Totally agree, reason why we need a vehicle for specific reason, like a car point a to point b. The truck don't want to rent a u-haul, buy a truck if moving things to storage or another apartment.
Hi Tim, You had a positive experience owning this truck. All the hard thinking and all the research you did prior to acquiring the Ford F150 payed off. Congratulations on planning so well. Best of luck with your newly acquired Tundra. Looking forward to your future videos. Happy new year!
If Toyota doesn’t have the next generation Tundra out by the end of the year, maybe you should consider a 2022 Chevrolet or GMC as they are doing a refresh on both the exterior and interior of those trucks.
You took a big first year write off to offset your tax bill last year. By law you have to pay the taxes now on the difference between what you sold it for and what your book depreciation shows. You better get with a CPA before you find yourself in trouble with the IRS. You can't keep doing this every year without paying the tax.
Your videos helped me make my decision to buy my Powerboost, I'm loving it so far, drove it from Washington to Arizona and average milage was 22 at 75mph most the way.
I was really hoping it would be better than that. I just drove 850 miles from Raleigh NC to Asheville NC and then over the mountains to East Tennesse, and then back home. Work trip. Averaged 22.3 MPG in my 2019 F250 6.7L Diesel. I want to get something smaller but if the F150s cant beat the massive diesel in MPGs it just doesn't make sense to me. I drove between 65-80 mph the whole way just depending on whatever the posted speed limit was usually about 7-8mph over posted limit.
@skinney skinch Unless you need a diesel to tow something it’s costing you more to drive a diesel than a gasser. You need to look at not just the mpg but what it costs per mile. Diesel fuel is at least .50 more a gallon, DEF fluid costs, changing 12-14 qts of oil and filter is around $150, and associated other filters on the vehicle ea year. A 3.5 f150 will cost about $40 for an oil change, tow 10-12,000 lbs and still get 24 mpg

I can say personally it’s easy to stomach when you were set on a SD but then went 150 lol. But that wears off and it is a pretty penny. Don’t regret it at all, but I am aware how first world ridiculous I am 😂
These truck prices are crazy. I make over 100k and cant imagine buying a vehicle for this much. For a cost of living comparison in my area, I bought a 3b2b 2000 square foot house on half an acre for 185k in 2020
I am so happy you are buying a Tundra! Now all the homers that keep telling you that you need to buy one can shut up. Of course when you sell it they will go apoplectic.
Regarding "First model year" I used to have that hesitancy of buying a first-model year. My 2011 F150 FX4 3.5L EcoBoost was first model year, and... I still own it. The engine is phenomenal. Trim/body is starting to show some nitpick problems, but otherwise hanging in there. Electronics are dated (not as much as my 2002 F150 ... that I still own), the nav can be slow, but the system functions (e.g. no reboots).
I have 2022 F150 Powerboost with only 3900 miles, within one month engine overheated, onboard power not available, jerky or shudder transmission, sitting at dealer for one month, no available parts and Ford customer service is no help, don't buy this!
I know this article is from a year ago, but I thought I would still respond. Everything I've read by major automotive reviewers and magazines like Motor Trend. The Ford Power Boast series seems to receive positive reviews where as reviewers of the Tundra mention. Toyota is the reason for destroying the Plastic tree forests needed to create the interiors in the new Tundra pick up (for those who take things literal. It's a joke). Comparing the Ford F series to the Toyota Tundra is a true night and day comparison. One being the hybrid fuel mileage and power. Knowing both trucks through business associates. I've discovered the Toyota looks aggressive from the outside and low rent on the inside with a lot of plastic while apparently thirsty with terrible fuel mileage comparing regular Ice engines. Your lucky you sold that truck when you did. The larger pre-owned auto sales industry companies you mentioned are currently having issues with dropping stock values from overpaying for vehicles. Now they are somewhat stuck with inventory they overpaid for. I know the tax position that continues to change regarding company vehicles. Wondering if you've looked and spoken to your accountant regarding short term leases. Looking forward to seeing some long-term reviews for the Bronco Raptor and when available. The Ranger Raptor. Maybe you'll be that person
Because you bought this truck and made videos on it is the reason I bought the same truck with a 2.7l ecoboost(couldn't find a powerboost). I love my truck and driving it never gets old. I'm excited to see what happens for you in the future whether that is a new tundra or something else.
