I just started Subnautica and you're tutorials helped me find my way. Thank you for doing this. Figured I should probably get through the story of the first game before tackling anything involving freezing conditions and icebergs... (read: Below Zero) I managed to get to this point (base building) without tutorials and went searching and yours were the best. Watched 1-3, and though I thought I had a handle on the early game, I still learned something new. THANK YOU!
i know the video is old, but i had already built the sea moth, the moonbay and everything but i had no clue why it wasn't working. Then i searched up a tutorial for the moonbay and i saw it was attached to a base. Omg, i can't even describe the feeling, it was like i've spent hours trying to get there and that wasn't it lol, but this video simplified it real quick, awesome tutorial man
I'm 12 hours into the game. I've discovered tons of stuff, but I assumed you can't build a base without the multi-purpose room... so I didn't until last night. This would have been good to know sooner xD Great video.
@@kaijuking5971 Bruh, You can't get a multipurpose room in early game, I'vr built my base with tubes solar panels foundations anx vertical connectors, Then finally got those 4 rooms then started reconstructing my base.
I just have a question, if I build a room over the solar panels and the room blocks light coming into the solar panels, will that affect the rate of power gaining during the day? Or is it unaffected?
You know I’ve never tried that but I’m guessing that it will affect the power generation. The only reason I think so is because solar panels don’t work if you build a habitat in a very deep location - the sun can’t reach them. So the same principle probably applies here.
I really appreciate that, and I’m glad the video was helpful. I really hope to have a chance to get back into subnautica and revisit the game again, these videos are getting a little old but I’m happy they’re still relevant.
Wow, I am very surprised you still answer to new comments, even tho this video was posted 5 years ago. Also I would like to thank you for this helpful guide! I downloaded Subnautica 2 days ago, and tomorrow (at the moment I posted this comment it is night) I will make a prawn suit and I'll build a base
Hi I just recently started playing and I’m playing on Xbox I was wondering if you knew what button I would need to push on the controller for me to use the fabricator
Oh that's actually going to be a blueprint that you already have. I don't remember the exact location of it in the Fabricator menu, but it might be under Personal --> Tools.
Hey I know im mega late and have no clue if you'll respond but if you will xo you have any starting bases that have a moon pool so that way I can charge my seamoth and I don't want to keep wasting resources on power cells
It’s really just a limitation of where the game will let you place things, so it doesn’t try to build something in a way that will cause graphical errors.
I know what you mean. Sometimes some objects won’t place in water and you need a multipurpose room or a bit of a large space with NO WATER INSIDE. Because some stuff won’t place down in water. Hope this helped!
Hi, thanks for the watching the video! Are you referring to rotating the habitat piece before you place it down? If you’re using a keyboard/mouse, use the mouse scroll wheel while you’re about to place the piece. If you’re using a controller I believe it’s the left and right on the D-pad.
Larry, you obviously know this game pretty well. why have you not upgraded your oxygen tank? I've been playing a week and I upgraded! 135 seconds of air!
I just started playing this and my habitat keeps flooding didn't know why. After watching this I know why, I thought the solar panels only worked above water so I just stacked pipes to the surface then placed them on top out of the water. I feel like an idiot.
I’m glad the video helped. Some of the construction in Subnautica is totally non-intuitive so you really shouldn’t feel bad, we all had to learn with trial and error with this stuff.
Oh thanks so much some kid i guess he was lying because he said the habitat builder wasn't for making a base and called me stupid..I just started so i didn't know how to build anything

Yes indeed. It adds hull integrity. You can also add reinforcement panels to make it stronger too.
