  • Time for the TimeMaster's very first oil change. The owner's manual recommends an oil change after the first five hours of use. I also clean out under the deck and sharpen the blades.

    I’ve found that using a short piece of flexible 1/2 inch irrigation pipe works great to drain the oil on my time master.
    I’d recommend also a hour meter/tach to keep track of maintenance and to ensure your motor is at the proper RPMs.

    Just got my Time Master today. Funny story....Got home and was ready to put that bad boy to work. Cranked him up and started mowing. All of a sudden the trimmings were going every where. Out the sides, top and back. I was like this can’t be right, this is how it mulches?!....and just continued to finish mowing. Come to find out my local dealer forgot to give me the damn mulch plug. I had the bag and side discharge but no plug. 🤦‍♂️

    1 quart is actually 32 oz. So if you started with a full quart you should only pour in oil until it’s at the 14oz line. If you started with a full quart you may have overfilled.

    FYI. I Clean my lawnmower after every time I cut the lawn, the reason I do this is because it is easier to hose to the grass off with water than using a scraper to scrap off grass from underneath, by using your your scraper you are also creating Scratches that later can possibly create rust under your lawnmower.
    This is just a friendly suggestion. Trying to help you save your investment. ✌️👍

    Quick question, but not about the sharpening or the oil change....On my mower, that flap in the back lasted about a year and a half. If I back up it gets turned or something and then starts splitting, and then part of it gets caught underneath. Next thing I knew I'm cutting pieces of the flap! I bought a new flap, but I'm hesitant about putting it on. Do you know why this would happen? Seems like an odd design! Thanks!

    Jimmy, thank you for the instructions. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering. I'm seriously thinking of buying this model at Home Depot. Do those blades come with the mower, and do you tilt and clean the bottom deck after each use? I ask this because I've always cleaned the bottom. I had a friend who never cleaned her mower and the deck became rusty and eventually created rust holes. Also, why did you sharpen the blades after 5 hours? Finally, since this video post, how do you like the mower so far? Good quality? Any issues? Thank you so much.

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 роки тому +2

      Yes the mower comes with mulching blades standard and they work very well. I choose to sharpen the blades several times throughout the season, and since I was changing the oil anyways, it was a good opportunity to just get it done. I actually just posted a full review if you like. It’s the most recent video on my channel. Happy to answer any other questions. Feel free to reach out anytime.

    Honest question, Can you change the oil like this with gas in the tank? Will there be any problems?

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 роки тому

      You can. But I wouldn't recommend it. If there is a leak in the cap or the cap isn't properly secured, then the gas will leak out when the mower is tipped, and there is also a chance of flooding the motor. Best to just do it on an empty tank and play it safe. You can even keep the mower upright and pump the oil out. I may try that in the future.

    Do you think it's better to change the oil in the fall, OR in the spring right before you start using it? I would think that would keep the oil fresher perhaps, not putting it in till you're about ready to use it. You don't actually sharpen the blade every time you change oil do you?
    Great video, thanks, keep posting any new discoveries, hacks, disappointments, repairs etc.
    I've only used mine about four times and it often makes slight rattling noise, not sure what is causing the ting ting ting ting ting, but without being able to diagnose it it's not easy to justify any repair service. Any idea what might be causing this?. Did you purchase the extended warranty? I never go for those things, having read that they are usually not worthwhile.

    Also you did not show nor tell the viewers how to DRAIN the oil. Kind of an important step to skip if you are going to do a video on changing the oil.

    A pressure washer with a 60° nozzle would have cleaned the underside of the mower deck in like 10 seconds. Work smarter, not harder.

    You’re grade for this job is a C-. No blade balancing was done, unless those are self balancing blades.. If so where can we buy a set?😂😂😂
