    One could assume that I keep coming back for the drumming (true) but these tunes that master Lang offers us are killer compositions with melodies and patterns that hold up to anything out there.. Anika Nilles has a similar collection of pieces that feature the drums but also have all the makings of great songs.. Keep an open mind and life comes alive.. We need such medicine now more than ever.. Thank you Thomas for so many enjoyable hours.. I've only been drumming since 1964 so I still have much to learn ;)

    Thomas Lang évolue tout le temps , il à rajouté à son jeu très technique des percussions (sur une autre video , de ce fait il associe l'hyper technicité au grooves world music ...de plus c'est une personne humble et super sympathique ,pour avoir parlé un peu avec lui au dernier BAGSHOW ....Un Maître en la matière , et une de ses spécialités : son travail des pieds, est remarquable...Comme quelques autres batteurs il fait progresser notre instrument et de fait le fait encore plus exister face à ce déferlement de musiques programmées par ordinateur ...un grand BRAVO,et un grand respect , THOMAS !

      This is how real musicians record. Why do these people think that the right way is old school and the easy way is “right” nobody shows up to the studio ready to record. Garbage for the dude that spent there whole life getting it right, perfecting, and polishing. All these kids be like “what do you mean a click? Can’t you just fix it for me? ....I’ll practice to the recording before the show..” Fake musicians. 🤮

    • @eykeigh1408
      @eykeigh1408 4 роки тому

      if you are skilled enough to do so, its an opportunity. but there are some music styles where this feeling-thing is not needed that much and its all about tightness and perfection, so you work out, what most of the drummers can't do live. and the production will benefit.
      so its not a different approach to recording in general, but more a difference in the choice of what of musical way you wanna go.

    Thomas Lang is evolving all the time, he has added percussions to his very technical playing (on another video, therefore he associates hyper technicality with grooves world music ... moreover he is a humble and super nice person. , for having talked a little with him at the last BAGSHOW .... A Master in the field, and one of his specialties: his footwork, is remarkable ... Like some other drummers, he makes our instrument progress and makes the makes exist even more in front of this surge of music programmed by computer ... a big BRAVO, and a big respect, THOMAS!

Or, was someone else behind all of that magic? Haha. Either way, it sounds incredible. That ride ping and trashy cymbal mix is a hard wave to touch on.

      FALSE CHOICE, sir.
      We are TOLD total lies like "you can either play for the song or overplay". NOPE. Jazz drummers can play like maniacs and STILL SERVE THE SONG, but Rock drummers are mostly meatheads. We were LIED to about this. (The result is endless meh albums out there.)
      SIMILARLY, have you ever heard teh "conventional wisdom" (aka LIE) that there's ART MUSIC and then there's COMMERCIAL music? (Yeah, that's why Pink Floyd outsold 99% of the most "COMMERCIAL" acts ever?)
      THE DUMBEST GIRLS ALIVE are singing BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY at Karaoke! (Do you know how AVANT / EXPERIMENTAL that song is??)
      THE DUMBEST TEEN BOYS can easily hum TRICKY TIME SIGNATURS (from Pink Floyd's "Money" bass line, to Zep's complex riffs in "Black Dog" or "The Ocean").
      THE ARTSIER THEY GOT, THE MORE ALBUMS THE BEATLES SOLD.
      Everything they tell you is FALSE.
      EX:
      ever heard a person claim they DON'T "LIKE" Jazz, or Classical? (Play them the Peanuts theme by Vince Guaraldi and SUDDENLY they all admit oh they LOVE jazz!)
      (Play any male the DARTH VADER theme or Star Wars themes or horror movie themes and SEE how many go "yuck! this is CLASSICAL music!!")
