Used to sing this all the time for fun around the house. Now I can't do it without crying. You were the very best, Mordin. Had to be you, someone else would have gotten it wrong.
Mordin is awesome. There's no other salarian in either game that's even half as cool as him. His dialogues on inter-species intercourse are also funny as all hell.
Mordin is voiced by Micheal Beattie, who mostly does video game work now, but in the past worked on a lot of musical theater, film, and television productions, mostly a chorus member. Among these was a production of The Pirates of Penzance.
[Linked here from TVTropes] How the fuck is this a dethroning moment of suck? Its a Crowning Moment of HILARIOUS! (yeah, a little slower during the song, but its a fucking song, I bet Mordin is just going with the tempo; if he was singing Silent Night then yeah that'd be surprising, but this sounded just fine!)
I still want a longer performance of him doing Gilbert and Sullivan, this is one of the most amazing character details and ways of diverting from the classic egghead scientist trope in a video game
I miss listening to him talk to Eve in the med-bay. I kept asking Eve what she thought of Mordin over and over because I loved the little part where you hear him singing singing to himself. It was so adorbs. But now... ):
@selphiexfairy Literally every time someone praised Shepard for it, I was shouting at the tv "It wasn't her! It was MORDIN! She doesn't like you giving her the praise for something her friend died for!" And then I cried more.
I cracked up sooooooooooooooooooooo hard when I heard this. My brother told me that he could sing, but when I played it, my jaw nearly fell to the floor when he pulled this number.
The scarring is left over from the reconstructive surgery Cerberus performed to bring Shepherd back to life. There is a machine in the medical bay that can eliminate it but if you choose to keep it, it gets better or worse depending on the choices you make during the game. You get less scarred if you take the Paragon route, more scarred if you go Renegade. The idea is that as a good guy, Shepherd becomes more charming and as a bad guy, he becomes more intimidating and his face shows it.
If you want everyone to survive, aside from making all the upgrades and making everyone loyal, you need to do the following: Vents: Tali, Legion, or Kasumi Both fire teams: Miranda (she can do this even if non-loyal), Garrus, or Jacob Bubble: Samara, Morinth, or Jack For both your final team and the escort: your "squishies" (Mordin, Jack, Tali, Kasumi) Hold the line: Make sure that you have Garrus, Grunt, AND Zaeed all in place. Adding Jacob, Thane, and Legion also helps. Everyone should live.
love the last cough, and then you have shepard's pre-recorded response. That! That is going to be your response to what he just did. But loved this moment, one of the best in the game.
always love the awkward pause at the end xD
"I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian."
You sure are, buddy... you sure are. ='(
I love the pause after that, with Mordin awkward "ahem" and Shepard who's probably thinking "DAFUQ ?!"
Used to sing this all the time for fun around the house. Now I can't do it without crying. You were the very best, Mordin. Had to be you, someone else would have gotten it wrong.
Why? Why is there no dialog option to applaud?
Damn did you just pick like every rouge option possible? You know you're far on that path when Shepard's' eyes glow lol
This is one of my fondest memories of this game.
"I know that last part was important, but... You performed Gilbert and Sullivan?"
"thanks for sharing what you've learned, Mordin"
oh my god I'm crying
Favourite character
We'll always miss you Mordin. You're still the very model of a scientist Salarian. :')
I love how he just stands there awkwardly afterwards... and clears his throat
Mordin is awesome. There's no other salarian in either game that's even half as cool as him. His dialogues on inter-species intercourse are also funny as all hell.
Singing clears head, makes me more aware.
Always got time for Mordin one of the most interesting characters in the game!
The look of genuine interest on Shepard’s face is lovely.

When I found it, it was listed as an Ear Worm.
It is my opinion that the Tv tropes guy who listed this as a DMOS has a crappy opinion
Old as hell comment I know, but this moment was removed from dethroning moment of suck since you commented here.
3/5/12 R.I.P Mordin. You were the very model of a scientist salarian. You will be missed
I still want a longer performance of him doing Gilbert and Sullivan, this is one of the most amazing character details and ways of diverting from the classic egghead scientist trope in a video game
I love the gilbert and sullivan reference on pirates of penzance in this game. this is so freaking sweet i cant even begin to describe it
Happy N7 everyone!!!
I love this scene, it's just so out there. XD
I miss listening to him talk to Eve in the med-bay. I kept asking Eve what she thought of Mordin over and over because I loved the little part where you hear him singing singing to himself. It was so adorbs. But now... ):
I live near a beach, so every time I see a seashell, I think of Mordin :) Love him!!!!!
I frikkin love this guy. Had to google many times things he said, but damn, it was worth it.
@selphiexfairy Literally every time someone praised Shepard for it, I was shouting at the tv "It wasn't her! It was MORDIN! She doesn't like you giving her the praise for something her friend died for!" And then I cried more.