@@kentonpennington401 the F150 differential gets rust real quick - we're talking 3-6 months and it starts looking like shit. At least that was the case for 2016 and 2018 models that I know of for fact (and I doubt much has changed since). I live in the northeast and that was during light winter months, but obviously it still shouldn't be happening that quickly.
@@bruceadams3687 his point went over my head- I'm not worried about the diff rusting thru I just don't want it to look like shit especially on a new vehicle
In my experience, if you want a tax deduction you buy at least a 3/4 ton truck and you can expense the whole thing in one year. Buy a 1/2 ton and you are required to depreciate it over multiple years. That’s what my CPA says anyway.
Should of tried Carmax if there was one close by. Just sold my FJ cruiser for 31k with 90,000 miles on the clock. Very clean truck I had. They offered the most out of the one you said.
I'VE OWNED FORD PRODUCTS ALL MY LIFE AND CURRENTLY HAVE 5 IN MY DRIVEWAY ALL WELL OVER 100,000 MI. HAVING SAID THAT I DO ALL OF MY OWN MAINTENANCE! I USE ONLY MOBIL 1 AND CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 5 TO 8 THOUSAND MILES! I ONLY DROP ALL THE OIL EVERY OTHER TIME! IN BETWEEN I JUST CHANGE THE FILTER AND THAT IS HOW YOU DO IT WITH SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL! BY THE WAY I HAVE NEVER HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ANY FORD VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED!
After looking at your video, as an owner of a 2021 Powerboost sport, it was a waste of my time. You pretty didn’t explain anything about the truck. I have 40,000 miles on mine, by far the greatest 1/2 ton truck on the road. You sold it what again. Lol.
@@Pickuptrucktalk wasn’t much of anything. Who buys a truck then sells it in less than a month ? Was it to see how much you lost buying it ? That is understandable. Trucks are to make money, not resell for a loss. But heck. Ok
I figured you would get a bit more out of that. Given XLT PB are rare enough and capacitors are still not to be had. Better get that order in for a Tundra iforce Max in ASAP if you want to get one. PS my ranger deal fell through, wanted them to find me a Tremor package but could just not make the numbers work. Way she goes just going to mile out the Ram, seems like a good one and not acting up 63k miles and counting (2018 sport).
I thought I would do better as well and was shocked with Carvana's 47k estimate. They didn't even ask about the features like the on board generator. I think this truck might be so new that the market hasn't figured out what to do with it.
Great video on so many levels! First, very cool business aspect. I am very intrigued... Second, I have had my eye on a 2021 F-150 with under 8,000 miles at a local Chevy dealership (ironically) but have had second thoughts due to the multiple recalls and all the reviews I have been reading on the 2021 F-150's. Your review sounds like it's a good truck. Not sure what I'm going to do to be honest. I LOVE the look of F-150's, but the reliability reviews and recalls have me hesitant. My current truck is a 2019 Tacoma. It's reliable, but I miss a full size. Thanks again for a quality and honest review! I appreciate it.
Ford has went downhill now for years. No more fords for me, even selling my new bronco due to their poor quality. F150 at dealership in Florida for 8 days without answers for electrical problems on a babied garaged truck, 52k garbage.
I got a quote for 65K for a 2022 Lariat. Too much for a 1/2 ton soda can. My 2018 XLT V8 wants to croak when pulling the boat. I'm going back to a Chevy 3/4 Ton.
Tim a great video glad you came out on top $$$$. Enjoy all your videos. The used/new resale values are great for the seller in today's market as long as you don't buy a new one at MSRP or higher!
