  • Forward facing sonar a.k.a. LiveScope has become very polarizing in the fishing community. The haters have a list of reasons. I was interested in taking someone out in my boat (my wife) who doesn't fish much and has never experienced LiveScope or the continuous social media chatter about the topic. I wanted to get an honest, organic reaction. Here' how our day went.

    She was really able to bring out the pros and cons of livescope, and an excellent point about how it would be valuable to a guide for the customers. You're right, there is no in between opinion, it's like Billy Ray Cyrus singing Achy-Breaky Heart, you either love it or hate it, Lol.

    Hi Crystal! Great to meet you and know that Gabe made such a wise choice! Also, your daughters look just like you! Another great video Gabe! I heard you or Crystal say she was too far right on one of her casts. Do you pan your transducer left and right for the best return to obtain directional accuracy? I got my DS666 last year and was mistakenly casting to the image on the screen. I found out over the off-season that the screen only shows the distance to/depth of the fish; not the actual position within the beam. Now when I see a fish 60' out, I realize it could be anywhere within the 20' beam width. Have you found any way other then panning to get directional accuracy?

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the kind comment. I'm very fortunate. Ya I just pan. When I get the strongest return I know that's the cast.

    Thank you Crystal Montgomery for your input on FFS. Thank you for taking time out of your date day to do this. Great catches girl.
    @THM would you ask her for those who choose not to use it or can’t afford it, is it good in tournaments, which knock a lot of people out of even the small tournaments because they can’t afford it. I could have one, I chose not to. Shocker huh. 😂😂😂🤷‍♀️🎣
    I believe it’s easier for people or they wouldn’t use it. No one is casting unless they see a fish on the screen. I agree with Crystal, it takes away from enjoying the scenery and nature. But, I believe it’s hurting our fisheries. I can see a decline in cedar last year and this year.
    Does anyone want to spend 12 hours on an already extremely pressured lake and leave with nothing? No. But that’s fishing.
    Ok. I’ll shut up now. I think EVERYONE knows my opinion. 😂😂. I don’t mean or want to disrespect anyone. If I have ever offended anyone on the THM stream or videos, I am sorry from the bottom of my heart. Great video and thanks for doing it and sharing your personal day with everyone.
    Tell Crystal thank you so much and she’s got awesome taste on landscaping. I love it.

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Stephanie. I don't think she has an opinion as far as tournaments go. Fishing pressure and catch and release make bass smarter. We have to learn new ways to catch them. There are way to many tournaments on your home pond. There are some good 10 hp lakes in your area that aren't overfished.
      Most of the time technology is designed to make things easier and more efficient. I enjoy learning new ways to catch fish. It's about having fun and we had fun. I'll tell her you like the land scaping.

    Ffs is destroying the sport , ive seeing guys with 3 transducers on their boats at $100 club tourneys. It's just ridiculous the amount of junk u need to compete and uts so good u can't compete with out it. That's the problem I have with it. You are forced to use it

      Aaron we fish a 1750 acre lake with 40 boat tournaments pretty much every weekend, including holiday weekends. Not counting fun fisherman using FFS. How long before you see a decline in that lake. We’re already seeing a decline from last year and again this year. Won’t take long before not much to fish for except ounces-1 lbs and it’s a good day if you happen to catch a 2, 3, or 4 lber. Of course, as EVERYONE knows, I don’t nor will I ever use FFS. We will stop first. Great for tourism in an already depressed area in Southern Illinois. This is our best 9.9 hp lake. Sad huh?

      @@stephanieslaton1781 it isn't the pressure it's the fact people are keeping them fish, i fish a lake 3000 acres, we'd nighters, and multiple weekend tourneys all yr, the lake is cnr due to pollution and it takes 25 pds every tourney I've already caught 2 30 pd bags this yr.
