I love how he shows why he's a pro! Everyone take note of that ripping bass section, Thomas is just holding that groove, like a true groove monster. What a true inspiration to the drumming community.🔥🔥🔥
@@Edwinjn1007 Exactly, no such thing as the "best". Many different variations out there. Although Thomas is definitely ranked up there with that bunch.
One could assume that I keep coming back for the drumming (true) but these tunes that master Lang offers us are killer compositions with melodies and patterns that hold up to anything out there.. Anika Nilles has a similar collection of pieces that feature the drums but also have all the makings of great songs.. Keep an open mind and life comes alive.. I can see your mind at work, TL. I can't imagine what you'll sound like after a few more takes. Some tricky transitions (in there) that create lot's of room for experimentation. Very inspiring!
The best Thomas Lang playing I've ever seen, such a power player really locks this down so much control and groove. I like the way he digs the stick on to the snare just after the beat. This is it! Hideous music though...
I love your “old school” approach to recording, where you do a full take and avoid lots of chopping, changing and moving parts around on a computer screen. It’s much more organic and alive this way.
yeah with shit load of shoots here and there you can't even fucking follow what the fuck is going on when there are thousands of frames, I actually unsubscribed from many drummers channels just because of that, it's just impossible for me to enjoy those videos
@@RandySeverino Lots of modern recording encompasses of separate takes within one song. Not a lot of drummers/musicians do everything in one take anymore.
This is how real musicians record. Why do these people think that the right way is old school and the easy way is “right” nobody shows up to the studio ready to record. Garbage for the dude that spent there whole life getting it right, perfecting, and polishing. All these kids be like “what do you mean a click? Ever since you posted that sexy intro on your Instagram page i have been eager to listen to the whole piece, and i tell you what, this blew me away! Always loving some modern jazz fusion!
There's not on UA-cam any better sounded drum cam content or video!!Your sound is unbeatable!! Great work!! I can't of course say something about the playabillity, that part is perfect as i can't say nothing at all!!
Thomas, do you do all post editing (video and sound) for these UA-cam videos you upload? Like this video for example. Did you mix the sound to your liking? Or, was someone else behind all of that magic? Haha. Either way, it sounds incredible. That ride ping and trashy cymbal mix is a hard wave to touch on.
I love your chops, don't get me wrong, but to see all your technique applied in a musical concept is so inspiring to me. This video makes me want to play.
Awesome! Upon first listen - which is invariably unfair to both takes - seconds one felt better. But that may be because I could follow better after the first listen. I'll have to relisten to both I guess :) super fluid yet massive drumming 🤘
Just heard the final song, and Javier seems to have liked your very dry sound as it was. Great playing by all musicians on the whole EP, and who ever mixed / mastered it certainly also knows what he or she is doing. You can hear everything that goes on in all the instruments. Love it.
I recently had a go at recording after a long time away from music and the kit. Truly a case of use it or loose it unfortunately, watching TL run these flawless takes just makes me want to cry.
FALSE CHOICE, sir. We are TOLD total lies like "you can either play for the song or overplay". NOPE. Jazz drummers can play like maniacs and STILL SERVE THE SONG, but Rock drummers are mostly meatheads. We were LIED to about this. (The result is endless meh albums out there.) THE DUMBEST TEEN BOYS can easily hum TRICKY TIME SIGNATURS (from Pink Floyd's "Money" bass line, to Zep's complex riffs in "Black Dog" or "The Ocean"). (Play them the Peanuts theme by Vince Guaraldi and SUDDENLY they all admit oh they LOVE jazz!) great colaboration with a great guitarrist of my country
That second song fill / groove from the ride trash was just mwah! Love it.

Just WOW... very few drummers in the world are like this. In my view, Thomas and Gavin Harrison rule.
This is fucking nuts. I can only imagine ever being this tight and in the pocket.
Take two sits better with the backing track, from the first second on.
I also dig the embellishments more from a creative perspective.
