I missed these types of videos. Their was a point where I didn't know all of this and couldn't afford to find out by trial and error. Thank you. I still had trouble figuring out what fit and how to get it. I cheated and bout a Savage Arms 110 Ultralite Elite in 6.5CM. Proof Research cut rifle CF barrel, light weight atction, and HNT26 chassis. Congratulations on the dealer license. I'll be checking it out. Cheers.
Howas are great rifles. I've owned two: One a .30-06 built for Smith and Wesson (20" barrel) and the other a .308 Weatherby Vanguard (24"). Both were accurate. I've had the Vanguard for 19 years and put several thousand rounds through it - its right at 1 MOA with the right ammo. I've been pretty disappointed with the Remington 700s over the last 5-10 years. I own an extremely accurate Remington 700 Sendero, but its over 25 years old. My son loves his .308 Tikka, sub MOA. And, they make them in left-handed versions.
Sig Cross in 6.5 Creedmoor. For the money. Tics my boxes for Hunting, PRS, Veld Skiet and most of my trips to the range. The a Sabatti Tactical EVO US in 308 or 6.5 x 47 Lapua is something im considering for use in LRP/PRS. Comes wit 20 MOA Rail, high resistance polymer stock and a very good MatcTriger. All that is left for me to do is invest in good optics and load development. Then purchase enough components for the life of the barrel. Pew pew pew... PS: Love the chanel.
You don't need that expensive of a rifle for hunting you can get a rugar american 6.5cm and you are good to go shoot out to 810yards with little issue without turret adjustment scope and rifle combined $750
GREAT vid Piet! You've nailed it spot on. Is a matter of horses for courses! Just between us though, when it comes to value for money, is the SAVAGE that has also made a solid entry into SA to really compete with the Rem700, TIKKA (T3X) and HOWA1500 actions/footprints. And, chassis inlets for especially the SAVAGE 110 are getting more & more readily available in SA.
These are all awesome videos man. Appreciate it. How do you like the Bergara wilderness Sierras? I’m thinking about that to be my first hunting rifle. 7mm rem mag 24 inch barrel.
This is really nice high-level overview and you might have already done it already but super deep dive for somebody wanting to go into PRS would be awesome. Currently doing 3-gun and accruized AR matches out to 700 yards but never owned a bolt action and want to transition. also if you do one on one consultations for stuff like this, I’d be happy to compensate you for some time just to go over a build I want to do
Hi Piet. There has been a new collaboration between mdt and cz. Theyve come up with a cz 600 tactical. Please can you review the rifle and explain the differences between the two available chasis that it comes on.
I am looking to build a 6mm Creedmoor for stationary prairie dog hunting. Here is the list. Tikka T3X Super Varmint Action, Proof Research SS 26" or cut down to 24" Competition Barrel, MDT Gen 1 ACC Premiere Chassis . I will be shooting Hornady ELD-VT Ammo. My best experience ammo for PD hunting has been Hornady 6.5mm CM V-MAX better than same 6mm CM and 224 Valkyrie V-MAX. I think the problem with 6mm CM was the barrel and the 224 was same also. Your feedback is appreciated.
Pete first off thanks for all you bring to our communities! I guess the question I have is a Howa good enough to build a custom on ? Does it need to be blueprinted like a Remington to get anything quality out of it ?Thanks
For hunting Tikka or Sako you wont go wrong. Both these have stocks that do the job well, expecially the Sakos. The original well know calibres for availabilities. Alot of these new calibres are a fad. So the 243, 270, 25 06, 308, 30-06 7mm mag or 300 win mag are on the money. German optics always have the edge..
In the USA, Savage has been the king of inexpensive and accurate rifles for decades. However, there has been a significant uptick in their price point. Ruger American is another budget built rifle, but I can’t speak to its accuracy. However, I absolutely love my teflon-butter smooth Sako!!
Rugar american in 6.5 cm is extremely accurate with match grade ammo 810 yards is my furthest only because that's the furthest the range I shoot at goes to
Piet I just built a Howa 1500 in 6.5 prc. It was a barreled action with a number 6 contour barrel. I put on a apw 20 MOA rail from your shop along with an apw raptor break. I mounted it in a Boyd’s stock which needed some in letting for the heavy barrel. I topped it with a Vortex viper scope. I do have a question on the Howa actions. Are they all make noise when they are opened and closed?
@@IMPACTSHOOTINGI'm gonna be there and would LOVE to hang with you for the weekend! You're my inspiration for doing a match like this for the first time.

This is the kind of video lot of us really really appreciate, great video pete, lots of love from pakistan,
I literally picked up my 1st rifle this evening from the gunshop. Definitely won't be the only one.
Keep up the good work, Pieter.

Custom chamber/ barrelled tikka is the sweet spot imho.
I run a T3x with a Hardy barrel in my PRS rig. Great combo.

Love my Tikkas, just fantastic rifles.
I'm just trying to get one of those MDT Chassis 👊😎🇺🇲
We need an update when you are ready with the custom rifles. I love all your builds and I am ready to get my custom rifle :)

Could you maybe do a vid on what calibre you think would fit best in these applications?

Yea they do sound a bit tinny of that makes sense?
will u never try a sabatti rifle? they have a proprietary rifling called mrr which gives tons of advantage
I’m looking at a Howa 6.5 PRC pro varmint.
More Piet Kan mens n silencer of muzzle break op n full stock geweer sit
I’ll say it again. You’re wrong about the carbon fiber… 😂 It’s what makes the bullet go faster and it’s sexier.
Also, your B-roll is on point man!
Wish you would come to the Mammoth Sniper Challenge in Arkansas next March!
Man I would freaking love to do that!

Custom actions are mostly Rem 700's guys. His company will have to source most options from North America. USA USA USA. Let's GO.
No they arnt rem700’s, but they share them rem700 footprint. Big difference, but maybe you just phrased it wrong 👍

What’s the parent case for the 6.5ss
What about sauer s100?
Hi piet is it able to get a howa to namibia we are looking for a 6.5 prc in namibia but there are non in the country..

Tikka for the money. Everything else is fluff.
30-06 is out dated.
I didn't realize they don't work anymore, that's a bummer.
howa in a chasis will shoot just as good as anything else. If you still struggling just get a walther barrel and you good to go
Ughhh just give me one of your scopes 🥲
