he seems a little buzzed all the time. like he's had a few beers or shots... but i love me some Gerard Butler. also He and James McAvoy should play brothers in a movie.
Scots, are normally just like that, dead bubbly and excited, or it's serious but funny at the same time. If you believe it or not, he hasn't actually had a drink in 15 years.
As an American, some of these make complete and total sense. "Rank" can be used exactly the same way here, it's just uncommon, and "wee bit" I think most people would know just means "a little". Or "bevvy" as short for "beverage". Even something like "gaun yersel'"; I'd probably be very confused in the moment, but it is just saying "go on yourself" with a Scottish accent, which is a bit like "go on with your bad self" -- a phrase many Americans would get -- so it makes sense. But "gettin' the messages" -- that one cracked me up🤣 I loved the explanation too. And I'd never have guessed "jobby" in a million years.
I’m totally shocked that he didn’t mention “dreich” (pronounced dreeeechh), which describes a dull, damp and miserable day in Scotland. The weather is such a big issue in Scotland, and the word “dreich” is truly ICONIC! Love everything about Scotland 🏴🏴🏴🏴😘😘😘.

One of the coolest least comprehensible accents along with irish.
Tibbs142 they aren't that hard. Americans use all sorts of crooked eyed terms for things too.
Lauren Sullivan Just listen to a glasgow accent and you’ll change ur mind. Gerard’s lost alot of his accent by the sounds of it
Irish is a snap compared to Scottish (to understand).
@@Jamie-kv9eg Weak compared to the North. It's a whole other language up in Inverness area
I'm the only person who understands both and can tell the difference.
Ahhh, the delightful Mr Butler... I could happily listen to him reading out the entire telephone directory all day and night... Sigh...
Lucy Tustian hahaha best comment!
Is this like a secret episode of Outlander or..
i watch this thinking in Outlander
Yes lmao
My mom and dad visited the U.K. 30 years ago. They said the English were snooty, but the Scots were so warm and friendly.
*I'm killing my career one moment at a time yes you r sir* 😂😂😂
Surely that would be starring in the .....Fallen trilogy. He's actually great fun in this though
I had no idea Gerard Butler was so frickin hilarious lmao 😂 This was definitely entertaining
He's accent is different in the films ain't it?
You have to watch his chat show interviews he’s a pretty silly dude.
I love how much more Scottish he becomes 😂😂 we have the best slang in Scotland. Goan yirsel son 😂😂
Whats that barry shite about though?
+Claire Docherty
I've been dreaming about visiting there for a long time. I have a traveler's dreams, but not a traveler's wallet.

@@wullymc1 I’m guessing that’s a east coast thing 😂 I’m Glaswegian and never heard of it
I agree hen
It' s so funny hearing all of these phrases as a fellow Scot who uses the majority of them and realising how much people seem to like them.
Scottish accents make me weak. Throw on a kilt, and I'm done.
😂same
Oi!
Watch Outlander. You'll seriously grow weak then
@@kennemedia01 oh I already do lol I keep several scenes on repeat lol
I do not care what this man wears... mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm 😈😈😈😈😆😆😆😆
When Gerry Butler says your name is his favourite Scottish word! 💕💕👍🏻👍🏻
Hello thanks for your love and support
I love how his shopping list is potatoes, carrots and turpentine.
I like how half of the slang/Gerard's explanations are associated to being drunk. Truly Scottish indeed, 10/10.
I worked in overseas with many Scotts and I must say they were very friendly and easy going compared to English or French.. I just had a little problem at the beggining with their accent but I could catch it in few weeks, nice people really for drinking..
he seems a little buzzed all the time. like he's had a few beers or shots... but i love me some Gerard Butler. also He and James McAvoy should play brothers in a movie.
We Scots are always pished.
Scots, are normally just like that, dead bubbly and excited, or it's serious but funny at the same time. If you believe it or not, he hasn't actually had a drink in 15 years.
I saw 2 Americans play brothers in a film last week. What a great film.
I didn't know Gerard Butler is Scottish.
But when he smiled he kinda look like James McAvoy so I think "Yeah he's definitely Scottish"
James actually kind of looks like a mini Gerard. Really mini.
And I'd never have guessed "jobby" in a million years.
a actual love this and don’t know why am watching this am Scottish 😂
Same lmao
Niamh Dougall same lol
Niamh Dougall I would like to immitate that accent, but not possible. Anyway its really cool and funny to hear it
Because it's Girard, girl! I could listen to him saying any thing!
Alan C. what one ? the one he had in the video was Glaswegian
Gerard Butler for Shrek 5!! Make him Shrek’s long lost brother or his cousin
NO
Oh, for the love of the gods, don't make us sit through another jobby shrek movie.
Spaghet Boi Yeeeeeeees!!!!Yes!!Yes!!!Gerryyyy, we want at Shrek 5!!!NOW!!!It is a request!!!
Spaghet Boi does not make sense..
Shrek's wee brother, Shugg!
the fact that this very same man had a breath taking opera like voice 15 years ago astounds me.
I’m totally shocked that he didn’t mention “dreich” (pronounced dreeeechh), which describes a dull, damp and miserable day in Scotland.
The weather is such a big issue in Scotland, and the word “dreich” is truly ICONIC!
Love everything about Scotland
🏴🏴🏴🏴😘😘😘.
TONIGHT .. WE DINE .. IN EDINBURGH!!!
Bader SCRAN!!!!
Tonight wee dine in onthank !!