I have a 2013 3.5L EcoBoost with max trailer tow package, 4 wheel drive with locking differential. All stock, no changes. Mileage 85,000 miles. Other than oil changes, brakes, battery, and buttons on the steering wheel, no major issues. It has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. I'm 65 yrs old, and I can't count the number of cars and trucks I've had and tortured. Gas mileage on highway 17 mpg. I have gotten 26 mpg, but you need to keep the RPMs less than about 1700, or about 55 mph, and relatively flat ground, (small inlines ok), which is torture when cars are flying past you doing 75 mph..
I have the exact same truck. 2013 F150 3.5 Ecoboost with 105,000 miles. I have the crew cab with the longer bed (6.5’?). I drive it hard like 75-80 most the time so my mileage sucks at 14 mpg. But like you this truck has been outstanding. I’ve changed two of the coils at 85,000 and gone through three full sets of tires. I love my truck and have no interest in a newer model. Would I like one? Sure. But I’ve had no truck payment for nearly three years and you can’t beat owning your truck.
Great to hear you are doing well and make a good living with the videos and gained on the truck. But what I wanted to hear is what you liked and disliked. Why you would buy it again or why not. Leave alone all of your money savings.
Tim made 36 videos with this truck in the time he owned it. You can find them on this playlist, which hopefully answers your question : ua-cam.com/play/PL8PJw4jHcHhcuxMDyxh5negt5NgT31BCV.html
Thanks for the video! Always nice to hear all the reasons for buying/selling decisions. I also really appreciated all the videos you made on this truck. Was extremely informative.
The only thing is you have to recapture the tax benefit in the year you sell, so that kind of defeats the gain there. If you don't buy a new one buy end of year it would really suck. I'm struggling with this myself.
I have had the exact same problem with my 2019 Tundra. I have been offered $4500 more than I paid for it 3 years ago. I would have done it had I been able to replace it.
@@justinl8455 LOL, early reviews on 2022 Tundra are very good. I’ve have a 2012 Tundra 4.6L and biggest problem has been a dead battery and some rust on undercarriage, which I treat yearly. Alright so i just finished watching both of your videos and they are very good with covering how the performance has been and from my understanding the powerboost has been a solid truck aside for its controll arms… im looking to buy my first truck and i was deciding with the 4; as follow and my reasoning 1) f150 platinum or f250 tremor powerstroke. -did not go with this due to way to much maintenance. (And dont need to tow anything) 2) rivian - like you mentioned cool concept but the charge times out of the world… 3) trd pro hybrid thundra - way to heavy on gas more performance oriented rather then long distance driver and dealer wanted 110k cad. (Lol) 4) powerboost hybrid Great on gas from your vids its super amazing your the only UA-camr thats made the super long term comparisons vid. -(abit about me) im not looking for toweing pure luxury for long distance hence why the diesel didnt make sense to me however love diesels for economy (evil epa aside) Max ill put in my bed is 1 mountain bike in summer or 2 set of skis in winter.. Looking to get the platinum or lariat powerboost whats your opinion
@@sorrybadsignal The best thing to do is to use Ford.com and compare the trims. This way you can see the differences and decide for yourself if it is absolutely critical.
