Best point i've heard made on daily driving a manual. The skill needs to be kept current. Driving a manual once a week for a couple hours on backroads vs every day in real world traffic....no comparison in terms of driving skill and finesse required. People have it backwards...should be manuals for daily driving; DCTs and autos for absolute acceleration and fast shifts on the track. Daily drive your manual cars!
Yes! It’s like playing the guitar every day vs playing two or three times per month. The every day player will be better even if both are good enough to get the job done haha
One exception I'd make is if you're commuting in heavy stop and go traffic that's much slower than your car's idle speed. I've driven manual only while commuting in heavy traffic for 15 years. I didn't think it was so bad until I got a vehicle that doesn't need to do that. It is SO much better in stop and go traffic. Going back to manual in those conditions felt absolutely terrible, particularly if you just got an intense run done and your feet are sore. Using those sore /exhausted muscles having to feather the gas and clutch is definitely not fun, and I've had muscles spaz out from that. The technique feels as natural as ever. I never have problems switching. But I've quickly realized just how needlessly inconvenient it is to go at a snail's pace for an hour.
@@swishcheesee I kinda see it the opposite way daily driving in a manual builds the skills and hones them, driving long trips like a crossstate trip I want an automatic
Pressing the traction control button once gives you MDM, twice or long press is fully off. You can also make your own mode with MDM turned on for the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel. You nailed it with the compromise of the M2, but how that’s part of the charm. It’s one of the best in its class when it comes to being sporty and livable every day.

0:27 you think this car is expensive in your country, try to check the price of this car in Brazil EUA : something like 55 to 60 thousand (expensive) (you can buy it with 3 or 5 years of minimum wage in better cases) Brazil: 400 Thousand BRL (or higher) (It's because of the taxes, over valorization that these cars had there, Without considering the devaluation of the Brazilain money) (and you can buy with 30 or 40 years of work if you receive 2 or more minimum payments here ) Too much taxes for cars in all cases!
I'm looking to pick up an M2 for myself this year (granted I want the original M2, not the competition). How do you think these cars drive during winter? I never had a RWD before and I'm unsure if I should drive it all year around or pick up some old cheap car to drive during winter and stay safe. Really unsure what to do in this aspect.
You need proper tires if you get snow. If it has summer tires, they do not work in the snow. If you live in a heavy snow area and plan to use the m2, you will NEED snow tires. You probably minimally need all season tires. I have a m2 manual but have 5 total cares and would not drive my m2 in the snow(Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires).
I was ready to tear into BMW for the pricing on this, but it seems in line for it's performance. There aren't many options available as it seems like they fully equip it. $59k. Also, hat tip to whomever at BMW decided that cloth seats are a better choice for seating. Now please propagate that as available/standard choice up and down the line, or at least let us custom order it that way.
They're semi-optoelectric... when you turn the lights off, the panel goes almost all black except for the silver rings and needles. The bottom right corner along with the centre section is also fully digital (including that small "efficiency" gauge).
At 3:36 you say „clutch delay valves make for clunky shifts“ what does that mean? I’m not native English speaking but want to know that because i have problems with smooth up shifts from time to time in my bmw m3 or Mercedes A200
I had this car for a year. I know journalists love it. The car absolutely sucks to own. The shifter is from a base 2 series basically, high running costs, very stiff and struggles to put power down. TTRS weighs like 200+ pounds less and has AWD. I hope the next one is better and they give it a proper shifter. There's really no reason to choose a trash manual over a great DCT.
😂 Glad you sold it as you clearly don't appreciate proper sportscars if you mention Audi (but DCT is better and if you live in low grip areas, of course it will struggle putting down its power... that's what RWD do).
@@nessuno5403 I didn't say the Audi was a better sports car. I was saying this car is fat compared to its rivals at 3600lbs. BMW doesn't make any sports cars besides the Supra/Z4 anyway.

EUA : something like 55 to 60 thousand (expensive) (you can buy it with 3 or 5 years of minimum wage in better cases)
Brazil: 400 Thousand BRL (or higher) (It's because of the taxes, over valorization that these cars had there,
Without considering the devaluation of the Brazilain money) (and you can buy with 30 or 40 years of work if you receive 2 or more minimum payments here )
Too much taxes for cars in all cases!
Idk, I've always heard there's always so much more at Lover's Lane.
Love the content!
Please make video manual vs dct rolling race I never saw it before
so glad I disabled the fake engine noise. I do not miss that.
GREAT VIDEO!! I LOVE ALL OF THEM
Thank you!!
happy birthday teward!
Thanks Mike!
What? There are no cloth seats for this. Or is that your point?
I think a CVT in this would be perfect
🤨

Ayyyy Tedward reviewing my ride
those analog gauges look so much better than the new digital ones imo
They're semi-optoelectric... when you turn the lights off, the panel goes almost all black except for the silver rings and needles. The bottom right corner along with the centre section is also fully digital (including that small "efficiency" gauge).
Autobahn USA ftw.
Oh man this sold quick
I think the M2 is in actual fact the new M3. You know what I mean.
Would love to see a video of you trying the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0!
Yo I saw my city of Lowell 11:08 👌🏼😂
At 3:36 you say „clutch delay valves make for clunky shifts“ what does that mean? I’m not native English speaking but want to know that because i have problems with smooth up shifts from time to time in my bmw m3 or Mercedes A200
Missing the M stiching on the shiftknob but its a really nice Car
What a beauty
The M2 is my dream car but it’s gonna take some work to achieve with this engineering job 😂
you’ll get it trust me
@@shadowchrome_ Welp, I bought a Mustang GT instead 2 years later. Funny how that works.
@@lttsr probably way more fun tbh and cheaper to maintain
Ahh I've been waiting for this review
@@Juganator well, in actuality, the "Zupr4" is not made by BMW, but by Magna-Steyr in Austria 😜
Hey Tedward fan here!! Your pov inspired me to do my own and im new to it. Which setting should i use on my hero8 black? I couldnt even get the crisp footage like yours even though i did the setting you recomended 1440p @60fps ,Hypersmooth ON, Shutter Auto. What wrong i did here?
Very true about the clutch delay valve, it’s hard to get consistent quick up shifts.
Agreed. Had the same issues on the Golf R I used to have. Removed it within a week of taking delivery and really transforms the driving experience.
@@adam964 it was especially annoying as a novice manual driver. I bought a MK7 GTI as my first car and it was a lot harder to grasp even though I had a few hours of practice in a Civic Si. Gonna do the delay valve and swirl valve deletes and add a clutch stop soon.
@@TarzanGTI hopefully you'll find the delay valve delete as beneficial as I did. Best sub $50 mod ever!
You. Can’t go wrong either way 💥💥💥💥💥
