Media Creation Tool: www.microsoft....
Forgetting a password can be one of the more frustrating things to deal with, and if you're unlucky enough to have forgotten the password to your Windows 10 PC account, you may be cursing to the heavens, so to speak. The good news is you can avoid this by creating a password reset disk.
Important note: A password reset disk only works with a Local account on your PC, not a Microsoft account. The steps for recovering a Microsoft account password are different.
What is a password reset disk
How to create a password reset disk on Windows 10
How to use a password reset disk on Windows 10
What is a password reset disk?
A password reset disk is a file you create on a USB drive or an SD card that when plugged into your Windows PC will allow you to reset your password right on the lock screen.
The best part about the password reset disk is that you only have to create it once, and it will work forever, no matter how many times you have to use it.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

It worked
Would it not affect the files on my flash drive
How i bypass workdomain?
Hi, I just tried this and ran into a problem. When I type in cd windows, it says the system cannot find path specified. what do I do from here?
@MFTechVideos Can you clarify the reset process for a Microsoft Account?
This was fantastic. Never found anything this concise and it works well if you follow instructions to the letter. Most presentations like this think they need music behind them or they talk so fast you can't follow them or their dialect is such I can't make out.. Many time I have tired for do a password reset but this is the first one to really work. Congratulation on a fine presentation.
Someone make this man president. He said it would work and it worked!
Glad to help.
Agreed
😅😅😅
This worked out awesome and very easy to use.. My mother-in-law just passed away, we got her pc and couldn't figure out her login password. Downloaded and burned Windows Media Tool, watched this video and got into the pc with no issues.. Thank you very very much..
You're welcome!
Same man, My Father-in-law passed away, can you help me out?
Thanks It's working
@@oppositecube just follow the video dumb nuts
amazing tutorial, straight to the point. love it. I just had a pretty big gig where I had to remove/reset 14 laptops and 7 desktops from an office for resell/recycling and this was an absolute LIFESAVER. thank you!
You're welcome!
@MDTechVideos hey can I know if this process deletes the data as in pictures and all from the laptop or not?
Please reply me, its very imp. For me🥺
Works for W11 as well.
09:06 is helpful for me, Thank you
Worked like a charm! Nice tips!
Only thing you forgot to say is to remove the flash drive as soon as you close both windows from prompt and installation menu.
Since the flash drive is booting up first (from bios booting priority), it has to be removed once you're done renaming cmd and utilman.
It works like a charm as of 3/2/2020, and reminder to all who watching this video, this only works on local account.
Best tut on entire YT. I did it myself but that was like 10 years ago. So I realized I remember absolutely nothing.
Very very good tut bro.
everything works till pressing the ease of access button but for some reason, the cmd prompt keeps closing as soon as I open it. How would I fix this?
Did you find the solution I have the same issue
This could all be easily done from the advanced menu no problem since no admin privileges exist due to not being booted into windows yet.
With your method you could just do this once the command prompt is available and you are using an administrator prompt.
to get admin prompt while in cmd type: powershell -command "start-process -verb runas"
1. net user " " * (yes you do need the quotes for spaces in the username)
2. This'll bring up two fields to create a password.
Leave both empty to get rid of the password.
3. press enter on the login screen.
Set new password as desired using this method, video, or other.
6/28/2024 after so many tutorials, it finally worked. Thank you.
Without any data lose..?
I tried multiple other suggestions for fixing this issue, but none worked. This one did! Thank you! One thing to note, though, is that this does break your CMD utility as it does not go back and rename cmd1.exe back to cmd.exe. I was able to do this from the Windows interface after the fact. Thanks again!
That's because the 4th line should be "rename cmd1.exe utilman.exe" (Or better yet, the 1st line "rename ultiman.exe ultiman1.exe" and a 2nd and final line "copy cmd.exe ultiman.exe")
Please help! When I type “cd system32” I get “The system cannot find the path specified.”
type "d:" and try type “cd system32” again
one of my friend get hacked, and the hacker found funny to add a password at login. You saved me a complete reset of the computer with your trick, thx a lot.
This has to be one of the greatest tutorials ever made!!!
Thanks!
Thanks so much!! I was dreading the thought of having to do a pc reset just because I forgot my password.
Everything else I tried failed but this works and also the production of vid was excellence clear and explained well
Fantastic news!
@@MDTechVideos is there anyother way to sign into a local acc without a flashdrive? I am having no luck with this
Thanks it worked like a charm! Do I need to rename and recover the old files somehow?
Great video! I have the situation where I have to do your "slightly modification" version. You say to run the "netuser Administrator /active" command at the "Troubleshooting spot" or something?. It's hard to hear when you do that? When do you run that command in your video (time-wise)
How to do it?
How to do it?
i did everything you showed. now when i type 'control password2' at ease of access command prompt it shows that ' this administrator password cannot be reset'. and the 'password reset' button is desable .
now what to do??

