Oh my .. This was the most moving video I've watched for a very, very long time. By the end I was in tears... Very good job in combining the movie scenes with this beautiful song by Jim Steinman!
Just shows what a collaboration between Jim and Andrew could produce. Andrew wanted Jim to write lyrics for one of his musicals after hearing the Bat out of He'll album, he spent ages trying to get him to do Phantom of the Opera, but prior obligations and commitments prevented Jim doing it. They finally managed to get together on whistle down the wind. Most of the songs for Phantom are good but imagine if Jim had written the lyrics. RIP Jim Steinman
Meatloaf has silently carved out a 40 year long career that unfolded in three stages. However, between those same three stages, he had some underrated gems, like this one. It's a shame that he has to rely more on his tours nowadays, because of his songs not getting any radio play.
He had very few radio play songs. Most of them are far too long and involved for 3-4 minute radio songs. This one was written for the play "Whistle Down the Wind" and on stage is absolutely amazing.

Not to mention the footage comes from "Forever Young"...
Why do I feel a sense of Batman when listening to this song?
Because Jim Steinman wrote a lot of pieces for the Batman musical that sadly didn’t happen.
