My middle school-aged daughter heard the pop version of this song by a different artist on a playlist today and told me to search up the Declaration version. She said she’s listened to it for like 3-4 years now in History. It is goooood to have the kiddos 1) enjoy learning and 2) remember they were shown a video. Every history class I was in from 4th to 8th grade, we would listen to this at some point in the class as I was passing around my mom's copies of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill or Rights. Those were some of my favorite times in those classes.

I'm almost done with my senior year and I still remember this song from fourth grade when my teacher who loved history showed it to us
I showed this today at the end of my 8th grade history lesson on the Declaration of Independence. The kids loved it, and so did I. And, I have been singing the hook in my head all day. I am 48 years old, so I absolutely remember the original song being on the radio too.
I think everyone's History teacher has showed them this.

Shoutout to those who were already graduated when this came out and found it on their own musical tastes!!!
It hits hards when you realize how far we have come. But even to this day, the world isn't in peace. Just imagine it in the 18th century. This song just perfectly encapsulates the old days. Big gratitude to my social studies teacher. I remember those days in class where we would sing the lyrics and vibe, not neccesarily in a cheerful way. I don't know how to describe it, but hearing this song nowadays just feels nostalgic all over. Time really does fly, and you never really know which direction it will lead you.

Fr but my teacher is social studies
This song is just so GOOD. I can't really describe my reaction as patriotic, but it resonates with my soul and makes me want to tear down corrupt organizations and get JUSTICE. The main singer is so captivating in every way. His voice and facial expressions and the way he carries himself is just... ugh, it's everything.
