  • Just a little walk through history on a nice day. Lincoln, Grant, most anybody that played a roll in the Civil War passed through here at one time or another. Both Confederates and Union not to mention the British in the war for independence.
    Two websites I mentioned:
    National Park Planner : npplan.com
    Grants Cabin article with pictures
    npplan.com/parks-by-state/vir...
    American Battlefield Trust
    www.battlefields.org

Amazing to me this sleepy little place had so much activity over the centuries. Even Clara Barton was a nurse here during the war. Over next to the park where I take my morning walk. Captain John Smith, John Rolfe, Pocahontas, Grant, Lincoln, Lee and others at one time or another have been right here. Just amazes me. Thanks for watching. Steve

I’m reading “Team of Rivals” about Lincoln and his opponents in the presidential election. He made them his cabinet when he won. It’s nice to have your visuals of the places he actually visited and existed not so many years ago. Thank you for bringing us along. It’ a true pleasure being one of your subscribers.

This video is an exception, mostly I'm just flapping my gums. Been to a handful of smaller places this year. Just interesting to me. Lived in the area almost 60 years only been to a few. Kind of checking the rest out little by little this year. Thanks. Steve

That's how my minds eye works too. Like you said, how cool is that to be possibly standing in the same spot that Lincoln and Grant and others stood. So cool!

Kind of got the bug in grade school. We took a school trip to St. Johns Church in Richmond and saw where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me Liberty" speech. Been checking things out ever since. Totally different between hearing about it or reading it in a book and actually being there. Gives me a little something to do and enjoy. Take care. Steve

A lot has taken place in this little sleepy place. I like to get out once in awhile and check it out. There is a lot more that happened here over the centuries I just kind of hit the highlights. There was a barge that exploded during the war just off shore from that pier. Just interesting to me. Thanks. Steve
