Worked for me! Thank you so much! 2008 LR2. I was about to change the brake light switch and try a bunch of other things. Like someone else said, spare fuse was under the cover. Perfect!
Excellent! Maybe this is why my 2013 LR2 US ver. sometimes spins the starter but doesn't complete the start up sequence. In other words, just cranks without hitting off. (Too many words? I'm sorry) Some commenters say wiggling the fuses helps. I think that is key with all fuses. Jigger it a bit. But don't bend the metal! Easy does it. All of us should try that and look carefully at them and the home where they sleep for signs of corrosion, however slight. Then clean it and re-insert back in their slot. May solve. Thank YOU for posting. Helping is good. : _ )
Thank you my friend, I bought one today can’t start it so hopefully after your information I can start it tomorrow, thanks from Paul in Edinburgh Scotland 🏴🍻
I had the same issues & four garages couldn’t find the fault. Took it to main dealership. They found wiring fault , damaged wire that goes down under subframe to starting motor / damaged. After repair all good.
Thank you!!! I just bought a 2008 LR2 today for $1000. The owner of the lot told me he would sell it to me for that low price because he had put way too much cash into getting it to start ( the key fob was dead, and IT WOULDNT START and WAS THROWING ALL THE SAME MESSAGES AS YOURS IN THE DASH) A friend and I were able to get it started by replacing the battery, soldering a new battery in the fob and then pressing on the starter relay... Needless to say it still hasn't started on its own with the button. I would put that $1000 and then some that this fuse is the exact problem. I'm going to try in the am and I will update. Thank you though for making this video because I believe that you saved me a ton of money I don't have and a lot of time and trouble. People like you making videos like this make this world a better place🥳 so ya I got a beautiful $7000+ car for $1352 out the door with taxes and registration (I will post update asap) thank you again
Fuse F2 feeds the gearbox control module. Without that it won’t know if it’s in park so won’t start. Why did it blow the fuse? Has it done it again? if so check for damaged wiring.
Thank you so much! I would've had to miss work but found this video and it worked! I didn't even have to take the fuse out. Just pushed down and wiggled a bit and it worked. You're my hero!
I had the same problem with my Freelander, found the fault to be the copper contacts on the solenoid were warn. replaced the contacts and haven't had the problem since.
@@johnlindsay2415 Yeah, the solenoid copper ring is not makin' proper contact with the contacts on the starter body. Remove the contacts on the starter body and file them down so that they drop down a bit e.g. 1/16 or 1milimeter. you will be able to see how much they worn and take it from there. be careful of the thin gauge wire when removin' the starter motor.
Thanks for the video, very helpful! I have an LR3 with nearly identical issues. Did you remove the 15a transmission fuse off camera & then install a new one on camera? The fuse slot wasn't just empty before you started diagnosing the problem, right? How did you know to replace the transmission fuse? Did you have a transmission warning on the instrument panel? Thanks!
freelander 2 hates low voltage, needs 12.6 , even if everything lights up may not be enough for all the multitude of sensors, first sign hdc fault comes up, your battery needs charging or better still get an uprated battery.

This worked for me (January 2021, UK). The fuse is for the starter motor. Spare fuses are kept on the inside of the fuse box cover.
Awesome buddy !
I am so happy that you resolve the problem!

Hey, when you say copper contacts on the solenoid, do you mean on the starter motor ?
