I've known this song since I was a teenager, and from nearly the first time I heard it, I felt it conveyed something profound. God's voice is so dear, and when He calls our names with such tenderness, there's nothing so sweet as running to Him from wherever our minds or lives have drifted. We chase Him, not because He's running away (He's not) but because He continues to move forward, calling us after Him, calling us to take the narrow road, taking our hands and running with us. What a glorious thing...to run with Jesus!