Glad you liked the truck, and that you will buy another Ford in the future. It's a coincidence, but this week I was just at that Ford dealer on your invoice when I went to Michigan on business. Weird feeling when that image popped up on your video. lol Not sure I agree with your business cost analysis; if you are in a personal income tax bracket around 25% let's say, then your tax benefit was only 25% of the $8,500 difference between your purchase and sale of the Ford, so about $2100. (that other $2500 you walked away with on the trade adds to the depreciation cost basis of the new Toyota truck/loan you're getting into, it does not reduce the basis for the Ford you just sold; you're double dipping if you think that it does; you bought the Ford for $62K, you sold it for $53.5K not $56K, that's an $8.5K difference not $6K; you could have INCREASED your down payment with that cash on the new Toyota loan transaction but didn't, and you still have to add the $2500 in your pocket to the Toyota loan for your new depreciation cost basis; I'm thinking you bought the Toyota for $51K, but you will be depreciating it from $53.5K now, reducing your future income by the extra $2500 as it's written off, since you would not have gotten that cash without the trade DOWN to another vehicle; it's easier to see this when it's a trade UP to another vehicle). Alternatively, talk with your accountant, you may be required to claim the $2500 as a short-term capital gain, and pay income taxes on it in 2021 if you don't add it to your depreciation schedule. So on the $8500 of the Ford value lost you got about $2,100 tax benefit loosely speaking -- excluding the small effect of whatever your State's income tax rate is. No matter how you figure it, I think you lost around $6400 ($8,500 - 2,100) for the 8 months on the Ford when you lay it all out (not the $5000 you said in the video) (plus your interest payments on the loan have to be added to it, don't forget you also paid that out, which interest I think is generally higher in the early months of a loan and gets down to almost zero at the end of the loan --- depending on the bank, vehicle loans are not like a mortgage loan interest schedule). You were paying a LOT of interest up-front on your loan; I think you should have leased, in your situation, because you knew you were not going to hold onto this vehicle. You had a $900/mo payment on the purchase of the Ford, your lease payment would have been less than that and all of it is write-off, no add back like you must do with depreciation write-offs when you sell early. Much cleaner. If you are incorporated, the Federal tax rate is 21% plus whatever your State corporate tax rate is. I'm guessing here, but I don't think your tax write-off on a purchase would be much different between incorporated or personal income tax rates, so your cash loss would also be about the same. I would NEVER lease myself, I hold my vehicles a long time until they get over 200K miles usually. However your situation, which requires frequent turnover of equipment, is precisely what leasing is there for. Payments are less, and it's all write-off.
Thanks for the comment. A few notes: the tax benefit I was referring to is from the Schedule C and it really did save me the amount I stated. On leasing, I couldn't lease this truck, even though I wanted to, due to timing of purchase. Basically, if I leased, I would have written off nothing due to buying it in December. I couldn't buy the truck sooner due to it not being available.
@@Pickuptrucktalk lol, you had it 8 months, not just December. I'm a career finance guy, not specifically tax but I have experience in real estate and equipment write-offs in my own investments; schedule C is where you write off leases too! Line 20, instead of line 13 Depreciation. You would have had one lease payment in December, 7 payments in 2021. And no big addback in 2021 like you will be doing now, for taking too large of a depreciation deduction in 2020. If you are in a higher tax bracket in 2021 than you were in 2020, you shot yourself in the foot taking that big 2020 deduction. I'll leave you one final tip; never make tax decisions that just help you short term; look at long term..... at the end of the decade or however big a span you choose, your net income after tax will always be better long term if you make write-off decisions long term. The only reason to very from that is if in the future you are straddling age-65 tax deduction benefit (if they still have it). Delaying income legally until after age 65 is to everybody's benefit.
I bought a 2021 F150 PowerBoost Limited in February off the lot when there was only on in the state instead of waiting six months or more and had it undercoated. When I did my first oil change the dealer offered me to tade it. Nope. Love it!
@@pimpovic2 You need to have a trade in with a lot of equity or cash to get the payment down. If you need to take out a loan you probably shouldn’t be buying the vehicle. Car and College debt is stupid. You only go into debt to buy houses.
Thx for the vids. Quite helpful in my decision making. My order was placed last week. Should have my PB by November. Look forward to the next ride reviews.
In regards to taxes saved (not just last year but overall) : is this your assessment or your tax advisor? recapture? You used Sec 179 accelerated 1st year deprecation so you may not have the savings you think but delayed the payment (?). I am a business owner for 35+ years and have a fair understanding of tax issues. Did your tax advisor say anything about needing to buy another truck before the end of the year and do an adjustment to basis ?? This is also a very unusual market for truck values as well. In Feb I sold my 5 year old F150 for $2k less than I paid for it. If I hadn't dropped my crystal ball and clouded it all up I would have waited a few more months. But when I ordered my new one it was scheduled to arrive in 6 weeks. It just arrived, 7 months later. When I ordered it there was no announcements about chip shortages. At least I didn't have to pay sticker or sticker plus like a lot are doing now. So overall I feel okay.
