the main problem with dungeons is that it set out to be baby's first diablo, and that's exactly what it is. it never deviates from that *at all* - unlike even mario games, which have optional challenges and an extra world full of them for the more hardcore players (and even those make you lose interest quickly since "the game doesn't start until the end". Why would i force myself through any game to get to "the fun part"? It should be fun from the start ffs). sure, there's some optional challenge stuff in it - but it's still easy af. It's no different from a regular mission, you're just forced to take longer to finish it. they should've made a dungeon crawler and slapped minecraft on top of it - not the other way around.
@@seasoraa i have, and no it's not. Why else would i make my detailed comment about it lol there's no depth to combat or levels. You just click 1 button (sometimes a second one), and that's it. i tried out Path of Exile a while ago, and stuck with it for way longer since there's actual depth - you've got to move around & dodge and actually use your skills, but dungeons is so piss-easy that you barely need to think about what to do next. You just keep spam clicking and bam, you've won. the ancient hunts & whatnot are more of the same, they're just designed to take longer.
Yeah the pig dying WAS funny. I mean, it was almost sad and then they turned him into a freaking pork chop! First of all, baby animals in the game don’t drop anything so it’s impossible, and second of all, that just killed all of the tension
Minecraft Earth had other things that survived, the Glow Squid was originally from Minecraft Earth. The Wooly Cow, Tropical Slime, Fancy Chicken, Moobloom and the Cluckshroom can also be seen in Minecraft Dungeons. Some content from Minecraft Earth other than that one track did survive (even if most of it ended up in another spin-off). I also wanna touch on one of it's other problems that actually effected me. Minecraft Earth didn't support every mobile device even ones that could do AR and had a list of unsupported devices right on the official Minecraft website. My Samsung tablet I had at the time wasn't on the list of unsupported devices but I couldn't download the game, google play wouldn't let me saying a update was incompatible. I had to download a APK file of the game from a sketchy website in order to even play it despite my device being "supported." When I ran into issues and went to the official discord server for the game one of the admins said my device wasn't supported despite it not being on the dang list and being cable of doing AR heck I even ran another AR game on it without issue. The list of unsupported devices they had on the official website was inaccurate, how? Was someone feeling lazy and never updated it? How did the admin know my device wasn't supported despite it not being listed?
Yeah, I bought it on Switch a bit after it’s release, then eventually fully lost interest around the time where battlepass features were implemented (this was well into the game’s life-cycle though)
DLCs for minecraft dungeons are only needed 1 of 4 players own them so all players in that team can play all content and different weapons/armors give fighting style to game
if you're gonna mention Education Edition, you better mention the previous version, MinecraftEdu, which is based off the version of Java Edition at the time and was made by an outside studio, rather than Education Edition, which is based off Bedrock
Minicraft is in an interesting position because I don't really know whether to count it as an official spinoff since it was just a Game Jam project that Notch whipped up. It feels more *inspired* by Minecraft rather than taking its ideas and spinning it off, so I didn't really include it.
Dude, you only have a few thousand subscribers? This is like 100,000+ subscriber worthy editing, and that’s how many I thought you had while watching. Seriously, great video.
What will be the next spin off title? Minecraft Heroes!!! A side scrolling platform slasher where you can only use sword, ax, mace, bow, crossbow, and scythe. The worlds will be planes, forest, tigers, mountains, snow, desert, Badlands, Cave, jungle, nether, and end.
I actually just went back and played both Minecraft Story Modes and aside from the graphical bugs that would happen every now and then it was for what it’s worth a good spinoff. If you look at it as a story being told through the use of MC it works. Though I will say in the second season of the first it felt rushed and thrown together at first then became coherent towards the end. While the second one had a good start it just turned into a mess. Legends you are 100% right in a way because as soon as I got creepers I just spammed them and would over run every outpost super fast what limited me was not having enough resources at times. Dungeons was also great in my opinion just needed constant content and a new story after you beat it with all dlc. I did a bit of the tower but it wasn’t going to sustain the game for long. If they worked on making a new villain and made the grind not that bad it would have possibly lived for longer. But we are here now with a great potential game stamped out and left in the dust.
