This worked out awesome and very easy to use.. My mother-in-law just passed away, we got her pc and couldn't figure out her login password. Downloaded and burned Windows Media Tool, watched this video and got into the pc with no issues.. Thank you very very much..
This was fantastic. Never found anything this concise and it works well if you follow instructions to the letter. Most presentations like this think they need music behind them or they talk so fast you can't follow them or their dialect is such I can't make out.. Many time I have tired for do a password reset but this is the first one to really work. Congratulation on a fine presentation.
amazing tutorial, straight to the point. love it. I just had a pretty big gig where I had to remove/reset 14 laptops and 7 desktops from an office for resell/recycling and this was an absolute LIFESAVER. thank you!
Worked like a charm! Nice tips! Only thing you forgot to say is to remove the flash drive as soon as you close both windows from prompt and installation menu. Since the flash drive is booting up first (from bios booting priority), it has to be removed once you're done renaming cmd and utilman.
This could all be easily done from the advanced menu no problem since no admin privileges exist due to not being booted into windows yet. With your method you could just do this once the command prompt is available and you are using an administrator prompt. to get admin prompt while in cmd type: powershell -command "start-process -verb runas" 1. net user " " * (yes you do need the quotes for spaces in the username) 2. This'll bring up two fields to create a password. Leave both empty to get rid of the password. 3. press enter on the login screen. Set new password as desired using this method, video, or other.
one of my friend get hacked, and the hacker found funny to add a password at login. You saved me a complete reset of the computer with your trick, thx a lot.
I tried multiple other suggestions for fixing this issue, but none worked. This one did! Thank you! One thing to note, though, is that this does break your CMD utility as it does not go back and rename cmd1.exe back to cmd.exe. I was able to do this from the Windows interface after the fact. Thanks again!
That's because the 4th line should be "rename cmd1.exe utilman.exe" (Or better yet, the 1st line "rename ultiman.exe ultiman1.exe" and a 2nd and final line "copy cmd.exe ultiman.exe")
Many people in this world, they are called GENIUS. But for me if I rate you 1 to 10, for me you are no. 1. Keep searching and learning more unhidden knowledge about what inside the computer system. But use it correctly and don't break the law. Thank You Very Much. More power to you
Great video! I have the situation where I have to do your "slightly modification" version. You say to run the "netuser Administrator /active" command at the "Troubleshooting spot" or something?. It's hard to hear when you do that? When do you run that command in your video (time-wise)
had some trouble opening up the cmd after booting into win10 and clicking ease of access, it kept closing itself after about a 5secs but i kept rebooting until i managed to type in the thing and reset the password quickly enough this was made harder by me having to switch the language i was typing in with left alt+shift, but in the end i got it to work! thank you, great tutorial!
It works very well if you follow the instructions in the video. This was very useful because my friend lost his password, and we were able to reset it because of this. Thank you.

Oh thanks SO MUCH. I literally have no idea what caused my password to change, and all these instructions and programs all costed money or involved a bunch of weird things like rolling back windows, but this is just like, changing the ease of access icon to be another way of opening up command line? I LOVE it. AGAIN, thanks so much!
For those that don't want to keep the command prompt on the Ease of Access button, maybe remind those watching to rename the files back to their original file names. Otherwise great video!
@@dravendutch2494 (for anyone searching later) You'll need to boot via USB just as you started with this one, and do the shift-F10 to bring up the command prompt at the Windows Installer again. Repeat the same steps to change your directory but this time, you'll want to 'del utilman.exe', then 'rename cmd1.exe cmd.exe' and then 'rename utilman1.exe utilman.exe". That's because in the original, we made copies of both, and then renamed the original cmd.exe file to utilman.exe (which means we have no more cmd). So by deleting the newly renamed utilman.exe file, we now are left with just the copies we originally made. Renaming them back puts us back to where we started. Then just go ahead, close out the cmd prompt window and the windows installer box, remove your USB drive, and should be all set from there.

Is there a need to copy utilman and cmd into new exe files (utilman1 and cmd1)? It doesn't seem like you used them. After all, you basically just renamed utilman to cmd and overwrote the cmd executable... all of the previous steps seemed like you didnt need to do ...

A good deal of enterprises require encryption software installed on their company-issued computers for the reasons you mentioned. You can see by the ratings and comments that a vast, vast, majority of people do not have such safegaurds of else this tutorial would not have been successful for them.