Just got one of these ,owned it for about a month, mines a 2021 xlt with cloth seats, l have 4k on it and love the truck but hate the drivers seat it seems to narrow at the back and rides my hips on both sides, making it miserable to drive any distance, it's at the dealership seeing if there's any fix. Hopefully they can help the situation l really don't want to dump the truck because of this
My CPA said only buy business assets that you need. Never buy anything for the tax savings alone. We're in an odd time where used vehicle prices are skyrocketing. Otherwise you would have taken a big hit.
I’m really close to pulling the trigger on a new PB 7.2KW, how has the transmission been?! The one I drove was kind of iffy, any positive and or negative feedback would be appreciated!
I only had a weird shift once or twice in all the miles I drove. Just a bit of a hesitation but always when I decided to punch it after hesitating myself going up a grade.
The relationship between the 10 speed and the regenerative braking makes for a strange feeling when coming to a stop, it takes some getting used to. Add into that the tendency to push through initial brake pressure when the electric only mode is engaged both on and off idle, there is a learning curve. Coming out of my '13 F150, I have to brake harder in this one to keep it from pushing forward at idle, and also to come to complete a stop. It's enough of an issue that i notice it and I have to be aware of extra brake pressure while standing in gear. There is also perceptible downward gear shift while slowing down. Between the regenerative braking and the downshifting, it isn't as smooth or nimble feeling as my '13. Overall, it's a smoother, quieter, more comfortable truck which has it's nits. I do wonder how a '21 non Powerboost drives on occasion and whether the 10 speed has the same feeling on downshifts, or if it's pronounced because of the braking on the PB.
Great video and series of videos on that truck. Thanks for all the reviews/information. Good luck with the new vehicle and I will definitely be watching for the new Tundra
If you paid 57 for the truck and the dealer is giving you $53,500 what is he selling it for? If he sells it for 57 again that would be a profit of $3,500 . Surely he has to get the vehicle ready to sell plus his own taxes. I've always heard a new vehicle depreciates quickly. I'll say you are getting a good deal.
Used cars are way up right now and there is next to no new inventory hardly any used inventory either. The dealer that is buying it won't have any problem turning a profit. 2-3 year old cars with 20-30k miles on them are selling for new car prices now this dealer isn't going to have any problem making at least $5k on this truck and the dealer might have already had it sold why he made the higher offer then the other dealers.
Thanks for all the content on the f150. It really helped me narrow down what my next truck will be. Just waiting to see what the new ranger will have before I make my final decision ( never really final I guess until I test drive the contenders and make the purchase). Anyways news on the ranger has been scarce. What have you heard on the latest rumours and timeline for 2022 ranger unveiling?
It would be cool to see u do the math between cost of hybrid vs gas engine. How long would you need to drive that truck with its 2 to 3 mpg better to make up the cost!
You won’t make up the difference between increased cost, interest, insurance and battery life. By the time you recoup the money the battery would need to be changed. PROS: Better for the environment air/quality. CONS: You foot out money with the potential of more things that can break. Overall, collectively it’s better for the environment
In Jan, I bought a 2020 F150 Reg Cab XL 4x4 for $27,500. Sold it in April to Carvana for $33,160. Bought a great condition 2008 F150 Reg Cab with 79k miles. 2020 was much better, but now no payment/loan.
Wait and get the lightning. Tundra 😳🤮 Hope they look better than they have been. The 2022 supposed to have rear coil springs like Dodge and the new Raptor but may hurt tow numbers. 👍
@@Pickuptrucktalk I appreciate the honesty in your content because every time I see a new McLaren unveil thumbnail I just 🤦🏼♂️👏👏👏. I don’t hate on it, but I do see through to the business side behind the content pretending it’s not a business lol.
This was awesome! Thanks for the conclusion. I know you said you'd buy this pickup again but did you have any remorse turning it in? Also, since you're talking about business and taxes, could you do a video explaining how the tax credit works on pickups weighing over 6,000 pounds? I never could figure that one out.
Not remorse so much. I mean it is just business so that flavors it a little. I'll miss having it around though since it was a good truck. Honestly, I'm not a CPA, so I'll have to skip the tax video.
