      look at merab and hernandez in the recent ufc. taunting. flipping people off mid exchange and shit. taking a punch and sticking your tongue out. this is how high level guys fight. they showboat to invite agressions and use that to win.

    Augustus was outright robbed on sooo many occasions. The refs punished him as well. If he's finishing journeymen in devastating fashion, the next step is contenders. I see nothing wrong with it.

    Definitely reminds me of Emanuel Augustus. Obviously, Augustus fought much better guys so Whittaker has to step up in competition level before this style can be proven effective for him at elite level, but there's no denying it's entertaining.

      ​@@demiurgeobzen327no, I did not state that. I was inferring that his style might work against minnows, but may not be effective when he fights top tier opposition. I am not advocating for him to immediately fight ranked guys. He's better off slowly improving the calibre of his opponents.

      Emmanuel I believe Floyd jr said, was his toughest opponent throughout his career because of that style. Totally agree though. Ben has to step up the competition to see if this style works today with the amount of talent that’s beginning to pour out into the boxing scene these days. Lamont Roach Jr, Keyshawn Davis, and there’s another kid who Keyshawn was going at it with the other day the kid is from Detroit or somewhere and holds the WBA belt. Also there’s the likes of Shakur Stevenson and also Bruce Carrington. Boxing outside the heavyweight division is beginning to light up

      Love him or hate him, what other fighter with only six fights are you commenting on?
      I happened to be in Vegas when Floyd Mayweather fought Connor and a HUGE percentage of the people in Vegas were wearing Irish flags, had their face painted, were wearing McGregor gear, and were screaming: "F**k the Mayweathers."
      And because so many people were rooting for him to lose, Floyd made $280 Million Dollars 😆
      That's how entertainment works. As long as you're paying attention, they make more money

    Regardless of how his career goes, in his last fight against Graidia he pulled off one of Emanuel Augustus' dances near flawlessly. Being a massive fan of Augustus, it really made me respect Whittakers style. No one has done it like Augustus since so I will be keeping up on Whittakers fights.

      Thing is Augustus fought while doing his thing. THAT WAS HIS STYLE. He only tampered it down because judges were vindictive and wasn’t giving him pts.

    People are just pissed because this shines a light on how mismatched boxing matches are. These matches generally only exist to pad and inflate the 'star' boxer's record. Match boxers up against guys of similar skill level from the start of their career, and you won't see this shit happening. At least not without catastrophic consequences.

      @@guntguardian3771 He shouldn't be fighting journeymen in the first place, that's the point. His showboating and blatant disregard of his opponents skills highlights that fact. Match boxers up against similar opponents who are at a similar stage in their career. Boxing is the only sport in the wolrd where you aren't allowed to lose even once, which leads to boxers cherrypicking easy opponents, resulting in completely lopsided uneven and unexciting matches.

      To be honest.. you're at your best when you're having fun. I think he's good.. some of his antics are illegal like back fists and hammer fist (soft or not) to the top of the head or anywhere for that matter aren't legal in boxing.     He's playing a perfect game at the moment. He knows he is fighting sub-par opposition, but it's getting him the headlines and people want to see him fight. As you say Propa, whether they want to see him spark out on the canvas or arm in the air, it's all eyes on the fight. Exactly what promoters will pay for. He seems like a sensible guy and when he's up for a title fight, I'm sure he will calm it down ... right up to the point someone hits the deck!

      To be fair, even if it backfires, it can be lucrative if it makes him a draw.

    The fight is not only physical is also psychological. Mr. Whittaker just does not leave nothing by chance, the guy is just that damn good. I mean, his psyops is so freaking good that even the fans get frustrated, that's it.

    people might find it disrespectful but at the end of the day both fighters are earning their bread doing what they love because they're in the entertainment business and Whitaker really is entertaining to watch. 2 fighters in a ring might not share the same fanbase but they sure as hell share the same audience.

    He boxes to entertain his audience. Though his style is very distractive to his opponents but I hope it does not break any rule of boxing. With all these antics, he punches powerfuly and accurately. Wonderful boxer indeed.

      Exactly this. If the results are solid it's fine. Boxing is full of anonymous stars making little money. I'm fine with the antics as silly or disrespectful as it can seem. He's making a name for himself. I'd rather him do this than trash talk or histrionics outside the ring.

    Fantastic video, brilliantly narrated (thank you) - Its clear this lad is exceptionally talented....can understand some of the dislike as a lot of what he does is piss taking but by feck you'd want to smash him in the ring and all that would do is play into his hands and he'd knockout you out. Watched his last fight and he didn't seem to have the power which the shots look like they have so it'll be interesting how he progresses. But people want to be entertained and he's an entertainer so lets embrace his talent and see how he gets on against those at the top level

    I love these kinds of fighters, especially when an opponent finally beats them down. These types of fighters have very fragile egos, once they lose, mentally it all goes downhill quickly for them. Hamed and Broner are two very good examples.

    bro why isn't he the greatest thing in boxing rn tf. I'm not a boxing fan but I love mma, muay thai, and kickboxing, and seeing him be able to fight like that is amazing. He's getting so deep in his opponents heads and making them look like they're bad at their job, he's just chilling dancing and when he decides he's done he knocks the guy out. So entertaining

    I like him, he’s fun. But he has to be able to carry it on to some degree as he moves up the skill levels. Otherwise it looks like he only does it against seriously inferior opponents

      well, he's not gonna be EXACTLY the same, is he. Coz you can't take liberties like that against the best. But that's why propa said same "energy" rather than like same tactics. He'll still be cocky, confident, showboating and i reckon probably even a lot of the same body movements in the ring, free-flowing style.
      But if people are saying he must do the exact same piss taking, looking away and shit, that's just not realistic...
