      Thanks! At one time she was qualified as conductor on full size trains at Mt Rainier Scenic RR where I volunteer. She conducted a photo special work train for me one time and we had a blast. I ran the Hillcrest #10 on that trip and I think they had two other steam trains running that day so coordination was very important.

    Id definitely join this club an pay fees an use fees a day as well if was combined for R.c hobbies these towns mini are spot on to scale same size as my own buildings I use in my hobby 1/14th scale tractor trucks an equipment. Great channel. Watching on to see if you can get more hobbies here . Once it's out that r.c can use as well an make there roads an get into it I feel this train club this hole club will be insane off the hook. As an Australian if this happens I'm traveling to America an bring my toys . I build r.c trucks for people and for myself for adult fun times. Once I see r.c driving around these tracks an town. Hell I'm there that week . Would be something to tick off my bucket list to see a full on town mini community being used to it's full on potential.

    Loved watching. But need to be more entertaining. Like R.c trucks trailers running around to give you something different to look at each time a train go around. Because in r. Each day is an moment is different if you have the r .c equipment. Keep em coming and ask board to combine hobbies r.c trucks trailers around the mini town we wouldnt be near the trains only in yards where loading is going on. Other then that r. Would t be near the trains we be around the mini towns an maybe crossing the tracks now an then moving dirt freight around. . Love to see it. Everything is to our scale / G scale . Trucks running around at that scale are 1/14th. Let's see this happen. Who like this idea. Like below 👇

    That's pretty cool. How do they work this? Are you a member of a club and pay dues or just rent a spot for your train? Or is it private?

      We are members but guests and visitors can ride free. They are open to the public during the hours seen here: trainmountain.org/visit/ They have a suggested donation box that helps support the operation. Membership allows people to bring their own equipment and lots of benefits. trainmountain.org/membership/

    What's the longest train you have pulled and/or seen in train mountain?

    • @ccootsona
      @ccootsona  Місяць тому

      Our little Green goose with the single 20A motor has pulled 6 long gondolas but that was probably pushing the limit of the motor and chain capability on the steep hills. More realistically 3 or 4 if we are going any distance. My friend has 2 Milwaukee Road box cab electrics (about 750 lbs each and 4 traction motors each) and he regularly pulls 10 or 15 cars with no problem. Some have gone even longer but you have to be careful of the drawbar forces with that kind of tonnage. The railcars need to weigh at least 100 to 150 lbs in order to perform well, and many are heavier, so it's easy to exceed a few thousand pounds with riders and all the accessories.

      @@jsmith198095 Yes, this recent series (parts 1-4) only covers the South side. When we go over to the North side things really spread out. We plan on a few hours to get out to the extreme other end (Hope Circle) and back.

    you did not pick up the yellow wheel chock off of the track after you retreaved the box car. uh oh

    • @ccootsona
      @ccootsona  Місяць тому +2

      I've done that a couple times and found out pretty quickly when things make noise. It's fine if you leave them at the back because the next person can use it, but when I leave them in the middle it causes problems. Sometimes it takes more than one to hold a long cut of cars on a hill so it's good to check it all out before moving a cut. Thankfully the Green Goose doesn't have enough power to get us into too much trouble. I have a scale cast aluminum wheel skate that caused the same problem so I added a hand brake to the goose for a quick getaway.

    why do you have the ties so close together?

    • @ccootsona
      @ccootsona  Місяць тому +1

      I'm not sure how that specification was developed but I can speculate that the tie spacing was derived from experience by the track shop. It could be partially a holdover from the original aluminum rail on wood ties, which doesn't bridge as well as the steel rail. However, some of the large scale locomotives exceed 1500 lbs so durability and stability are important.

      @@James-px8ji I think an individual membership is $75 a year and that allows you to run your own equipment. The meets have fees associated with them so we usually just buy an all meet pass that's good for the whole year along with our membership. I think the whole deal for membership and the meets is about $200. You can join and register for meets here on their website: trainmtn.org/tmrr/index.shtml

    I'm so shocked . All I see is everything that looks to scale for trains and all the space to have other hobbies inside this hobby like 1/14th trucks trailers earth moving equipment there is that much free space there they could combine these 2 hobbies in 1 place. Tamiya 1/14th scale trucks driving around the mini towns have a place that's under construction for people with r.c hydraulic earth moving equipment. Trains can be used for building up this town this full size G scale track layout is perfect for 1/14 th scale tractor trucks and trailers the displays are all the same size as my own personal displays we use in our hobby. Thing is there is no where for people in my hobby to actually play digg move dirt around build up mini towns make roads. We make roads with our r.c equipment. These cars are spot on to scale of our trucks that are 1/14th scale. Why don't they use this place for both hobbies hell even make a air strip for helicopters planes to use . That ways you get more people into the hobby and more people to join this train multi use track town layout. That ways there is more funds for your trains. As r c don't have maintenance like these trains an set up do. We do our own maintenance on r.c. So the new funds an memberships coming in will help the train community to build bigger safer and have more electrical points places so less people are over watching at key points. In-between all these trains tracks these so much room for like my hobby to join in we can load these trains with dirt freight or so on combine these hobbies make some r c roads around them displays make a place where people can digg sort dirt to fine dirt an chunky rocks. We then will make the towns more realistic with our r.c driving around these complexs . Id love to see it. And for your hobby it would lift up more an more as more people in r.c Tamiya trucks . People with r.c planes an stuff join the members will be more there will be more help because it's there . I think it's a win win. For these hobbies to join there in G scale. This is perfect for 1/14 lth scale. The towns homes displays are all same size as we us exactly same size. Seeing r.c driving around this place will do nothing but add to this hobby an all hobbies used at this place. Open it up . Please put this to the committee board my friend. . R c wouldn't even be in the ways of this train hobby if you combine the 2 with actual crossings everything an everyone is safe having fun and the train place gets to keep updating lines . Because r.c hobbies don't need updating like trains an lines. We make our roads an plan out building it as we go. Would look so real with all trucks driving around working. R c diggers going as you train past. People on you train can see an actual town working. Will bring in more tourist more funds. It's a win win. .

      Great idea! I replied in more detail to your comment in another vider about the scales that typically run here (1:8, 1:5, 1:3). But they have the G-scale layout that is maintained by a few enthusiastic volunteers so an RC truck/tractor town is a cool idea! I've always been fascinated by that stuff.

    But my friend, watching this amazing video all the time with your constant voice distracting from the beauty of the landscape is stressful. Let the images of the trip do the talking! The train is also silence and meditation!

    • @ccootsona
      @ccootsona  Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching the channel. I have several previous videos of the this railroad form last year without the talking where it's mostly the sound of the railroad tracks and the scenery. I would recommend watching these. However, the majoritty of viewers seem to like the guided tour narration because this video alone has gained over 40,000 views where the others only have a few hundred, so I'll continue to do both versions.