I agree. I actually have both seasons in full on my Xbox 1. I remember it being on Netflix (which I don't have anymore), and when the episodes were like 1 buck each (very cheap). I hope Minecraft story mode comes back one day, but on the bright side, we have someone making a custom series on youtube about it, so it's not all lost!
Fun fact Persona 1-5 are all spin offs of Megami Temsei game series. Collecting demons and monsters and fighting against world, galactic, or universal threats.
for context for you guys, you can pirate it on internet archives ide recommend finding the one with season one and two cus its the only one ik for sure has no viruses and the go find the 7c files and install hopefully the swat dosent kill me
I agree that legends was mid, but i honestly think that dungeons wasnt too bad, for what it was it is pretty good. Wish the DLC's were free since microsoft doesnt need more cash, but besides from that there are updates occasionally
I think the real reason it doesn’t work is because Minecraft is supposed to be creative You’re supposed to build stuff and not have any objectives or you make your own objectives and I think forcing an objective onto the player makes it suck because with Minecraft people are used to making up their own stuff
I remember "playing" minecraft storymode on Netflix before the whole price jump and honestly it wasn't something I even CONSIDERED buying for myself with how lacking there was in gamepla. It belongs on a streaming service.
Dungeons while it has many flaws is still a very fun game. I go back to it often and it has the rare privilege of not getting deleted for storage on my ps5 because of that reason lol
I personally like the idea of Minecraft Earth, it was pretty neat and I am glad I played it, but yeah it was kinda relying on a gimmick. And I genuinely enjoyed Minecraft Dungeons, I know it isn’t balanced very well, but that’s kinda what I like about it. It can get chaotic very quickly, and the game will kick your ass. It feels like it’s against you, so when I finally beat it, I felt great. In my opinion Dungeons is the best of the Minecraft Spinoffs. The one thing I think they missed out on was being able to design your own levels. If they had the ability to have custom levels that could be uploaded for anyone to play, it would’ve dramatically helped keep the game alive. Also I feel like it was an extremely obvious idea for a MINECRAFT game.
im currently playing through dungeons and im actually really enjoying myself, mostly because im bad at video games so this is a good way to get the diablo-style experience without frustrating myself to hell and back bashing my head against the wall.
Imagine Minecraft spinoff based on games like warcraft Like factions based on the game, villagers and builders, illagers, undead and the nether all are playable But given what they did with legends Bet will not have one those because of lore, and Mojang will not make something fun play against other friends (But imagine using creepers has your army tho)
Also I genuinely love the Minecraft enemy desings of all spin offs, to bad they don't come to main game Like furnace golem from Minecraft earth is genuinely my favorite thing in this "series" So potencial of war or even a rpg is possible
Person who only had minecraft on the wii U here. It was honestly great to play for most of my life on the wii u. The game actually got updated frequently, and included a bunch of "mashup" packs that a middle schooler just didn't have the ability to get for free. I have a bunch of memories of me running around doing shit in there with no rhyme or reason, knowing full well that it didn't really matter and that I was just trying to see if the new blocks were implemented in the texture packs (They usually were). My favorite one was a norse mythology one, but there was also the ones you get on regular consoles (xbox has the adventure time one, for example), a egyptian one that I wish I played more, a pirates of the carribean one that had way too much stuff in it, and a nightmare before Christmas pack that had like 8 buildings next too each other and made me permanently unplug the system (there was also a short period where they decided to quarter the mouse sensitivity which also sucked, but that was before the NBC pack.) I'd give it a 6.5-7/10
I honestly think if Minecraft Dungeosm came out with all its DLC as a full 60 game like you can buy it now, it would have been a lot more successful. Especially after all the changes they have made to the game besides the DLC additions.
