I love the bayonet on it. I have never seen that on a Howdah Pistol. I wish Pedersoli would make a bayonet for their Howdah Pistol reproductions. Thanks for sharing.
This looks nearly identical to the Howdah pistol carried by Michael Douglas' character "Charles Remington" in the 1996 movie 'Ghost and the Darkness'. Only difference is his seemed to have the bayonet on the bottom, and an additional wooden block on top of the handle that would brace against the crux between your thumb and index finger to mitigate wrist snapping recoil. Cool find and great video!
I'll have to check that out, I've not seen that movie, but it sounds like something I need to see. It almost sounds like you are talking about a "saw handled" pistol with that extra block on the back. Never the less, I've got to find this flick!
The engraving , profile of the trigger guard tangs & horn nose cap are pretty much identical to a Joseph Sharp big game gun i have , a London gun maker who i can't find much info on , any one heard of him ?

for real. why have they not? make one with that option.
Carry in a shoulder rig, with a cartridge pouch on the opposite side.
Ive shot on that target and its pretty tough. Better than fair shooting!

Great movie. "I'm gonna sort it out!"
About when was it made? Were there any percussion Howdah in the 1830s?
