    it is a little funny that it doesnt have a gear indicator but the dukes gears are so big,heavy and obvious what gear your in its really not even missed...ive given my hypermotards gears names...first and second are wheelie one and wheelie two followed by power gear one and power gear two then it goes into ludicrous speed followed by what the hells the point? or 6th

    one of the best ducati monster 821 review i have seen. Thank you Jon for your valuable views on the 821.
    You have a great voice/tonal quality one of the reasons i kept watching this.
    I have couple of question though
    1. is the clutch hard or easy to pull coz i checked out the 821 at a ducati outlet here in Mumbai, India and i felt it to be really hard.
    2. How is the 821 is stop and go traffic [Mumbai Traffic is horrible 20~40 km/h in early morning rush hour ], does the engine heat up.
    3. I heard the power kicks in after 5000 rpm , why does that do when we are in stop go traffic.
    Also couple of other things which i did not realize was the foot-peg placement the pillion rider might have problems placing his feet and no fuel gauge woahh , how will i know when my tanks gonna get empty then.

    I thought the 1988 Honda Hawk 650 "invented" the naked model category as well as the Monster styling. Ducati and Triumph then popularized the look

      It was Magni that introduces tye very first naked bike in 1977 with Magni-Honda MH and later in 1980 MV Agusta with 1100 GP model.

    NO FORK ADJUSTMENTS also...so if the forks are too soft/hard you have to take them to Race Tec to get them re-valved to your requirements. Even my Old zrx1200 had adj. forks.

    • @opmike343
      @opmike343 9 років тому

      +Martin Sage Well, pre-load still isn't going to be a replacement for getting the right rate springs for your weight. Pre-load is to set the bike/rider sag. It's not a replacement for forks that are outright too soft, so even if you have preload, compression, and rebound damping, you should probably be eye'ing the forks, regardless.

    • @mrj3795
      @mrj3795 8 років тому

      821 stripe has fully adjustable forks, Sage.

    • @MartinSage
      @MartinSage 8 років тому

      opmike343 I agree with everything you said. I spoke with Race Tec and they said they can do little for these forks. Why does Ducati go cheap on the forks?

    No gear indicator or fuel gauge and £2.5K more than an MT07 with an Akrapovic, which has both, I wont be changing anytime soon. Thanks.

    • @AutoTraderTV
      @AutoTraderTV  9 років тому +2

      Dave Ballard The Mt-07's exceptional value for money was one of the reasons why it was our bike of the year in 2014

    • @samr1321
      @samr1321 9 років тому +5

      Dave Ballard How can a gear indicator and an Akrapovic tin change the performance of a bike? Ducati is not a vacuum cleaner that needs a Termi or Akrap to make it sound like a proper bike.

    • @TheSQL-Lover
      @TheSQL-Lover 9 років тому +1

      +Sam Rad true! But at that price range, gear Indicator and fuel gauge should be standard.

    • @samr1321
      @samr1321 9 років тому +2

      +sql-lover right, but does the yamaha come with Brembo brakes and such powerful engine? does is it come with similar TC and similar weight? I'd more worried about my stopping power than a tiny LED showing me what I already know.

    • @AquaLoki
      @AquaLoki 9 років тому +3

      +Dave Ballard Why are you comparing the two? The Monster is in a different class. 115bhp vs 74bhp, electronic aids, brakes, Ducati probably sound better stock than a MT-07 w/Akra. Considering the differences between them, your comparison to a MT-07, it just proves how good value the Ducati is for 2.5k difference.

    The monster Looks very feminine now. Glad I went with a street bob. That exhaust note was sad and reminded me of a sick cat. I guess it's the liquid cooled engine..

    • @joaosoares3719

      Mic M It's just that ridiculous colour scheme... The red one - and specially the dark one - look manly. And the exhaust note here doesn't sound anything like the real one (a problem of youtube videos trying to capture exhaust notes, in general).

    Ducati managed to make classic monster uglier by every year now it looks grotesque.Shitty looking headlight,crappy looking frame,exhaust and overall not very Italian looking.
