You were brought up right. My band did this song in the high school talent show right after Bat 2 came out. I really wish I had video because it was epic. I had a pos strat copy guitar and I involved a blow up doll as the cheerleader... People didnt know wtf they were seeing. Then we rocked the fuck out of "Everything Louder." We got disqualified for some reason... Even though we got DQ'd, it was a fucking wild ride I will be proud of for the rest of my life.
This really has to have one of the all time best introductions. Jim Steinman is unsurpassed in his eerie, proto-gothic spoken word selections. Back into Hell is easily one of the best Lps of all time. There is no weak spot within the album.
My mom found bat out of hell 2 thrown away in a snow bank, she picked up the cd and gave it to me.i polished the face up so I could listen to it. This was the one and only single time in the history of my life were I cleaned up a piece of trash and it became pure 24k hold. This song? Was the eternal shine that reflected off the surface of this composition and as long I live I will always think of this song as one of the greatest I ever heard in the first 30+ years of my life. God bless you Mr loaf. If your reading this up there from heaven I just want you to know that I love you and you will be remembered for your Beathoven like talent.
You know that John Steinman wrote all the songs, right? Meat just sang them. He was a damn fine performer and the songs wouldn't have been done justice by anyone else, but Steinman was Beethoven, not Meat Loaf.
It just builds up to the wasted youth anthem. it gets you in the right emotional feeling. just like listening to free bird or something. you have to listen to it from the beginning so you really get the feeling when it gets to the solo!
Christ Almighty, what a performer. What a legend. Goddamn we will never again in our lifetimes see another MEATLOAF ever! God bless you Meatloaf. Thank you for the music and the memories. A true legend. Marvin Lee Aday, a name immortalized forever. What a fucking hero. God bless you.
It has taken me over half hour to find this song. Brings back good memories from my wasted youth. " And I said god damn it daddy, you know I love you but you got a hell of a lot to learn about ROCK AND ROLL"
I know how lucky I am! I was (no kidding) barely seventeen when I saw him first in 1990! Just 6 months finished school, walking on Henry St. Dublin and there was a poster up in HMV advertising Meat's gig. £12 or £13. Rang Dad and he insisted I get tickets! Dad, a mate and I went to it. Amazing! Instant fan. Went to see him again at a festival in Tipperary same year and all 10 following times he was here in succeeding years! No comparison, and I have seen hundreds of other concerts over the years.
I can't believe meatloaf is gone. He seriously shared a big part of my music taste during my childhood. This song got me into metal/rock/opera rock. A seriously underrated artist.
1994. I'd do anything for love. Fell for a gal hard with that song. Went to buy the album. Got them mixed up and got the original. Fell in love with those old weird 70s ballads. Love by the dashboard light.... 2 out of 3 ain't bad... Fast forward. Anger consumes me. I choose wasted youth to manage. Me and my bro love the song. Angry boy punching the bathroom dryer stall in the school. Run away from home, wandered the streets alone. So mad at the momma. Later, momma passes away. It's 2004 now, 10 years later. Review mommas joirnal and discover she wrote about how my friends prayed for me while I wandered those lonely streets. Walking barefoot miles as I jump out of the window. Meatloaf was in Springfield, Pennsylvania promoting this album in I believe 1992. I was about 9 months old and according to my parents I was singing to this song! So as my parents are getting there CD signed Meatloaf asks to hold me. So my parents are like sure , I guess! So I have an Autographed Polaroid Photograph of meatloaf holding me as a baby! I fell asleep in his arms too witch was great for my parents because they needed a nap too!
i love this the most iff this album...1st time i heard it.. i trold myself meatloaf is badass... i 'dsaid once i'll say it again the best comeback album of time
This song isn't the same without the intro. Even though the song is amazing. And has possibly my favorite line in any song. A wasted youth is better by far, than a wise and productive old age. Doesn't make sense in the real world, but a great line for a rock song.

