The guy was so good in Dunkirk as the spitfire pilot.
One of the few times he used his real accent!
Agree! He was so good in that role! I was very anxious on that plane sequence haha!
I love that film!
watching The Gold right now, he's great in it.. no trace of this lovely Scottish accent, he plays a bloke from Kent
Jack was brilliant in Dunkirk as the British spitfire pilot. Great to hear his Scottish accent.
No issues understanding his accent. He has a lovely voice.
I’m Scottish and have never really got why it’s a struggle in London. I can speak and be understood all round the world but get “sorry what was that” all the time in London. The ear for accents isn’t great. It’s either that or they don’t like Scottish people.
@@John64125 It's definitely a wind-up.
I am I the only one who thinks maybe this guy would be a good choice for the next James Bond
1st one was Scottish too
i think so too
In the mix fore sure... Maybe Joe ALwyn or the Irish Guy from Normal People (sorry for the name), and many others but i think it won't be a big name like Henry Cavill
Not after what happened at Stansted Airport.
A bit too young? Give him a few more years and he’s the man!
and that ladies and gents is Saorise Ronans beau ❤
Nooo, I love Scottish accent! I love it when actors get to use it.
He has a Scottish Borders accent anyway which is very clear. He’s not Glaswegian after all.
He is great in wild horses. Really brings a comical element to his role.
He is River Cartwright in Slow horses. Amazing show
@@gogolbb ah that’s the name, not wild horses ha. Thanks
Jack and Gary are brilliant in that show, Great chemistry and Jack is a great actor so far the work I have seen of his has been really good he picks good roles and works with great actors. I loved him in War and Peace, Mary Queen of Scotts , Dunkirk and Slow Horses can't wait for Season 3 later this year
I watched Dunkirk several times to see his beautiful presence. Such an angel face
Something very melodic about the Scottish accent!! When he pronounces R
@Ian Robert Davies another Scottish actor? Never heard the name
he should try saying "purple burglar alarm" and see how that goes
For some reason, when I read this out loud, it sounded indian on my voice, lol
@@beyondinsanitybr lol
dude is great in Slow Horses, although Gary Oldman (like always) hit the spotlight
hoping to see more decent spy thriller like this show in the future
Jack was great in Slow Horses👏🏻
How one earth people can't understand what he is saying is beyond me. It's pretty clear. English speakers should have no issue.
It's because he's toning his accent down. James MacAvoy has mentioned something similar before.
@@leaflaurel Many Scottish actors tone down their accents when they do interviews it makes it easier for others to understand especially the viewers and the person asking question. It's also less stressful for the person too because if they use their strong accents I think other people act weird and stupid some people become a bit offensive. I would tone down my accent too if I had a strong foreign accent of my first language.
It’s not that we tone it down it’s just a matter of slowing it down we tend too speak very fast
@@TOMMYBHOY21 Exactly. Just taking time and enunciating rather than speaking normal pace without thinking. Thats when people struggle with understanding accents often is when people speak too fast so words get lost lol
I find Scottish accents perfectly intelligible even at speed, I don't know how you could not understand as a native English speaker as long as they don't change the words.
He was great in the BBC's War and Peace ....it was an excellent miniseries.
You should watch him in Slow Horses, and Mary Queen of Scots he is in with Margot Robbie, Joe Alwyn and Saoirse Ronan (Jack girlfriend)
My Joe Alwyn 😍 Also Slow Horses is great.
hes so handsome
He's gorgeous. And seems like a cool guy. Good person too❤
I love this guy, only seen him in Graham's show and he's so funny; has a sense of humor that can be taken as rude, I love it; looks like the kind of person that can get into trouble for not knowing when to stop talking 😁. Plus he's handsome 😍😘
Gosh time flies so quick. It was heartbreaking on Tunnel.
He was the main character's son and he was so young.
Now he is a fine gentleman.
i was in a shop in yorkshire with my m8 from Greenock, 10 whole minutes of him saying he wanted "acanolucozade" to a thoroughly perplexed shop keeper.
🤣. I'm from Greenock so I know what you mean.
Jack's hand lives its own life
He was stunning in Dunkirk
Scottish Accent brings me happiness
That is hilarious!