Haha down south in Edinburg sounds a bit more posh I like Glasgow 😄

Gerard Butter
Such a fun person with a beautiful heart and soul
My ovaries and uterus are screaming for Gerard right now.
Your ovaries and uterus have a lot of competition
Not just a wee bit but a lot
You're not alone 😉😉😉
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Thirsty? lemon, lemon, lemon, lemon, lemon, lemon.
Do you bleed ?
Raise you hand if you are here after watching "outlander" . Love the scottish accent and scottish men lol
Beyond the law

Yes dear you’re right I am happy being a Scottish...nice to hear that please free feel to inbox me on my email address when you want to Okay I really appreciate you as my real fans dear butlergrerad139@gmail.com
Hearing Gerard Butler say "BAWBAG" was something I never knew I needed in my life!
I spent a few weeks in Scotland, and I loved how often the word "wee" turns up!
You'll hear it a lot in the South Island of New Zealand too - a lot of Scottish heritage there.
When someone asks me how the scottish flag looks like, all I see in my mind is Gerard Butler's face.
Gerard Butler, Phantom 😘
You age so fine. 👌🏻
Ruizu
Agreed 😍
Yep, I too agree!
actually the first time i saw him was in Dracula 2001. and now i have watched all the movies he is in
Was he drunk during this? Lol
He was steamin
He was pure melted mate 😂😂 nah in reality that’s just us Scots
Yeah thats what they all sound like
Gerard Butler doesn’t drink. He had some alcohol problems and after that he stopped drinking. I think he hasnt been drinking for 15 years now
He's not Demoman
I love these videos so much! They’re so much fun to watch! I love English and Scottish terminology/slang!
You have no idea how many times I've watched this.
My knowledge of Scotland is based entirely on Trainspotting, Groundskeeper Willie and this video
I'd suggest you visit us then cause that's no gid enough 😂
You should throw a bit of Still Game into that mix (it’s on Netflix). It’s based in Glasgow, and even more specifically, it’s based around the town I used to live in, but the name of their town is fiction.
@@rebekahmcdermott5504 I'll look it up, thanks!
😂 If you have Wattpad there’s a book called Top And Tail based in Glasgow (some of it’s in Edinburgh) and they use a but of Scottish slang and vocabulary ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I wouldn’t read it if you’re homophobic.
Scottland is Bonnie, can't wait to visit again. So green 😊👍 Ireland is also beautiful.
❤ how the Scottish speak! So melodious to my ear!
It's really a beautiful extension of the language, as is the Irish in my humble opinion. I'm a 5th generation American, but extremely proud of my British, Scottish, and Irish heritage (and a little Welsh too, ;-).
@@gabbyhayes1568 All the accents and melodic tones of those countries are just more pleasing to my ear than American english....though it is fun listening to a Bostonian 😊
