This video is excellent! I got my umbrella plant 4 years ago and it's been a journey. I was never able to keep plants alive before this one. I love all the detailed information you provided. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video...I feel better about my scheflerra's annual June/July hissy fit. It tends to drop leaves for a few weeks in the late spring/early summer. Now I wonder if that's related to the outside foliage changing the scheflerra's light source or turning on the a/c indoors. Things to note for next spring/summer.
Very informative! Mine has some wrinkled leaves, not soft, not dry, not dropping, just wrinkled (some of them), is it also inconsistent watering? Thanks!!
It depends on what you mean by wrinkled. If it's more shrivelled then this is usually under watered. But if it's more curly then this is the inconsistent watering I was taking about. Good luck! 👍
Not yet but it's in the queue. I haven't had them in so long I'll probably have to buy one with fungus gnats just to show you how to get rid of them! 😂
If my umbrella plant lost a lot of leaves and is looking rather thin will those leaves eventually come back and fill out. Should I ever cut it back? It's almost to the ceiling now.
I wouldn't propagate it until it's healthy. It sounds like it is not getting enough light and it's stretching upwards. I would move it closer towards a window or get it a plant light! 😊
I have a question ive had my umbrella for 20 yrs ive repotted it again as it was dying its been a fortnite all the leaves are drooping but not brown ive removed the dead leaves but still no sign of life 💔
Thank You! Other videos were just fluff, no actual useful information. This was exactly what I needed! Just moved house a few weeks ago, and soft (not dry) drooping leaves, and newer growth was 'leggy' and long. What a combo. Any hints for watering cycles for those of us with umbrella plants on lava rocks? This seems to be hard to get information on/figure out, as you can't just stick your finger under the soil. Thanks!
I have been waiting to be approved on your facebook page. i want to share some pictures of mine. My friend past away on the 8th of this month and i no it need help but not sure how to do it.

Sounds like you're on the right track!
Thanks for your video. If a pot is too big will that result in the plant not growing at all?
It could cause root rot. That's the biggest worry of having it in a pot that's too big.

It sounds like it could be a watering issue. You'll have to check the soil and see if it is too wet. That would be my first guess in this situation.
@thegirlwithashovel I think I've overwatered it thanks for uour reply love from the UK 🇬🇧

With the leggy comment it sounds like you should first increase your light. Then you can have more water in your pot without having to worry! 😉
My plant has some sticky, sappy stuff on it but I don't see any little bugs or scale??? Help.
They're probably there. Check for any webbing in the leaf joints...

Are we best watering from the top or the bottom?
😂
