Maybe I’m late to the party but has anyone else noticed the overview/first look thumbnails are color coded by publisher now?! I love it! It’s the little things 🥲
Thank you for noticing.
Such a good idea to include toys based on the series inside the extras. Free advertising.
Would kill for a reprint of The Long Halloween or DC: The New Frontier in Absolute format.
Still waiting for the day that DC finally publishes TDKR alone in absolute format. Maybe in 2026 🙏🙏🙏
Agreed, I have no interest in Strikes Again - I just want TDKR in Absolute
yea, that would be nice. Honestly I wouldn't even mind including Strikes Again, but do it as a second hardcover in the same slipcase. Basically I just want a large oversized TDKR. I currently favor the four issue hardcover slip case set, the only slight issue with them is the binding is needless tight & glued.
@@downtowntrain2319 Agreed - they could do it like the Absolute Year One - one book for DKR and one book for Strikes Again
I have this one as well. Since TDKR is only 4 issues, I would love to have seen a version like Absolute Batman: Year One, where you have two different printings of the story. A pencils or b/w version of the story would have been a great addition or even for TDKSA in b/w..
May have to pick this one up Omar! Been getting into Batman lately with a few Omnis. Absolutely love the absolute format
Omar, the content of the book that you put on screen is wrong, don't know if you want to correct that. (You put the content of the Zero Hour Omnibus).
Ohhh goodness this is why I don't edit while I'm exhausted.
@@NearMintCondition it happens to the best! Happy birthday, my friend! 🎉
I actually like DKSA
That's what I like hearing!
I have to hire you then to explain what the heck I just read. It's like reading non-sense made-up words and bizaro art straight from a nightmare. I have to go see my dr cause I think this story lobotomized my brain.
I do find some merit in strikes again. It's a poor execution, but there are good ideas in there.
The extras aren't enough to sway me to grab this. I really enjoy the DKR HC box set that I got last year and for the DK2 books, I like the line-art only Noir edition, those colors deterred me from purchasing those way back on it's initial release.
It’s a great story and it looks like a better printing than the first printing I might pick it up. Frank Miller is a great writer and creator
5:02 Looks like the description of the contents are a little off on this one. All good, though! 😉
I missed the last printing, so I made sure to pre-order this one.
Thank you, buddy.
I never owned the Absolute version of these stories... only single issues (thick) and a regular hardcover of the first story. Looks impressive. Also, have you seen X-Men: From The Ashes - The Official Trailer by Marvel Comics/Marvel Entertainment video? Thanks for this AWESOME overview, Omar! And again.... Happy Birthday Month, Omar! 🎉
Man I wish they would redesign this edition. Either do DKR absolute on its own or do it as two hardcovers in the one slip, kinda like absolute year one. Also full page issue covers please!!
I will never own this. Why won’t they just print Absolute Dark Knight Returns? Strikes Again misses the mark so badly it does not get space on my shelf.
I hate how the A in Absolute on the spines is cut. It bugs me so much that Ive been avoiding this book for years... was hoping they would fix it but apparently not.
1st world problems.
@@featofclay2295definitely😅 but what can I say...
Did you have a good birthday yesterday Omar?🙂
I did, buddy.
You gotta watch the animated movies omar. They are even better than the comic if I'm being honest. Peter weller is phenomenal as batman and the music is just incredible.
Are there two of them? I will.
It was originally released in 2 parts, like crisis which is like 3 parts I guess. Well this analogy sucks but you get the idea which is the important part. WB then released a all in 1 copy and like the original comment on this thread it is very enjoyable. In fact, I will watch it later tonight. @NearMintCondition
@@NearMintCondition Yes. part 1 and part 2. But I think there's also a blu ray deluxe edition that includes both movies as one.
I love the first story....the second not so much.
I bought this 2 weeks ago, this is my 4th version of it, I have the 'Leather' bound version, B/W Noir version, and the 4 book slipcased editions . I have the Absolute 'Master Race' on Order, I wonder if they'll release 'The Golden Child' in Absolute edition too?
It's coming back later this year.
Which would you recommend for the Dark Knight Returns: the absolute or deluxe edition?
At this point I'm beginning to wonder if DC's dogged insistence on including DKSA with DKR in absolute format is actually something Miller had sneakily managed to obtain in a contract prepared by a DC lawyer who has since been let go.
I bought this because I never read the follow-up to DKR. Now, I bought the original issues of DKR at my comic shop back in 84. None of us have ever seen anything quite like this before, it was a profound and trend setting comic story and art style. Now, knowing how much I loved and respected the original story, the follow-up sequel absolutely sucks. Horrible story only over shadowed by the worst artwork for a batman story that I ever personally witnessed with my own 2 eyes. I do own the absolute DK3 master race, and I enjoyed that story not as much as the original, but it blows away the 2nd story, hands down and this comes from a 54 year old comic fan.
Please review Spiderman unlimited#14 by David Finch
I still don't understand why DC haven't made a Batman by Frank Miller omnibus. These 2, DK 3, Year one & all star batman & robin would make it the right size for an omni. I know only 2 of the stories are good but still. It would sell a stupid amount. I know DC make money sell all of those stories separately, but that's the case with all bat books.
I guess someone at DC really wants all the Frank Miller in absolute format. They probably assumed no one would buy absolute Dark Knight Strikes Again on its own.
I literally knew nothing about DKSA. In fact, I learned it only existed a year or so ago. So my opinion was not pre tainted negatively. This story is without joy, entertainment, or merit. It is trash from the nonsense baby babble word bubbles to the horrid art, and I use that term loosely because if this is art, I have painted my toilet bowl better.
I like the absolute editions, but in this case i got the Dark Knight Returns slipcase edition and Dark Knight Saga Deluxe. I don't buy this absolute because of the Dark Knight Strikes Again...
Do I need to read anything else to understand the House of M Omnibus?
Not really.
17:37 Is that a Jojo reference?
I want DC to know I would pay more money for Dark Knight Strikes Again to not be collected. More money for less pages printed, cause I’ll be damned if I have that turd on my shelf
I only bought it for the DKR, the least said about the 2nd part the better. Truly awful artwork and story.
I absolutely (no pun intended) agree.
It would be so much better to have an Absolute of only the DKR with maybe the extras put on full page (i still can't believe that in all the editions the original 4 covers have to share the same damn page)
Leaving aside the merits or lack thereof regarding DKSA, the slipcased 4 volume HC edition of DKR is currently the way to go for me. While I do miss the Absolute page size what seals the deal for me with the box set is the original 4 book breakdown with the iconic original covers, which is the way I originally experienced reading the story on its initial release (yes, I'm that old!). As others have noted, the 1-page reduced size cover depictions you get in the Absolute is a travesty.
Most important comic ever?
This or Watchmen.
I have the first part and liked it, bought the 3rd part and ... terrible drawing for me.
I don't want The Dark Knight Strikes Again anywhere near my collection. Hideous book.
True but damn.. This book is to good to pass up.
Agreed! I’d worry Strikes Again would contaminate the other books in my collection with it’s suck.
@@matthewmanghi5765 just pretend it's not there 🙃
Literally the reason I will never own this absolute. I still feel my deluxe edition that includes DK2 is doing contamination to the shelf it is in.
