That turtle was at the very least 11 years old. Kinda sad, something special about turtles. Of course we don’t care at all when people slice open sturgeon for caviar . They are typically harvested around age 17-18.
I’m from North Carolina , I was taught how to prepare this when I was 9 . The catch is if you get one out the swamps well they eat anything so you have to feed it veggies and clean raw fish for a month even fruit to clean him out first.
There is a lot of dishes I would eat that he makes and there are others that psychologically I'll pass... Certain places in Asia caught me slipping... He has no cooking filters. If it exist and he gets hands on it... He will have it on that table.
Most of the things you eat had lives that don't want it taken away just to end up in your stomach you dope. Honestly try respecting cuisines from different cultures and you might find yourself enjoying more in life than you could possibly think.
