Youngins like to fish for little fish. Seems true anywhere in the world. When you grow up you'll be fishing for big fish. Don't worry. You'll get there lol
@alec krug Everyone has their own preferences. To be clear, we don't micro fish because we like catching small fish, necessarily. Most people that take micro fishing on to adulthood do it because they are interested in fish biodiversity and they have a species list. It just so happens that roughly 75% of all freshwater fish species in North America don't grow above 6 inches in length, so people trying to catch new species of fish for their lifelist have to do a lot of micro fishing to have a large species list. Between a 40 pound flathead and a tiny fish I have already caught? Flathead all day. 40lb flathead vs a rare micro fish species that is almost impossible to catch on hook and line and requires extensive research, time in the field, and patience to catch? Micros all day.
Growing up I had a creek behind my house that would run dry in the summer. I wish I had known about this to fish the small ponds that formed. They were always full of little babies

First of all, I am very happy that you got into micro fishing and ichthyology and wish you the best of luck! As for the photo tank, I found it on eBay. It was a tanago photo tank from japan and I got the last one. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any more for sale. However, there are a few alternatives. For one, you can actually make one using acrylic and caulk which could be a good option. For store-bought options, the ones I know of are from the nature conservatory (which are very expensive but have rulers), tenkarabum's smaller tank, or things like an ant farm, and a glass or acrylic box. Good luck with your micro fishing and Ichthyology, tight lines, and full photo tanks! :)
I am sorry for the confusion. Here is an explanation. There are two ways we can attach a tanago hook to your ultralight 1. The Simple approach: We can simply connect the line on the tanago hook directly to the line on your ultralight without the braid loop I talked about in the video. You can do this with any line connecting knot like a blood knot or double uni knot. However, the disadvantage of this approach is that you have to take the old rig off your ultralight whenever you want to switch to a tanago. The solution to this is... 2. The Loop approach: This is the method I described in this video and what I recommend. It uses the principle of the loop to loop connection, that is used in other parts of fishing. I made a video explaining it: ua-cam.com/video/MT-pauIbmAE/v-deo.html If you need more clarification, feel free to ask again and I can give some more examples. They don't really have specific names but the one I use can be found by going on amazon, aliexpress, or eBay and searching using keywords like, "carp fishing pole" or "tenkara rod"(this one is best used on amazon and you are looking for the ultra-cheap ones) After a bit of searching you be able to find something that works. After all, the only criteria you need is a lightweight, long rod that is preferably compact which almost all of them are. Good question and tight lines man!
I will definitely do some carp videos eventually, ecpecially since I do know that there are some 30's in nearby lakes. However, right now I am mostly focused on trying to catch as many new species as I can before winter comes. But once I catch most of the species in my area and when it hits winter more sprot fishing and carp fishing should be coming.
If you want to get some cheaper stuff and better gear look into uk pole rigs and pre tied hooks the floats are made to show the smallest movements and the hooks get so small you could mistake it for an eyelash. I catch stickleback and minnows between 1-2 inches on my local river using maggots or a bit of unfrozen shrimp i pinched off with my nails so i bet you would have a good time on the real light stuff
Yep, I fish for big fish all the time, and I’m 12. But on the one occasion I do micro-fish, I get a boomer appear out of nowhere and say Oi, ThAt AiNt ReAl FiShInG, wHaT aRe YoU eXpEcTiNg To CaTcH, a MiNnOw? And I just say, yes, actually!
That's hilarious. I guess different strokes for different folks lol. You know I don't think I have yet to have an encounter like that yet. Maybe one day haha.
Sadly no, but if you go ebay or aliexpress and type in something along the lines of "telescopic carp fishing pole" You should get tons of different options. Just make sure you look into the specifications before you buy one so that it is the right size and weight. Hope this helped!

I recommend 2.7-3.6m lengths
@@EBspeciesfishing thanks so much for your reply! i fish for minnows in the brook behind my house and catch very pretty blacknose dace. your channel inspires me!
Избыточное оборудование для микрофишинга. Спиннинг, катушка и прочее. Такого размера рыба ловится не менее удачно и короткой маховой удочкой, 1,5 метра длиной.
Вот, удочка с Али Экспресс, у автора, правильная👍
whatsthe name of that telescopic rod?
They don't really have specific names but the one I use can be found by going on amazon, aliexpress, or eBay and searching using keywords like, "carp fishing pole" or "tenkara rod"(this one is best used on amazon and you are looking for the ultra-cheap ones) After a bit of searching you be able to find something that works. After all, the only criteria you need is a lightweight, long rod that is preferably compact which almost all of them are. Good question and tight lines man!
You should check out course fishing
9:43 whats that fish the female with bluish shine?
That's an eastern mosquitofish
invizx is the line i use
Awesome I use ultimate hooks please do more carp videos
I will definitely do some carp videos eventually, ecpecially since I do know that there are some 30's in nearby lakes. However, right now I am mostly focused on trying to catch as many new species as I can before winter comes. But once I catch most of the species in my area and when it hits winter more sprot fishing and carp fishing should be coming.
@@EBspeciesfishing awesome you got me into micro fishing
Thats awesome! Good to see more people getting into this hobby!

@@benp1310 Good luck!

‼️👍👍👍
Great video. Got a link for that telescopic rod?
Sadly no, but if you go ebay or aliexpress and type in something along the lines of "telescopic carp fishing pole" You should get tons of different options. Just make sure you look into the specifications before you buy one so that it is the right size and weight. Hope this helped!
@@EBspeciesfishing I looked on tenkarabum and they aren't cheap. They look really nice though.
@@PeelingLine They are definitely very nice rods!

Gamakatzu c12 bm. Sz 30.
Just looked at them and those look like good micro hooks! Maybe not as small as a tanago, but they definitely have their purpose.
@@EBspeciesfishing yup. Tanagos are ridiculously small lol. But i fly fish. So these are my midge hooks😂
@@EBspeciesfishing 24 inch trout will bite and get pulled in by these hooks. Super strong. Sometimes trout will only eat the insect floating by... That bug might be supppper tiny, like a 30
Need another vid pleas
don't worry a new vid will be coming in time for chistmas with fishing included!
@@EBspeciesfishing what if you could try micro fishing WITH minnows
@@Goober523 that is a good idea! I have caught small bluegill on mosquitofish. However I am not sure if I will be able to do this any time soon. Most ultra tiny micro have hunkered down for the winter but I will see.
@@EBspeciesfishing well this time of the year is when the spotailed shiners in my creek come out and I catch them same with blunt nose minnows
@@Goober523 back in Indiana I wasn't finding any micros but I am not sure what it will be like here in Virginia. I will have to see...
Great video
