We just came back from Stockton Lake Missouri that's what we were using was the 2.75 paddle tail jig really enjoyed the video looks like you got some nice fish congratulations on the 14th Place you're moving up
Its the small things that make a good tournament angler. Whether its recognizing a bum hook, or color, bait size, or any combination. That is what makes us fishing nerds better & more consistent. Great stuff in the water, keeping calm with a positive mindset. (Its not easy) Thats how guys learn to WIN! Hopefully we'll see each other on the podium...👊
Good Job!!! I was there two weekends ago for a two day tournament with our club from Collinsville Il. I had a decent day one with just a little over 11# day two I got no keepers and the caption filled his live well..I was in 3rd after day 1 and I finished 6th. That's Fishing!!!! I talked to you for a few at the Collinsville fishing show..Tight Lines...
Way to make what you had work and bring home a check. I got a question though; do you think taking a swim jig out of your bag, pulling the skirt off and throwing a swimbait on would have achieved a similar enough profile to get bit? Oh, and where are you getting beef for $2.89 a pound? I need to shop there lol.
You always pay attention to the details. I may have exaggerated the discount beef prices 😁. A swim jig hook would be to big and stout for the size of swimbait and the rod I was using. Good thoughts tho. Thanks.
Gabe what ya doin on coangler rods,i end up carrying 5,and really dont wanna carry 4,and would like ta get by with 3,iv found that 5-6 i end up spending to much time digging thru rods, and losing confidence, changin baits etc.and it becomes more of a distraction than assistance.but i find it hard ta leave the ramp with not all my bases covered.what do u or anybody else weigh in do,i try ta find versitile baits that i can fish 4ftor40ft,sumpthn fast and sumpthn dragging, topwater crankbait.
I don’t know if he offered but I would have gave you my swimbait jig box and said take what you need?? I like to see the guy in the boat with me catch fish too!!
Couldn’t the boater offer you a better jig head with a different hook? Surprised he never offered. Lots of bites and looks like a good day on the water.
@TheTinHorseMonty not sure how it would effect it could play around with it and see if it does just something I thought of in the moment that could have helped
Good tournament Gabe. Any time you get a check it a good day. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for checking out the video. 6th is a good finish.
Never go to smallmouth county without the 2.8 kietechs!!!
Words of wisdom. I know now. Thanks
Good finish Bubba!
Thanks home slice. Should give you 10% of my check 😄
@TheTinHorseMonty nah you earned it! You need to work on that hookset though lol lol lol.
😂
You drew the right guy, Ray knows that lake
100%. He knows a lot of sneaky stuff.

Don’t know what pound test leader you are throwing, but I would tighten drag a little for the hook set
Thanks Scott

I typically take 7 rods but generally spend most of the day with 2-3 in my hand. I may pick up a rod and make a few casts based on the situation.
Still a great showing despite faulty jig. What is your preferred jig for the keitech?
Thanks. I've been using the Tater Shad Jig Head bit.ly/4bQmnkO
Also ordered some Big Bite Baits heads that have a sickle hook and a swivel line tie.
I don’t know if he offered but I would have gave you my swimbait jig box and said take what you need?? I like to see the guy in the boat with me catch fish too!!
Thanks Matt. I never asked but I'm sure Ray would have given me whatever he had in his boat.
Maybe if the boater had 2 hands on the net he nets that fish when it jumped, lucky it wasn't me he would of been told to make an effort
The fish was to far away from boat. I guess a 14' net may have worked.
@@TheTinHorseMonty need to use a salmon net lol its what we use in the great lakes lol

Guess he could have but I never asked. Sometimes I’m supposed to learn lessons the hard way. Thanks for watching.
That's what I was thinking!
I said the same thing. Why don’t the boater just give him a different jig head. They’re not competing against each other. 🤷♀️
Could have added a treble stinger to that bait
I think it would have hurt the action of that small swimbait but good idea.
@TheTinHorseMonty not sure how it would effect it could play around with it and see if it does just something I thought of in the moment that could have helped
@@projectfishinchannel33 Thanks. I appreciate it.
@TheTinHorseMonty hit me up if you would like to fish together at some point always looking for more fishing friends
@@projectfishinchannel33 👍👍
Not getting that fivth fish always hurts
Ya it would've went a long way.
U was just pulling the hookset. Not snapping it. When u catch a lot of little ones u kind of go to sleep on that.
Thanks for the insight. Probably right.
28:52 effin drops his rod. These ding dongs don't realize that they can damage the blank doing that. As a rod builder and repair I know.
It's easy to splinter a rod. I agree.