I bought a 2021 platinum in January before the chip bull started. Book value is more than sticker last time I looked. Been tempted to try to sell mine for a nice profit. But can’t buy another one, even if found something acceptable I would pay my profits on crazy prices for new one. So would be a waste of time. This bubble will bust soon. And no one can convince me that it has taken this long to get the chips. It’s all a scam like everything else is in this pathetic world now.
Chip manufacturing is one of the most complicated processes on earth. It takes forever to grow good wafers and the factories cost billions of dollars. This will last 2 more years to work out.

Unless you need a diesel to tow something it’s costing you more to drive a diesel than a gasser.

$900 truck payment!! Holy sh^t my man.
For a cost of living comparison in my area, I bought a 3b2b 2000 square foot house on half an acre for 185k in 2020
I ordered a 2022 f150 302a antimatter blue with chrome and moonroof. Exactly the same as yours. Can’t wait to get it.
Thanks for being so transparent! Great video
That fuel economy is insane!
Dang everybody drives trucks in your neighborhood 5:25🤣 I counted 6 with a possible 7
I am so happy you are buying a Tundra! Now all the homers that keep telling you that you need to buy one can shut up.
Of course when you sell it they will go apoplectic.
Oh when I sell and I will sell it, I expect a lot of thumbs down. LOL.
Regarding "First model year"
I used to have that hesitancy of buying a first-model year.
Frankly, there is no such thing as all new or first model year. Parts are carried over year after year.
Kirk, how many miles on your 2011? I have a 2013 with zero issues at 120k miles but am thinking about a new F150 with updated technology...maybe!
@@danielcross6815
I’ve 109k. I was leaning toward this hybrid until the Lightning was announced. Now I’m waiting on the electric.
I have 2022 F150 Powerboost with only 3900 miles, within one month engine overheated, onboard power not available, jerky or shudder transmission, sitting at dealer for one month, no available parts and Ford customer service is no help, don't buy this!
Wow that's awful.
The 2.7 is a nice engine. I went looking for used 3.5's, drove a 2.7 and didn't even bother with the 3.5. I'm not a huge tower, so it's perfect.
I painted my differential with por-15 day1 no rust issues 3 years later
I put Amsoil MPHD on moving parts and front facing items, Fluid Film everywhere else underneath.
Have you or anyone ever heard or seen a differential rust out before the frame?
@@kentonpennington401 the F150 differential gets rust real quick - we're talking 3-6 months and it starts looking like shit. At least that was the case for 2016 and 2018 models that I know of for fact (and I doubt much has changed since). I live in the northeast and that was during light winter months, but obviously it still shouldn't be happening that quickly.
Exactly! Very excellent point. I have a 89 f250 , a lil surface rust hasn't hurt it so far.
@@bruceadams3687 his point went over my head- I'm not worried about the diff rusting thru I just don't want it to look like shit especially on a new vehicle
I like your idea of getting a 2022 Tundra. Hopefully you can get your hands on a hybrid so you can do a direct comparison to the F150.
In my experience, if you want a tax deduction you buy at least a 3/4 ton truck and you can expense the whole thing in one year. Buy a 1/2 ton and you are required to depreciate it over multiple years. That’s what my CPA says anyway.
Nope. GVWR just needs to be over 6,000 lbs. Section 179
Should of tried Carmax if there was one close by. Just sold my FJ cruiser for 31k with 90,000 miles on the clock. Very clean truck I had. They offered the most out of the one you said.

After looking at your video, as an owner of a 2021 Powerboost sport, it was a waste of my time. You pretty didn’t explain anything about the truck. I have 40,000 miles on mine, by far the greatest 1/2 ton truck on the road. You sold it what again. Lol.
This video wasn't a review of the truck FYI. I did about 20 other videos showing off all the features.
@@Pickuptrucktalk wasn’t much of anything. Who buys a truck then sells it in less than a month ? Was it to see how much you lost buying it ? That is understandable. Trucks are to make money, not resell for a loss. But heck. Ok
@@DannyG-w2z Wait, what? I didn’t sell it after a month. I did nearly 30 videos on the truck. You shouldn’t base your conclusions on one video.
