I have seen that whole Squirrel video and it belongs to a Japanese family. It is hilarious and it stages its death for attention. Every time the broom got a bit heavy it moves it and throws its arms out again and dies. They even step over it at one point and it doesn’t move. Pretty sure from the video this one isn’t in Australia.😂

Yeah- That's Sunrise (on our TV)- we don't have squirrels- we have a lot of possums that even are in our yard and enjoy the fruit we fed them. They like apples and grapes and eat the guavas and mulberrys off the trees.

If you get a bad haircut, the last thing you want is the same hoof-handed bumbler who cocked it up in the first place trying to fix it. So just mumble "it's fine", pay up, and then go home and buzz the whole lot off with a #3.

    • @roadie3124
      @roadie3124 4 місяці тому +2

#3 is good. It's as brave as I'm going to get. I'm 75 and I'm not into radical stuff like a #2. But why pay for someone to make a mess of your hair before you get out the clippers at home? Just go straight for the clippers, do it yourself, and save money.

I live in qld, husband lives in nsw atm and he called and told me about rescuing the smallest frog he's ever seen today. he said its legs were like "those bobby pin things you use" and a vibrant beautiful almost translucent green. he found him in a pile of dust in a corner, must have got lost in the house after the rain. gave him a good fresh clean water bath and he came good and is now hopping and hopefully happily repopulating. thought you'd appreciate the story, the northern nsw coast is literal ferngully and I hope you see it one day brother!

It really is, I love living here. One time after lots of spring rain, I went outside and there were hundreds of froglets in the grass. Once I realised, I stopped walking and a bunch of them jumped onto my feet, they were so tiny and cute but I was marooned in the middle of the grass, not wanting to step on any.
I ended up crouching down so I could see where they were and basically duck walking back to the house.
My daughter was at the kitchen window looking like "oh, it's happened - Mum's lost the plot".

You basically can't have any native animal as a "pet".
Most of these videos actually come from licenced animal recovery carer's who take in injured or needy animale and care for them until they can be released safely.
There are some animal recovery centres, but being so big of a country often its just done at the carer's home which is often on a bit of land.

@@35manning sadly too many do the wrong thing. I was recently looking at lorikeets on gumtree & there were numerous there that spoke of being "rescued" & "hand raised" & those people were then selling them as pets. Their ads made it clear they were wild born & claimed things like mothers deserting them in storms or whatever, which is bs for birds that nest inside hollows & made themselves out to be the heroes for "rescuing" these wild birds that should have gone to a rescue organisation for raising & release, IF they were actually deserted by their mothers. Lots of similar stuff with our wildlife unfortunately :(

