels a breeze.

Big VW Fan. I've owned them since I was 16 from Bugs, to Buses, Ghia's to Cabriolets and most recently a Beetle ('06) and a EOS ('09). There is something about German engineering that puts a smile on your face. Still currently running a German fleet with 2 VW's and 2 Mercedes Benz vehicles, but this GTI is wicked! can't wait to win it, or see it when its finished. Perfect So Cal GTI!

I'm waiting to save 50 bucks so i could at least have one entry. My mk4 is on its last legs and this thing would be a dream come true.
Well, if you have to save up 50 bucks you wont be able to maintain the car anyway lol
Oil and filter change is around $50, $200 for brake pads, $600 to $800 for tires depending on which brand you get, you still need gas which is like $50 to fill up, keep the car washed and cleaned with, insurance and registration expenses.
It’s not a Porsche so Volkswagen is a lot more affordable and still fun to own/drive.
Edit: I would love to own a Porsche 911 Turbo but I’m still happy with GTI (MK6)
whenever i think of my mk4, i get all nostalgic snd sh!t, cuz' i loved that car and drove it like i stole it. i regret not taking care of her and selling her to this day.

Rotors do warp, it is not pad deposition. It is more common on cars with automatic transmissions and happens when you have to slam on breaks really hard and come to a full stop and stand still for a while. In that case the break pads work as heat insulators. The heat built up on the rotor cannot escape and the differential cooling of the rotor warps it.
frosty A B also inclement weather. These guys mean well but they are just pushing a product to sell.
Just can't help thinking the rear ride height is too low, looks like there's something really heavy in the trunk. I'd probably raise it a half inch to give the car a more even stance.
It's how it sits visually in the wheel well. They could pull it off but would have to replace a bunch of stuff to change the shape of the wheel well. Not worth doing unless you can do it right, in my opinion.

How did you solve the problem with an ABS pump, to knowing that your car have six piston calipers instead of single piston caliper ?
Hey .... Quick product question .... Have you fixed the issue with the short hoses on the TSI gen 1 PCV solution .... I was gonna buy it but then I read reviews stating the hoses we're to short and that if I were to purchase the kit I pretty much would be on my own for finding out how to make the hoses longer .... I ended up purchasing a competitors product so that I didn't have to deal with an incomplete kit .... Btw, this is not the first time an ECS product has been to short .... My ECS brake lines on the front were to short and I ended up having to change them for nuespeed items of the correct length at my expense .... Not cheap .... I wish you would at least listen to customers about issues even if you didn't reimburse them .... Like call the kits or versions V2 or similar to signify an update to the design

What’s the weight of old and new breaks? How many pistons have the original one? New wheels are lighter then the original?

Are those neuspeed wheels 19s? I wanna fit a BBK but dont want to deal with 19s. Currently running Rotis KPS 18. Will they fit?

The wheels are 18x8.5" et45 all around, but we used 10mm spacers in the rear to get the fitment a little better. Tires are 225/40/18
6 piston brakes are overkill for this car. It's too small to need brakes this big and a lot more unsprung weight when a 4 piston caliper would've done just fine.

Assuming the new wheels are 19” x 8.5 ET45? Since you said the original 18” Austin’s aren’t big enough for the new brakes to fit etc?

Wow, what a difference those wheels made. The new ones that come on the mk7.5 are so ugly anything would be better but these really look nice. Sweet brakes too.

Daniel Mejia I believe the rear rotors were replaced with the stock size and the stock calipers were retained.

mm... quite strange, the surface of contact of the pad on the rotor seems exactly the same, I guess that the pad will be bigger but the contact surface seems the same.