Take it down to Texas and get a lot more for it. Heck just advertise it there and someone would come up and get it.
@@Pickuptrucktalk I figured they would give you sticker or close to it. Dealer offered me 37500 CAD for mine with 63k miles.
Honestly, if I were in the area, I would've given you more than the dealer. The Powerboost is pretty hard to find.
You might in your market, but you have to understand the price differences from one area of country to the next.
These F150s are built as cars now, not trucks. The people that love them have a 6 foot paved driveway and you'll never see dirt on them.
It's done you well. During the next 3 months you should put in your order for a new Bronco. It *might* be ready when you get rid of the Tundra!
I've thought about it to be honest.
He'll never go back once he owns a Toyota
Yeah Toyota so you can drink fuel with less power, no onboard gen , less payload , less towable. Yep that makes sense.
@jeff reese
He will leave quickly if he needs a truck
Tim a great video glad you came out on top $$$$. Enjoy all your videos. The used/new resale values are great for the seller in today's market as long as you don't buy a new one at MSRP or higher!
Leather seats are over rated.. cloth is more breathable. I like those cloth seats!
Unless you have kids in sports. Cloth seats soak up the stink.
What’s the longest time you have ever had a truck before you sold?
I don't know. I don't really keep track. It makes WAY more sense for me to buy and sell than to keep.
Since I was only here for the f150 content I'm not sure what to do. Good luck with the Toyota, but I'm out.
Sorry to see you go!
Bye
Wow Brian, you’re a douch
Thanks for the video! Always nice to hear all the reasons for buying/selling decisions. I also really appreciated all the videos you made on this truck. Was extremely informative.
The only thing is you have to recapture the tax benefit in the year you sell, so that kind of defeats the gain there.
If you don't buy a new one buy end of year it would really suck. I'm struggling with this myself.
Easy for me. I just buy a new truck every year.
I got offered $53,000 for my 2019 GMC 4x4 with the 6.2 that had 11,500 miles and turned it down, lol. Couldn't replace it for that so why bother.
I have had the exact same problem with my 2019 Tundra. I have been offered $4500 more than I paid for it 3 years ago. I would have done it had I been able to replace it.
Great video Tim 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Don’t change, like these other fluff UA-camrs!

@@justinl8455 LOL, early reviews on 2022 Tundra are very good. I’ve have a 2012 Tundra 4.6L and biggest problem has been a dead battery and some rust on undercarriage, which I treat yearly. Alright so i just finished watching both of your videos and they are very good with covering how the performance has been and from my understanding the powerboost has been a solid truck aside for its controll arms… im looking to buy my first truck and i was deciding with the 4; as follow and my reasoning
1) f150 platinum or f250 tremor powerstroke.
-did not go with this due to way to much maintenance. (And dont need to tow anything)
2) rivian - like you mentioned cool concept but the charge times out of the world…
3) trd pro hybrid thundra
- way to heavy on gas more performance oriented rather then long distance driver and dealer wanted 110k cad. (Lol)
4) powerboost hybrid
Great on gas from your vids its super amazing your the only UA-camr thats made the super long term comparisons vid.

Non sport model XLT trucks have column shifter.
Big touch screen is nice, but the first thing I noticed is the reflection and glare from it. Did that get annoying from a driver's perspective?
No because I set it to the dark theme all the time. The white screen background for daytime was really annoying.
Glad you liked the truck, and that you will buy another Ford in the future.
It's a coincidence, but this week I was just at that Ford dealer on your invoice when I went to Michigan on business. Weird feeling when that image popped up on your video. lol
Not sure I agree with your business cost analysis;
if you are in a personal income tax bracket around 25% let's say, then your tax benefit was only 25% of the $8,500 difference between your purchase and sale of the Ford, so about $2100.
@@Pickuptrucktalk
lol, you had it 8 months, not just December.
No new vehicle purchase can be considered an investment.
Why not?
I have a question fr you. Will the truck automatically start up once the battery power is depleted?
Yes. Once the hybrid battery has been depleted, it automatically starts up.