I got to this point just a few hours ago, it was a pleasant surprise. I really like Mordin he is totally awesome.
One of the best parts in the game and one of the reasons I like Mordin
"Thanks for sharing what you've learned, Mordin." Best ending to this conversation.
8D
Mordin's been my favourite character since i heard this song
I love this part! I saved it and watch it over and over again. It made me sad, because he died on my game.
That long, awkward silence at the end between them really caps it off.
I love the pause after he's finished.
I can't listen to this song without crying now
I wasn't expecting to like Mordin before I got him, but he's one of my favorite new characters.
This is full of win right here! Nothing like hearing/watching Mordin singing Modern Major-General in his own way. Gilbert and Sullivan FTW!!!!
The first time we heard it, we laughed. The last time we heard it, we cried.
It was the pause at the end that made it all worth it. xD
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite song on the Citadel.
I like the dynamic camera angles while hes singing
When I first saw this I laughed. The fact that he coughs at the end made it even better.
I love the silence at the end where he clears his throat, then shep casually says "thanks, bye"
@AGentofVillainous Hold the Line gets old fast, "A Scientist Salarian" never gets old!
him garrus and thane were some of my most favorite character's in the game
Playing Amnesia The dark descent at night, completely alone in the house. Lasted five minutes and then I came here for an hour.
F***ing amazing million dollar voice right here.
Mordin is by far my favorite ME2 character.
The cough at the end makes the moment worthwhile
Mordin is pretty awsome, he and Captain Kirrahe are my favorite salarians.
Eloquently spoken, entirely accurate.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I love the awkwardness at the end... Genius.
Thanks for sharing what you've learned, Mordin.
He should be the singer of the year 2010-2014
That awkward pause at the end made it aaaaaaaall worth it.
Now Showing on Citadel Broadway:
Mordin Solus, MD as the Scientist-Salarian
in...
The Scientists of the planet Penzance in the Hawking Eta.
...thanks for sharing what you've learned, Mordin.
i'm a bad person i kept replaying that song like 20 times before i moved on, it was a damn good song.
i love that awkward pause before he left.
Well....thanks for sharing what you've learned, Mordin.
Oh my god. This is now the greatest game ever. There are no others. Give that man the 10 thousand dollars.
Conversations with Mordin blew my mind. ;]
I cracked up sooooooooooooooooooooo hard when I heard this. My brother told me that he could sing, but when I played it, my jaw nearly fell to the floor when he pulled this number.
I love the awkward quiet in the end XD
This is what made me f*cking love Mordin's character.
Well this and a few other things too. :D
If Mordin was in American Idol, the Season would already be over by the time he starts singing.
Mordin is great comic relief... BioWare made a good move putting him in that role.
@Setzuo Mordin was an outlier of the general Salarian population. There will never be another like him.
We all did, good sir... We all did.
Beautiful.
i cant get the song out of my head! its catchy!
loved the awkward pause lol mordin is awesome
I love the awkward silence at the end.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
lmao, Modrin is great. This and his interspecies medical advice for Thane and Garrus are the best
I like how he coughs afterwards, like saying "Moving on..."
"I am the very model of a".......*Wipes away tears* Scientist Salarian
Yeah that was great. He was so mad. I love that you can't start a conversation with him after that.
The scarring is left over from the reconstructive surgery Cerberus performed to bring Shepherd back to life. That was funny, when I first saw that playing the game I just laughed for five minutes
Mordin....our friend, you truly are the very model of a scientist Salarian.
I randomly sang this song whilst out with my friends yesterday. They burst out laughing. XD

play this video in two browsers at the same time and try to sync them
it sounds so awesome when they sing together
This Scientist Salarian posthumously broke my rule while curing the Genophage.
love the last cough, and then you have shepard's pre-recorded response. That! That is going to be your response to what he just did. But loved this moment, one of the best in the game.
Thank you, Tali'Zorah. Compliment was most wonderful. Must do it more.
i didnt think it was possible to love Mordin more. I have been proven wrong. lol
O.o the moment he started singing I fliped out.
@Zack
No sir, that clarifies you as a Legend.
I watch this whenever I get depressed about not picking up the widow rifle on the collector ship.
I like how the cursor slowly moves to 'Goodbye' as if in an 'Okaaaaaaaayyy...' way.
You're welcome, Mordin. I was proud the model of a scientist Salarian was on my crew.
He's got a good voice, I'll give him that...
Mordin is the funniest character by a mile XD
hahaha I will! I'm replaying ME2... and it makes me a bit sad after having played ME3. Oh Mordin! You are fantastic!
This is one of my favorite scenes XD
I love the little cough at the end...
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite song on the Citadel.
Damn it Mordin! Why did you have to go?!! I wouldn't have got it wrong!!!!
I used to love this, now it just makes me sad...