honestly with minecraft dungeons leaning into combat and exploration that justifies its existance, cause unless you're one of those "here's how to improve minecraft by turning it into terraria" youtubers or people who stand by the spam clicking gameplay hypixel players stand by to this day. having a spin off do something the main series can't is such a breath of fresh air. of course ideally a better spinoff would incorporate the strengths of the series be that crash nitro cart using the time trial crates to make a unique single player mode. while you can make spinoffs by taking characters into another setting or focusing on different characters entirely, because minecraft is a world instead of a set of protagonists it basically railroads microsoft into pure genre shifts. i can't comment on the game myself because microsoft deleted the account i made for the game after i paid because my edgy teenager email had a bad word in it. why the language filter is set to a damn email which should never be distributed to begin with is beyond me.
the only bad Minecraft spinoff was legends, Minecraft dungeons is fun at the start, boring in the middle and fun again at the end, story mode gave us a bunch of great ideas and concepts, the characters were good and the dialog was great. legends killed Minecraft spinoffs.
Honestly. I have played ALL of these except Earth (due to hardware limitations when it was around) and can say from personal experience and keeping my eye on their success (mainly to know if more content for each game would release)... The only true failures were code and Edu. Story Mode was one of the better Telltale game and did well enough to get a sequel, Dungeons was a pretty good game that mixed Diablo and Minecraft together which was pretty good, and Legends is mixed for me... Yes, it was a failure but I feel like it should have been given more of a chance from Microsoft and Mojang... My hope for the future of MC is that we get new spin-off games that don't lose support without a year or maybe 3 so that we may possibly see a successful spin-off that could impact the growth of not just Minecraft Java and Bedrock both, but the whole franchise in terms of Merchandise and other media released in years to come.
Minecraft dungeons is fairly enjoyable, but I agree with your rating. Minecraft legends I would of goven a two. Finny enough though Minecraft Legends only lasted a year before being discontinued. It gets stale so fast. A lot of these spin offs had big plans. Earth was supposed to be a worldwide Minecraft server but couldn't deliver due to moderation concerns. Dungeons is a bit better with DLC and is fairly good turn your brain lff game. Legends had DLC that expanded greatly on the orignal concept. Honestly the same problem with main Minecraft, they under develop. They've gotten better, but from the mob vote mobs to some of the creatures, they're always missing something. They're way too scared to take risks and so they just made everyone mad. It's sad tbh. Not the developers fault, more management fault.
Congrats, I am probably one of 10 people in the entire world who's only version of Minecraft is on the Wii U, its not as bad as you would think honestly.
you should look into all of the different minecraft editions / games. there's a lot and it's really interesting! like, did yall know theres a switch version of minecraft?
Ok dungeons is not a failure actually I had fun enjoying playing the game. The only reason I stopped playing is because I got PS5 and and learned that it not get any updates so i decided not to buy it. I rated a 8/10 with dlc.
Here is my general list of why I dislike every Minecraft spinoff. Minecraft story mode: Not a bad game but nothing notable about it, the story was decent and the dialogue was decent, but there is little to no actually gameplay. Minecraft dungeons: Really cool concept, but being forced to either swap weapons constantly or grind like hell to get a specific weapon of the required power is just annoying and stupid. Minecraft legends: I honestly don't think I have seen a single person play this one, its boring and promises way to much for what you're actually getting.