@@Pickuptrucktalk THanks for replying back to me, Sir.

@@pimpovic2 You need to have a trade in with a lot of equity or cash to get the payment down. If you need to take out a loan you probably shouldn’t be buying the vehicle. Car and College debt is stupid. You only go into debt to buy houses.

I find it interesting that people are so divided on the 3.5 ecoboost and the 5.0 v8 flex fuel. No one really appreciates both.

The plan is to buy a new truck each year. Sometime the taxes will catch up with me.
This guy is no business man, no less a truck guy.
I wouldn't have bought it and paid what they get for these smart phones on wheels. Americans are too infatuated with high tech electronics and toys.
My CPA said only buy business assets that you need. Never buy anything for the tax savings alone. We're in an odd time where used vehicle prices are skyrocketing. Otherwise you would have taken a big hit.
Well this was a great purchase for the business. I’m sure your CPA and I would have a unique conversation.
The Maverick should be on your short list, if it's a business decision about the latest and greatest.
Congratulations on how things are working for you. Looking forward to seeing your reviews and videos of your next truck.
Love cloth seats
Most wont get the tax write off, so it is not a good idea for the typical person to buy a truck each year. Just the opposite, one might pay sales tax.

I was hoping you’d get the new Tundra Hybrid. Glad to hear that’s what you’re thinking. Hopefully it all works out
If you paid 57 for the truck and the dealer is giving you $53,500 what is he selling it for? If he sells it for 57 again that would be a profit of $3,500 . Surely he has to get the vehicle ready to sell plus his own taxes. I've always heard a new vehicle depreciates quickly. I'll say you are getting a good deal.
If they're offering 53,500, they're selling it for at least 60k. Easy. Probably more like 65k.
I wish I knew you were selling. I would have beat that dealers offer!

Anyways news on the ranger has been scarce. What have you heard on the latest rumours and timeline for 2022 ranger unveiling?
I heard it's a 2023 to be unveiled late this year or early next year
Ranger news is pretty scarce. I'd go with next year for the reveal and late to early the following year for hitting dealer lots.
I am glad it worked out for you Tim for a business decision. I can’t wait for you to evaluate the new tundra.
Can you say something about seat comfort please?
Never trust the dealer to get your loan paid off that fast!
It would be cool to see u do the math between cost of hybrid vs gas engine. How long would you need to drive that truck with its 2 to 3 mpg better to make up the cost!
The diesel half-tons are more efficient mileage wise, cause to obtain the top mileage you need to run premium fuel.
You won’t make up the difference between increased cost, interest, insurance and battery life. By the time you recoup the money the battery would need to be changed.
PROS: Better for the environment air/quality.
CONS: You foot out money with the potential of more things that can break.
Overall, collectively it’s better for the environment

@@Pickuptrucktalk I appreciate the honesty in your content because every time I see a new McLaren unveil thumbnail I just 🤦🏼♂️👏👏👏. I don’t hate on it, but I do see through to the business side behind the content pretending it’s not a business lol.
I sold a 2018 Colorado for $2k more than I paid for it so you should do well.
I'm getting 21 in my 2018 5.0 how many miles are on that powerboost? Is it broken in yet?
Break in is like 500 miles these days, so yup.
It is hard to not take the money and run!
I see the recall about the windshield.. what up with that
Easy fix. Just a small issue.
@@Pickuptrucktalk Fair enough. 🙂
Open an LLC and buy the vehicle over 6k Lbs. But you must have a high tax to pay to take advantage of the write off. BTW this year it is 80% write off
I bought a 2021 platinum in January before the chip bull started.
Your math is awesome lol
Tim, there is a certain amount of provenance attached to the truck. A subscriber would have paid a premium for it. I know I would have.
Yeah, maybe and I was thinking about that. Maybe next time.
Good video! Bought my first truck last November before the truck craziness. I almost bought a F150 and bought the 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road double cab.
Hope you enjoy
So glad to hear your trying the Tundra, there is nothing about a GM, I mean gm that would interest me into watching your videos.. At least on the gm product…..THANKS