No, Wasted Youth is "sung" by Jim Steinman, who is Meatloaf's producer, songwriter, and lyricist. Meat Loaf's real name is Michael (born Marvin) Lee Aday.
Growing up, I always thought it was, "That a wasted youth is never my fault at a wise and productive old age". As in, the adults running the world forgot what they were like in their youth and wouldn't take ownership for the influence the world they created had on the youth's behavior.
@Stargategirl044 That's a good idea. There's only a small chance you wouldn't like him, because he's music is so bombastic and fantastic. His lyrics are just like poems. And if you really understand them, they are very tragic sometimes.
I don't know in which place, in which dimension, in which world but I know that we will meet again and even if you become a butterfly, an insect or a flower, I will recognize you and we will madly love each other for all our time. RIP big boy❤
I was I think 13 when I started listening to this song and will listen and o it now and I'm only 17 its what we all like to listen to no one can change what we think id good music it our opinion this bat out of hell and id do anything for love are my favourite songs
I am sick and tired of everyone nit picking the Steinman issue apart. Sit back "put on the phones" and remember why you listening in the first place! The song used to mean something deep to all of us. What have you all become F ing accountants!!!!!!
this is amazing quality video and its a hard somg to find this song these days. my dad used to play it for me when i was just a little kid it brings me back. Love it!

Wasted Youth
Wasted Youth
I remember everything!
I remember everything little thing, as if it happened yesterday
I was barely seventeen, and I once killed a boy with a Fender Guitar
I don't remember if it was a Telecaster or a Stratocaster
But I do remember that it had a heart of chrome, and a voice like a horny angel
I don't remember if it was a Telecaster or a Stratocaster
But I do remember that it wasn't at all easy
It required the perfect combination of the right power chords
And the precise angle from which to strike!
The guitar bled for about a week afterwords
And the blood was zoot, dark and rich, like wild berries
The blood of the guitar was Chuck Berry red
The guitar bled for about a week afterwords
But it rung out beautifully
And I was able to play notes that I had never even heard before
So I took my guitar
And I smashed it against the wall
I smashed it against the floor
I smashed it against the body of a varsity cheerleader
Smashed it against the hood of a car
Smashed it against a 1981 Harley-Davidson
The Harley howled in pain
The guitar howled in heat
And I ran up the stairs to my parents bedroom
Mommy and Daddy were sleeping in the moonlight
Slowly I opened the door
Creeping in the shadows right up to the foot of their bed
I raised the guitar high above my head
And just as I was about to bring the guitar crashing down upon the center of the bed
My father woke up, screaming "Stop!"
"Wait a minute. Stop it boy. What do you think your doing?"
"That's no way to treat an expensive musical instrument"
And I said, "God Damn It daddy, "
"You know I love you, But you've got a hell of a lot to learn about Rock n' Roll"

I'm just another wasted youth

I should be acting my age
I'm an impressionable child In a tumultuous world
And they say I'm at a difficult stage
But it seems to me to the contrary
Of all the crap they're gonna put on the page
That a wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age
A wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age
A wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age
A wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age
A wasted youth is better by far

A wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age

No, Wasted Youth is "sung" by Jim Steinman, who is Meatloaf's producer, songwriter, and lyricist. Meat Loaf's real name is Michael (born Marvin) Lee Aday.
what a legend! that's my alltime favourite song! rip big boy!
Smokin' a cig.
Drinkin' a beer.
Lisenin' a great song
Got the world in my hand.
Theme song of my teen years growing up in the 90s :)
And if you really understand them, they are very tragic sometimes.
when i was about 10 years old, i didn't understand one word of this, but loved it, still love it.
Haha, this was my theme in the 90s. All you young kids can have it, now, but we had it first. =P

Meatloaf rules. Steinman's best lyrics ever
"Hose me down with holy water if I get too hot"
but there a million of them.
I am sick and tired of everyone nit picking the Steinman issue apart.