it never deviates from that *at all* - unlike even mario games, which have optional challenges and an extra world full of them for the more hardcore players (and even those make you lose interest quickly since "the game doesn't start until the end". Why would i force myself through any game to get to "the fun part"? It should be fun from the start ffs).
sure, there's some optional challenge stuff in it - but it's still easy af. It's no different from a regular mission, you're just forced to take longer to finish it.
they should've made a dungeon crawler and slapped minecraft on top of it - not the other way around.
have you even played dungeons, everything you mentioned they shouldve added is in the game already
@@seasoraa i have, and no it's not. Why else would i make my detailed comment about it lol
there's no depth to combat or levels. You just click 1 button (sometimes a second one), and that's it.
i tried out Path of Exile a while ago, and stuck with it for way longer since there's actual depth - you've got to move around & dodge and actually use your skills, but dungeons is so piss-easy that you barely need to think about what to do next. You just keep spam clicking and bam, you've won.
the ancient hunts & whatnot are more of the same, they're just designed to take longer.
story mode didn't fail though?
im the guy whos only way to play Minecraft was on wii u. (i eventually got it on switch and computer dont worry)
Same
Dungeons deserved better
Idc what anyone says mc dungeons is the best mc game
Thank you so much for including the sources to the videos you used in the description
Yeah the pig dying WAS funny. I mean, it was almost sad and then they turned him into a freaking pork chop! First of all, baby animals in the game don’t drop anything so it’s impossible, and second of all, that just killed all of the tension
Nah, i cried
Finally putting those leaked script fragments into context is really cool actually
I had to download a APK file of the game from a sketchy website in order to even play it despite my device being "supported."
When I ran into issues and went to the official discord server for the game one of the admins said my device wasn't supported despite it not being on the dang list and being cable of doing AR heck I even ran another AR game on it without issue.
The list of unsupported devices they had on the official website was inaccurate, how? Was someone feeling lazy and never updated it? How did the admin know my device wasn't supported despite it not being listed?
0:15 Hey, you should know the wiiu This edition was goat until they shut down online
My childhood
I would be lying if I said I didn’t have over 100 hours on Minecraft Dungeons. Say what you want, but there’s A LOT of content in that game.
You got the DLC?
Yeah, I bought it on Switch a bit after it’s release, then eventually fully lost interest around the time where battlepass features were implemented (this was well into the game’s life-cycle though)
I have hundreds 😭
DLCs for minecraft dungeons are only needed 1 of 4 players own them so all players in that team can play all content
and different weapons/armors give fighting style to game
Minecraft Dungeons is a good azz game and I still play it to this day.
Same. The hate it got in this video is absurd.

if you're gonna mention Education Edition, you better mention the previous version, MinecraftEdu, which is based off the version of Java Edition at the time and was made by an outside studio, rather than Education Edition, which is based off Bedrock
Very interesting history! It never came up because Minecraft: Education Edition is SEO optimized to death, but this is a cool find!
I feel like mc dungeons had some great potential that it couldn't reach because we the people behind it
Where is mini craft?
Minicraft is in an interesting position because I don't really know whether to count it as an official spinoff since it was just a Game Jam project that Notch whipped up. It feels more *inspired* by Minecraft rather than taking its ideas and spinning it off, so I didn't really include it.
@@Bagubuns well it’s made by notch but I guss
I still think minecraft earth has potential. Just add VR integration and public baseplates in places like parks where people can build together
Dude, you only have a few thousand subscribers? This is like 100,000+ subscriber worthy editing, and that’s how many I thought you had while watching. Seriously, great video.
23:02 thats kinda the point of a spinoff tho, like as a independent game it sucks but as a Minecraft spinoff its perfect
i disagree with a lot of the takes in this video, but I still enjoyed the crap outof it
That ending tho 😂😂😂
What will be the next spin off title? Minecraft Heroes!!! A side scrolling platform slasher where you can only use sword, ax, mace, bow, crossbow, and scythe. The worlds will be planes, forest, tigers, mountains, snow, desert, Badlands, Cave, jungle, nether, and end.
Hold up, Minecraft Beat-Em-Up sounds ffiiiiiiirrrrreee tho
Fun fact
Persona 1-5 are all spin offs of Megami Temsei game series. Collecting demons and monsters and fighting against world, galactic, or universal threats.