Many people in this world, they are called GENIUS. But for me if I rate you 1 to 10, for me you are no. 1.
Keep searching and learning more unhidden knowledge about what inside the computer system. But use it correctly and don't break the law.
Thank You Very Much. More power to you
You're welcome!
0) Press [ Shift + F10 ]
Commands:
1) C:
2) cd C:windows\system32
3) copy utilman.exe utilman1.exe
4) del utilman.exe
5) copy cmd.exe utilman.exe
What if I use a bootable pendrive
Hello. When I type "cd windows" at 5:04 (I have letter c, not d, that's where my windows is installed) it says "The system cannot find the path specified", help please?
Any solve?
Great tutorial! Sub'd & Thank you! If I wanted to prevent someone carrying this out on my PC (resetting password), is there anyway to prevent the above process? TY
You're welcome...and thanks for supporting the channel. Interesting question. You would need to employ encryption for your device. A good deal of enterprises require encryption software installed on their company-issued computers for the reasons you mentioned. I would suggest looking into Bitlocker for a more consumer/enthusiast-focused software. You can see by the ratings and comments that a vast, vast, majority of people do not have such safegaurds of else this tutorial would not have been successful for them.
Hi is the method the same way when using a USB instead of a CD . For example when you typing cd d: would it be different for USB thanks
Oh thanks SO MUCH. I literally have no idea what caused my password to change, and all these instructions and programs all costed money or involved a bunch of weird things like rolling back windows, but this is just like, changing the ease of access icon to be another way of opening up command line? I LOVE it.
AGAIN, thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Did you use a usb and windows 10 ?
had some trouble opening up the cmd after booting into win10 and clicking ease of access, it kept closing itself after about a 5secs but i kept rebooting until i managed to type in the thing and reset the password quickly enough
this was made harder by me having to switch the language i was typing in with left alt+shift, but in the end i got it to work!
thank you, great tutorial!
This is a great tutorial man, very concise and clear! Thanks for the help!
You're welcome!
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out forgot login password on laptop try Sovallo Code Reset Fixer( search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my neighbor got cool results with it. @Sheldon Livingston
It works very well if you follow the instructions in the video. This was very useful because my friend lost his password, and we were able to reset it because of this. Thank you.
Glad it helped
So all the data and personal files was saved??
@@michaelone9475 yes
Is there a need to copy utilman and cmd into new exe files (utilman1 and cmd1)? It doesn't seem like you used them. After all, you basically just renamed utilman to cmd and overwrote the cmd executable... all of the previous steps seemed like you didnt need to do ...
Soothing voice, very clear and very easy to follow! Thank you so much brother!
Still Works 1/3/2020
Great Tutorial my dude! works swell and very clear.

Thanks For your awesome tricks . it's very helpful

when i get to "cd windows" it says "The system cannot find path specified." what should i do?
you need to choose the main partition first, ie. c: or d: based on what you see in diskpart.

Can i use cd instead and burn it with windows password geeker(a password resetting ap) and when i boot can i get into the ap like you did in windows setup?
Hey there, I came across this, I got to the process where I had to pick a Volume. However, the only volume found was the USB that I used to boot from. Does this mean I have corrupted volumes?
For those that don't want to keep the command prompt on the Ease of Access button, maybe remind those watching to rename the files back to their original file names. Otherwise great video!
Good tip!
How are we supposed to rename them after?
@@dravendutch2494 three commands: [rename utilman.exe cmd.exe], [rename utilman1.exe utilman.exe], [del cmd1.exe]
@@dravendutch2494 (for anyone searching later) You'll need to boot via USB just as you started with this one, and do the shift-F10 to bring up the command prompt at the Windows Installer again. Repeat the same steps to change your directory but this time, you'll want to 'del utilman.exe', then 'rename cmd1.exe cmd.exe' and then 'rename utilman1.exe utilman.exe".
That's because in the original, we made copies of both, and then renamed the original cmd.exe file to utilman.exe (which means we have no more cmd). So by deleting the newly renamed utilman.exe file, we now are left with just the copies we originally made. Renaming them back puts us back to where we started.
Then just go ahead, close out the cmd prompt window and the windows installer box, remove your USB drive, and should be all set from there.
Great tutorial Sir but just one question will this method delete any data from my computer?
Glad it helped
while i type
C:\cd windows
the system cannot find the path specified
im using bootable usb
I followed all steps but button not work now. I just try to do it again but in system32 directory not fount any utilman.exe what i want to do now
Having a new problem an a Dell machine.. the click ease of access is NOT allow the cmd screen to open. So i'm stuck at this level.. any idea?
I’m not very tech savvy. I’m confused, how can I get into windows when I can’t into my computer?
Hey bro, I went into boot manager to see if it can boot the usb from there but the issue was the usb wasn't listed on there and not in bios either. The only thing close to it would be choose File from usb on bios option and even then I didn't know which file to boot that would bring up the proper Windows 10 setup. Please help dude! would appreciate
i am at around 4:00, and i got a list with 8 volumes.
volume 3 is the only volume with no lable but without a letter..

2) cd C:\windows\system32