Graham Norton did well in choosing these guests!!! Austin Butler is adorable.
He from Scottish Borders ad lived in Edinburgh
He literally sounds exactly like Ewan McGregor when he uses a thicker scottish accent in Trainspotting 1 and 2 lol
Cartwright!
oh my god he now reminds me of lewis capaldi it's the way he sort of looks up too
For a non Scottish person here ..
It really is a Nice accent✨. I'm annoyed with people who purposely choose to not make an effort of Listening to you.👁️👄🤌
Aside from being scottish he does bare a resemblance to Ewan Mcgregor
They can play brothers or even father and son. I can see that happening in the future....if Jack keeps up a good career he can continue working with great actors. He has already worked with great actors well known in the industry.
We cloned Ewan McGregor whilst he's living so that at any moment we've always got a nicely accented handsome man of any generation with a gingery beard ready to act.
why is the outro music so fuckign loud
His accent isn’t even that strong. Go further north and see how much stronger they get 😂
Don't even need tae go north just go somewhere where they're no making the median household wage.
Check his film Calibre
The fun is Jack doesn’t have that strong a Scottish accent not to understand
Well Saoirse likes and understands as do we. I swear with people including native English speakers they're just so used to American that even from England and the greater UK they just can't be bothered to learn it
Congratulations on your marriage. 🎉

@@feinschmegga there are very sad people in this world maybe suffering from mental health problems
Who else is not stuck in the never ending loop of The Graham Norton show 👀
YAWN
Who’s the cutie to his left?? 😍
It's Ashley Banjo 😊
@@MusicLoverGirlie Wasn't he in a dance group? Diversity? I briefly remember them
Guys from the Borders, hardly impenetrable
That's a proper accent when he builds it, has to, from "american" through "proper english" through southern scottish, through the real deal. That's all he had to decompose first to sound english. His true Scott self makes him invaluable..🥰😘🤣
i was taught english in Scotland, They're great people and I couldn't be more proud of being accepted by them. Fisrt thing I was asked coming back : Lose the accent ! My Fair Lady all over again..The difference is, we all try to sound received pronouciation American to sound international
"Do you do oak milk?" I don't get it...
oat, not oak
Yawn
Is it just me or is Jack like a younger version of Martin Freeman. His mannerisms are so so similar and also looks so much like him
He sounds like he’s an Englishman putting on a bad Scots accent! 😂
He was born in England and raised near the border
@@LindaC616
He's Scottish. He was born in England due to his parents going through IVF, but he is 100% Scots.
Place of birth doesn't equal nationality or identity.
@@Mark-Haddow it equals nationality for a LOT of countries
@@LindaC616
Name these countries. But again, he's Scottish. He doesn't consider himself English, and he frequently talks about how his parents went through IVF to have him, the only reason they were in England. My younger siblings were all born in Germany, that doesn't make them German.
@Mark-Haddow Identity is one thing. I'm not disputing that.
The US is a huge 1. Tell me why all of the hospitals along the border with Mexico shut down their maternity wards. I happen to know England is another because my best friend in high school was half British, half american, born in Belgium. Canada. Lots of countries
This actor is so boring and self-absorbed, no wonder he has years of career but never gets enough to be a star, Saoirse bestie, you can do better (Hi Paul Mescal lmao)
uuummm this is rude! Wtf.....🙄
Julianne B. He's a good actor but he doesn't have that special thing like Paul does and that's ok, I don't think it's right to include his relationship in this topic, it's just about his career
Rude? it's just a fact, the least engagement he has is because of his girlfriend, that's why he posts a lot of her content but then he makes speeches that they are a private couple lmao Paul Mescal with little career time ended him and I hope hope deuxmoi is right, it would be lovely for Saoirse to date a really successful actor like Paul Mescal
@@julianneb.3585 go touch some grass you creep
He is a very talented and versatile actor with wide range. I am quite impressed by some of the works he has done. He is definitely getting noticed more and more. That being said, he seems very nervous during interviews probably because he’s very shy. However it doesn’t imply he’s boring in person. Since we know very little about what he is really like in real life, we’d better leave his private life out of this.
Make him Bond.
Just post the whole episode, 1 minute clips are stupid and annoying for anyone who isn't in UK
