Langs needs a super group. Would love to see him in an actual prog band. Something he fits in and doesn’t require him to carry, and just fits for his style. Maybe its time for Lang to find a band. The solo projects are cool for the bills, but hes so accomplished as a player technically, but he needs that project that just justifies all that hes capable of with other like minded musicians to make some really cool music. Think of Liquid Tension Experiment of Trans Atlantic but the Lang version.
Dave Munsie I mean sure he doesnt “need” a band. But the drummer clinic technician show is only interesting to those in person. And the music that just pays the bills isnt exactly mind blowing or stretching the imagination. It would just help his reach to a younger generation. I dont listen to any of his recordings because they arent really my style. And im not the only one. It would just be belter to see a great instrumental group for an album that could better showcase his ability as a musician. Not a session player or instructor.

The way he accompanies the guitar solo with his own drum fills and cymbal hits is the proof that drums can actually be a fairly melodic instrument if you know how to play it that way. Great drummer, great musician, great everything...
i dont play the drums and cant read music and know nothing about music other than how it feels: and i really like thomas lang!! im mesmerized by his skill: and if he put a neon dot on his knees (or where shorts that are lighter in color) in the videos, i could better see and appreciate his amazing ability to play with his legs and feet!!!
Anybody broke down a fill between 39-46...0:39 seconds,especially when double bass kicks in,i broke down the hands but the second part is bugging me,like really...i'd really use some help here if there's a link for the notes or something...thanks
I don't know if you know this or not. but that lick that you did, at 2:13 seconds in. Sounded really good. When doing it, off the cymbal first. So you might want to go ahead, and add that one, for sure. To your technical portfolio.

Isn't that essentially said of him after the interview, that they wanted someone who didn't really want to experiment, but play the song exactly as written? I think so . . . that would be hard if I weren't the original drummer. Not really very fun, IMO.
@@Xformat01 agree... and ideed, I think that's one of the reasons why Mike Portnoy left DT. He needed a breath and do new stuff, as I read in an interview, and his mates in the band didn't accept. In fact I like more his playing since he left the band and is involved in several different projects.
I realy think that, Tomas Lang, would be the best drummer to Dream theater. Mike Mangini it's a greater drummer but, i like more the Tomas Lang style... Is only my opinion...

Keep tapping your left foot in time no matter what. Even if its on the floor by the hi hat pedal. It'll also help "anchor" your timing.
