i've had my Rapide S since January 2020, entering its 5th year of service for me this year. It has been extremely reliable except for the known issue of the primary cat's ceramic lining coming off and being ingested into the engine via the exhaust valves, developing a serious misfire. Once I realised the issue and got it sorted, the car has been perfect. Eveeryone who has one say they're very reliable. Love it to bits.
Great review! I rented a 2011 Rapide on a family trip to Houston, Texas and felt very much like you said in your review. The family fit but the car didn’t feel as sporty as my existing sport sedan. So I looked for a 2015 Rapide S 8spd and was able to get one with low miles over the summer. The 8spd S trim (2015-2017) version is far superior sports car experience. Everything is better and you feel it. Steering, brakes, throttle, transmission, suspension, power are much better, although it still feels like a bigger car. I usually drive it in manual mode with windows somewhat lowered, even in the winter. I run it to the redline every time I accelerate and the sound makes it all worthwhile. Keeping it at gear 3 or 4 max yields the best sound experience even while cruising. It’s a special car that puts a smile on my face every time I look at it and particularly when I drive it.
I've watched lots of videos on Aston Martins, but I must say yours was by far the best. I love your straight forward review that tells it as it is. Thank you for a nice informative video. My rapide arrives tomorrow. Hope I have a good experience with mine. All the best. Paul
It’s such a pretty car! Unfortunately I’m a little too tall to use something like this as a daily. But by putting this thing on the road you’re doing the HK car scene a huge favour. Enjoy and stay safe!
Very very good and informative video! Thanks a bunch from the other side of the world (Denmark). I'm thinking of replacing my BMW 650i Gran Coupe with a Rapide - so all info like yours is appreciated!
Thanks, glad you found it helpful! One thing I forgot to mention was the boot space is pretty good since it is a hatchback, so that's another +. Good luck with your hunt!
I'm new to your channel and enjoying it so far. Liked you review of the Rapide, always wanted to know more about that beautiful, rare, Aston. I know there are fabulous car collections in HK and lots of avid enthusiasts but I'm curious about where you drive them?
Thanks! We have some mountain roads and reasonably long highway travels (e.g. to the airport), but generally overpopulation and high police enforcement means you can't really speed too recklessly without consequences.
Used to own a white Rapide, i have to let it go becoz I need to use the money else where. Really hope that I can get one back. There won’t be any v12 4 seaters as beautiful as the Rapide.
Very nice honest review. I had a DB9 for 6 years and just wanted space in back to easily put things. Occasionally with passengers for short trip is ok. The Rapide fits the bill just fine
Wish I could have seen your video before getting my MY2012 Rapide last June. That would have made my decision easier! My experience totally synched with yours. You can keep the beauty for another 20 years - my adult son hasn't complained at all being the rear passenger. Wait till it is our turn to sit at the rear ;) See you around in HK!

Thanks for the info. I hope I will get the opportunity to try the S version here one day and compare!

This is a pretty niche family car and I am glad it suits you well! Thanks for creating the video.
Thanks for your kind words!

In the driver/passenger seat it is probably okay, but the rear seats will be rubbish!
What is the fuel burn per gallon and how is it holding up?
Great video thank you
Thanks for your support! I am afraid I have sold the car since the video!

Agree!
Such a fabulous looking GT by Aston Martin, with a sound track to match.
Agree!
Great video, can’t wait to get a ride in it👍🏼👍🏼
You ride in the rich man's Volvo la!
I am so happy to see a British car making Americans family to smile by the sound of the car
Thanks but I am not American, I am Chinese 😆 Still smile from the car though!
Nice review Justin. Is your new book in the shops yet?
What a fantastic review 👍
Thank you!
Great real world review!
Missing Shek O and cool HK weather.
Thanks mate - hope all is well. Come visit again soon!
Love your owner review! You should change cars more often and review them for us! 😂
haha thanks, I change too much already!
A good honest review…may thanx to you.
Thank you!

Thanks Harold - if i remember right yours is the white one right?
@instacarhk5963 Yes. I thought your car looks familiar and only realize that we are in the same chat group after sending my message 😅
Great video, very nice looking car. Overall, I think M5 would be a better balance for the whole family
You are right! I can only get it because my son is still small!
Beautiful car will never be repeated in this electric car days!
Too true!
Ive never met anyone in my life who carries adults in the back seat of their car. Beautiful 4 door..the most! Back is for 2 kids.
What does Mr. InstacarHK do for a living?
Just bought a similar Rapide here in HK. Let’s take a ride
Yes I have seen yours as I am also in the AME WhatsApp group, congrats! I do intend to join one of the drives one day but had clashes last few times.
Rear made for children not for show off to adults you want that buy a rolls.
beautiful car. wish i could afford it.
keep it ;-)
AM❤
I think I ought to stop looking at Aston Martin's and just get a Lexus LC500. If only Toyota would buy Aston eh?
:)