WOMBAT FACTS : 10 things you might not know about wombats
    [ # SA's Depart for Environment & Water : Good Living Oct 2022 ]
There are three species of wombats: The common wombat (Vombatus ursinus), the Southern hairy-nosed wombat(Lasiorhinus latifrons), and the Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat (Lasiorhinus krefftii).
    # Get to know SA's [ Southern ] wombat species with these 10 fun facts.
    1. These furry marsupials sure are stocky, but don’t let that fool you, they can run at speeds up to 40 kilometres per hour which is just under retired sprinter Usain Bolt’s fastest recorded speed.
    2. The southern hairy-nosed wombat is the state fauna emblem of South Australia. They are found in the south-east of Western Australia and in southern South Australia.
    3. You’ll never mistake a wombat poo for any other animal’s, because wombats are famous for doing cubed-shaped poo - pumping out around 100 of these a day. Long story short, it’s all to do with their very slow digestive process.
    4. As a marsupial, the southern hairy-nosed wombat has a backwards facing pouch where the young develop. The direction of the pouch means the joey is protected from dirt if the mother is digging. How convenient is that!
    5. Wombats have a strong, stocky build with short legs and large front feet. Their feet have flattened claws and five digits. The second and third toes of their hind feet are fused and have a double claw used for grooming.
    6. Wombats usually give birth to a single joey, which is blind and hairless and weighs about 2 grams. It crawls into its mother’s pouch and attaches to one of its mum’s two teats, which will swell around the joey’s mouth, fixing it to the teat so it doesn’t fall out of the pouch. The joey stays in the pouch for 8 to 9 months. After emerging it will still suckle but also start eating solid food, and will stay with its mother for another year or more.
    7. A group of wombats is called a ‘wisdom of wombats’ a ‘mob of wombats’ or a ‘colony of wombats’. The name wombat comes from the Darug language, spoken by the Traditional Owners of Sydney.
    8. Wombats closest relatives are koalas - if you check out their noses you’ll see they are pretty similar. Unlike koalas though, which sit upright, wombats are horizontal and their mammalian spine is designed to be supported at the shoulders and hips by their legs. Because of their horizontal structure, they have far less spinal issues than koalas and humans.
    9. Also, wombats can jump! Some have been known to jump over metre-high fences.
    10. Fatso the Wombat, who starred in television series ‘A Country Practice’, was played by three different wombats named ‘Fatso’, ‘George’ and ‘Garth’.
    World Wombat Day
The 22nd of October is World Wombat Day, a chance to celebrate the birth of these Aussie legends. Why not follow a Wombat Day ritual and make a wombat cake, wombat fudge or wombat {Cube Shaped ! } brownies?
Wombat Joey's don't leave their Mothers [ as in; are in Constant Contact ] until around 15 months. They will fiercely attach to their Human Carers and will become extremely distressed if separated. That's why they 'follow' wherever you go. If you close a door between you and your baby Joey, you will soon find how strong and determined they are to get to you. They will claw and bite straight through any door between you, as many human carers can confirm. So its quite a commitmment to raise an orphaned wombat Joey.
Despite infant attachment, they are not a Domesticated animal. Adults, particularly males, can become quite aggressive and territorial and bite.

@garryellis3085, do you also hate when youTube commenters get upset about other people getting things wrong, that they think they know but clearly don't?

Heres a short cut to our wildlife Ryan. Any wild animal that you think you know of that exists in the US - WE DONT HAVE THEM. No bears squirrels big cats moose elk bison hummingbirds .... cant think of more atm ..... we do have deer and foxes but they were imported. But otherwise if you think its something you know it wont be dont assume dont ask just learn. AND ONE MORE TIME FOR LUCK YOU CANT HAVE AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE AS PETS. The flying squirrel video went viral world wide but isnt Australian. It was most likely filmed in Thailand. Who knew!! apparently. But it was included with Aussie memes so thats forgiveable. We have sugar gliders but we dont have squirrels.

There are a handful of native animals that you can legally own as pets. These are mostly birds such as parrots and finches. They must be purchased from licenced breeders and cannot be caught from the wild for pets.

@@jackvos8047 reptiles too & attempted smuggled wild ones in reptiles, if unable to be returned to the wild (as is usually the case, due to no clear location they are from available), then National Parks actually gives them to licenced reptile owners as pets (they run a lottery that any licenced reptile person can enter if they want one or more of them & lottery winners get them if there are more people wanting than available reptiles, sometimes for big catches, it goes the other way & National Parks contacts societies to ask them to ask their members if anyone is willing to take them).
Many bird species can be purchased from anyone too & it's also not uncommon if a bird will adapt well to captivity, but is not releasable, that wildlife carers will quietly send it into captivity, rather than euthinasing. That mostly happens with baby birds with an injury that means they can never survive in the wild

Possums are Australian. Opossums live in the Americas. They aren't all that closely related, but they are similar enough that we borrowed the name.

The National Rugby League (NRL) is opening their season in Vegas on 2nd March. The NRL is the biggest sport in the Australian states, New South Wales and Queensland.
You should do a review of Russell Crowe talking about what Rugby League is as part of a promotional ad in America.
FYI - do not call it Rugby (Rugby union), that is a different game to Rugby League.
