Hey TDE, great vid. I bought this Absolute Edition after your watching and I loved every bit of it, including the story. In fact I’m the guy, the only guy, who loves The Dark Knight Strikes Again. I thought it was great and this story feels like (and obviously it is) a great sequel to that story. But the book itself has to be one of the best produced books I own. The cover gallery is stunning. Thanks again for the vid. And one last thing, it’s been a while since you’ve posted and content. We all miss your vids. I hope you’re doing ok. Drop us an update to let us know if your ok.

Many thanks Walter! I don’t regret buying it and am very selective now on which books to double dip/upgrade. In my opinion it’s totally worth it just for the extras/covers alone.

Superb review as usual! The book looks fantastic, but undecided if I'll pick this up. Wasn't the biggest fan of the writing, but maybe it deserves another read. This would be a quadruple dip for me! Damn completionism 😂. Wish I held off on the "covers" book like you. Feel better friend!

Definitely not... just need to just back off a bit this year. The video I’ll be dropping this week is somewhat Batman related.
The Last Crusade was also available as a single 'square bound' flopy and not just a HC.
I agree about praising the collected edition staff.
Some issues (mostly 1 to 5 iirc) 'Director's Cuts' of issues which had the pencils of each page and the script plus the mini-comic was blown up to regular size.
Does the 'Cover Gallery' have the B & W 'ink' only of the various store 'exclusives'?

😂😂😂 The way he puts down all his peers in the comics industry is unacceptable and people are either supporting him or keeping silent. Best to keep calling him out. I tried giving Kirkman’s Walking Dead for the first couple HCs but had no interest continuing it. I do love Invincible though!

uuuuugh, why oh WHY couldn't swamp thing have had this quality. the entire back half of my book is off the ribbon! this build looks more like Y the last man's absolute, which has had the best quality of all absolutes with regards to binding
It's a real shame cuz I really love Swamp Thing and I've never read Alan Moore's run and I wanted to wait and get the absolute Edition now I have to hope for a new printing of the absolute editions that fix that problem

I'm definitely going to buy it mainly because of the art. I am curious what the story is about. I've got a question though. If you own Absolute All Star Batman & Robin, can you make a video about it because I want to know what the extras are and if it has issue 10 on it ? I own the softcover and it didn't include issue 10. Great video by the way.
Thank you but I’m taking a break from reading anything Batman related for a while due to limited hours I have these days and catching up with other titles. I’ll definitely revisit in the some time in the future though. Have an idea to cover all Batman Absolute Editions.

Even though he’s my favorite character I agree, DC has had a case of Batman overkill since at least 1989 lol
I hope they eventually print this in a smaller size similar to the Dark Knight saga deluxe edition so it would fit nicely on my shelf. I held off on buying the standard trade cause I knew they would print one with all the variants and the Romita Jr/Joker issue, so maybe by the time of the next version they’ll include the Golden Child as well
Oh.. I feel its been much more than that in recent years so DC can keep up on the Diamond sales charts with Marvel as Batman always sells (and we buy). You mean a Dark Knight Returns Omnibus? The Golden Child is in the Magazine format, will take a lot of work to reformat that to he standard size so I think they will just make a standalone hardcover of it like Damned/Superman Year One.

I never read this series, after being so let down by The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Would you consider DK III to be "must" reading, in the same sense at The Dark Knight Returns?
Even if you haven't read Strikes Again, I don't think you'll have any problems knowing what's going on with the expanded characters/universe. Its definitely more grounded than the crazy Strikes Again. I highly enjoyed it reading it the second time around and I think people should give it a shot but not to the degree to drop what people are reading and prioritize it ASAP.
The DK Batman is pretty much my favorite batman character design, Ive never read it tho so if I pick the Dark Knight Returns absolute and this one Im good and dont need nothing more? right?
You are definitely good having those two absolutes. Just don't get turned off with DK2 .... try make through it because DK3 makes up for it.

I think “Master Race” is always a bit of a yikes thing to title anything but amazing production value regardless. I believe that you should branch out if your feeling burned out, you’re style lends itself to any comic IMO so I’d watch whatever you make. (Cover saga it’s fantastic!)

Better sampled it first through cheaper means first. I was disappointed with the content as I find it mainly dated the lettering was painful to the eyes and story was kinda cliched. But luckily I got it on trade.
I enjoy your videos and I appreciate the detailed reviews of the actual books, but your saying that Miller's art on DK2 was "rushed" and comparing it to Liefeld's is a big blunder. You may like it or not, but everything on DK2 was deliberate, from the more cartoony approach to the gaudy coloring. A bold artistic decision that, if you ask me, really paid off. And certainly, it is way above the generic Andy Kubert's art here on DKIII.

@@821lancevance To be blunt, Im not listening to that reader base because they are extremely Anti-Marvel and hence Anti-Bendis. Since the exclusive agreement was announced, all I heard from them was that how he doesn't deserve a flagship title and he needs to earn his way up in DC and they didn't want the Marvel Stink in DC. Personally, I quite enjoy his writing for Superman/Action/Legion/Young Justice.

I bought the first 4 issues when it was originally coming out. Didn't like it. I love the original series and I think I'll leave it at that.
If you have time and get this on the cheap (TPB) I would give it another shot as a single reading... has its moments towards the end.
The quality of the video is always excellent but this series was terrible and it boggles my mind that this was given the Absolute treatment.
A bit too soon but anything Miller gets priority over the rest...