Minecraft and Mojang-one hit blunder, or one trick phony?
for context for you guys, you can pirate it on internet archives ide recommend finding the one with season one and two cus its the only one ik for sure has no viruses and the go find the 7c files and install
hopefully the swat dosent kill me
I hope Internet Archive stays afloat. They’ve been in some legal issues recently, but it’s a nerd’s paradise.
Hi!!! Im just wondering, do u draw your backgrounds yourself do u get them online or maybe even commision them! Just wondering
My backgrounds are drawn by me :)
Idk how good they are. I’m actually not a pixel artist, but it’s a lot of fun learning how to draw this stuff!
This a very well done video! Idk why this vid has only 2k views, this has the quality of a 500k viewed vid. ❤
Oh yeah, we actually DID do hour of code in 4th-5th grade.
As an ai language model, i am incapable of having my own opinions
I’m surprised story mode worked well like if u told anyone the concept of that game they’d say it’s stupid
24:03 I have 60+ hours on Minecraft dungeons lol
Dungeons was good
Telltale is also not dead, they are back making games, currently working on Wolf Among us 2.
They died and were resurrected on a smaller scale. Kinda like ToysRUs
@@Bagubunswait ToysRus is back?
10:29 AY YO YOU DID NOT HAVE TO MAKE DONKEY KONG FREAKY LIKE THAT. MORE LIKE FREAKY KONG
Also I feel like it was an extremely obvious idea for a MINECRAFT game.
im currently playing through dungeons and im actually really enjoying myself, mostly because im bad at video games so this is a good way to get the diablo-style experience without frustrating myself to hell and back bashing my head against the wall.
the minecraft spinoffs are honestly awesome.
Imagine Minecraft spinoff based on games like warcraft
Like factions based on the game, villagers and builders, illagers, undead and the nether all are playable
But given what they did with legends
Bet will not have one those because of lore, and Mojang will not make something fun play against other friends
(But imagine using creepers has your army tho)
Also I genuinely love the Minecraft enemy desings of all spin offs, to bad they don't come to main game
Like furnace golem from Minecraft earth is genuinely my favorite thing in this "series"
So potencial of war or even a rpg is possible
Minecraft dungeons could have gotten more content based on the newer updates of Minecraft.
honestly with minecraft dungeons leaning into combat and exploration that justifies its existance, cause unless you're one of those "here's how to improve minecraft by turning it into terraria" youtubers or people who stand by the spam clicking gameplay hypixel players stand by to this day. having a spin off do something the main series can't is such a breath of fresh air.
of course ideally a better spinoff would incorporate the strengths of the series be that crash nitro cart using the time trial crates to make a unique single player mode.
while you can make spinoffs by taking characters into another setting or focusing on different characters entirely, because minecraft is a world instead of a set of protagonists it basically railroads microsoft into pure genre shifts.
i can't comment on the game myself because microsoft deleted the account i made for the game after i paid because my edgy teenager email had a bad word in it. why the language filter is set to a damn email which should never be distributed to begin with is beyond me.
Good point (and rip your account)
the only bad Minecraft spinoff was legends, Minecraft dungeons is fun at the start, boring in the middle and fun again at the end, story mode gave us a bunch of great ideas and concepts, the characters were good and the dialog was great. legends killed Minecraft spinoffs.
7:38 Theres also a netflix version of mc story mode. Dont remember if its the full game but prolly not.
I find Minecraft Legends okay (but it is indeed boring).
For Earth it also released in pandemic so the thing is the game was rigged from the start
Lmao I don't even own all the consoles that Minecraft is on
The movieee 💀
I don’t know what is about 4J Minecraft but prefer it over bedrock and sometimes Java
Minecraft legends: I honestly don't think I have seen a single person play this one, its boring and promises way to much for what you're actually getting.
i miss minecraft earth.
0:13 i had the 3ds version. i loved it!
Minecraft education is basically free Minecraft
More like Minecraft is free Minecraft Education. I didn't even know that Java came bundled in with Bedrock until recently
