This man not only changed, but probably saved my life.
I discovered the framework Jordan describes in this video roughly 3 years ago following a breakdown.
Following self help on UA-cam, I quickly found Jordan's content and it resonated with me deeply.
This led me to the Understand Myself and Self Authoring program.
Leaving these breadcrumbs for anyone else a little further behind me on their own personal journey.

I came across one of Professor Jordan's videos around 2015. At first, I glanced at his face and suit and thought to myself : There is no way this is worth my time. Then he opened his mouth, and I have no words to describe the enormous impact he had in my development. He was and still is one of the primary father figures I have in my life. This man gave me all the answers I needed in my pursuit of happiness. This man pointed me in all the right directions at the right age. I was 14 then. I am 22 now, I own a car that I bought with cash, I will buy an apartment in cash, I am going to therapy weekly, and I am trying everyday to become a better version of myself. I met the girl of my dreams, and we are going to get married this year. I sincerely wish the best for anyone out there who is struggling. My message is never stop. I agree, face it, whatever it is you're afraid of or challenged by, not to suggest it's easy. I can tell you it will bring up feelings in you you'd generally rather not experience, causing you to want to reflexively avoid/evade the situation, but that's part of the process of getting *through it.* And beyond it. Truly an adventure of the inner kind.
It's my experience, and belief going forward, that these inner adventures produce the eventual experiences of deeper wellbeing, greater competence in engaging life, and developing higher advantages over our previous experience of our self.

      To face your fears ?

    • @larrykiehl2457
      @larrykiehl2457 8 місяців тому

@@romeowandrainbow1040 If the process of facing one's fears was put in a nutshell, e.g., to simply face one's fears, as it's been put for probably hundreds of years, what's psychologically required to make advances into and through some fearful area of one's life will be overlooked and missed.
It's psychologically more complex and complicated than the simplicity of some nutshell version of overcoming a fear. In my experience, personally and professionally, nearly *everyone* has no clue as to what's actually required in the process of "facing" one's fears as a means to overcome them; it's a central reason why so many new years resolutions fail to come to fruition; people view their giving up as just that, but in actuality they unwittingly weren't willing to face and deal with what comes up in themselves as they attempt to make a change.

Some adventures we go through involuntarily. Sometimes we are unable to be prepared, no matter how much we train to be. Taking care of someone for 21 years, then caring for them as you witness their horrific death, all the while experiencing the best and worst of friends and family during the hardest "adventure" of your life brings out a new reality in your personality entirely. You can't leave or escape the removal of your loved one's body, comprehend that they are now in a box, remember all of the important bits for the obit and funeral, help the kids say their good byes, and mourn the loss of the only person you have ever truly been yourself around. The only sanity comes in knowing that they are no longer suffering in excruciating physical and emotional pain and have gone on into heaven, because they believed in Christ's finished work of blood atonement on the cross. So you praise God, and plead with God, thanking Him for finally taking your loved one and asking for comfort through your tears. You know you will never be the same ever again and you will live out the rest of your days trying to honor the time you shared with your one true love.

    The hero's journey.
We use "hero" a lot in the modern era. To describe common soldiers, police officers and firefighters. To describe teachers. To describe simple parents.
It's over used, the word hero.
Every single person you will ever meet is engaged in a monumental struggle... and the hero is the person who survived their own bad luck and poor decisions with a sense of peace and with an outward affect of positive faith in oneself, and not in a magical sky daddy.
I admire Dr. Peterson, immensely, but I'm sensing he is struggling, himself (and why shouldn't he be, what with the plain persecution he has faced).
I hope he keeps fighting -- not just the woke mongers, but also against the basic human response to seek comfort from any and all who may offer support and encouragement.
He seems to be laying down with strange bedfellows of late.

I have an intense fear of frogs, and I live in a tropical climate surrounded by nature - frogs are everywhere. The sudden, intense panic is what I’m actually afraid of, so I avoided any possible encounter with the hoppy trigger and if one did surprise me, it caused a full flight response. I was so sick of being controlled by something so harmless. My husband told me to raise a tadpole and expose myself every day. Then, months later, a little frog was trapped on our porch. Something came over me and I pick it up in my hand and held it for about 10 minutes before letting him go outside. That experience was possible because of the voluntary exposure, and it definitely didn’t cure my phobia, but now I know I CAN have a pleasant experience with a frog. Now I know I CAN be brave and not succumb to panic. It’s a silly example, but he’s right - voluntary exposure did transform me in some way. 🐸

I turned predatory to solve my conflicts.

It was why most people didn't like me.

I think you are genius. Wise beyond your years, but I understand that with much knowledge comes sorrow. I listen to you speak and I wonder how much your head throbs with sorrow.

I wonder if this is how heroes are made. Could such a physiological transformation make a person into someone that is capable of heroic feats, like the Greek myths? What are the sum results of such a transformation?

man im guna be honest here. this is kind of a clip for those not involved in volatile environments. (AKA hell)
if kids from the hood heard this they might make the wrong decision in their life.
this may sound harsh , but its only my opinion. and i have a great respect for this man.
i listen to this man any chance i get. college lectures podcasts interviews u name it.
hell is not just passive suffering. hell is a serious consequence and can ruin your life forever.
it can ruin societies forever, communities forever. or rather should i just say a "really long time"
for that reason this clip escapes me and it also feels like it was said years ago and not in the current time.
unfortunately as kids we make mistakes that decide our futures
because of the structure of our nation and all the prejudice and polarization going on today.
its not like ohhh this kiddy version of hell , no,
people are facing serious damned if i do damned if i dont situations.
just to get judged in the end by their idols.... what say you for the "sharks" of the world.
who are these "sharks" you speak of??? i really want to know.

I have read Dante's Inferno several times.
    Some takeaways:
It's not Biblical. Dante was, mostly, getting revenge on the families that betrayed him in Florence.
The suffering is endured by souls. The flesh is gone.
They don't understand what is happening. They have no agency and can't change.

As Steve Miller sang in the 1977 Song -- Jet Airliner:
As I get on the 707
Ridin' high I got tears in my eyes
You know you got to go through hell
    Before you get to heaven
Times are so very different from when we went to Elementary School in the 70's. As far as I can tell aspects of a corporate-bureaucratic mentality have strangled our freedoms and left our children in danger of being raised as foolish slaves in The Technocracy.
The corporate world is raising a bunch of fools. These are the Extremists on the Right.
The bureaucratic world is raising a bunch of slaves. These are the Extremists on the Left.
As George Carlin once said, "You have the illusion of choice..."
The devil deceived Adam into thinking he had a choice. The Almighty gave us one COMMAND in the Garden of Eden - eat from the Tree of Life FIRST -- Just like The Virgin Mary.

Facing Hell, turn into the storm and command yourself. There's a lot i could say about Hell, but some things are better left unsaid. I will say this, however, most people end up surrounded by Hell one inch at a time. And Hell, wherever, however, and whenever you find yourself there, the way out is always one inch at a time.
Having said that, one must also recognize and acknowledge that some folks need to be tossed or ushered into Hell or places worse than hell. And yes, there are places worse than Hell.

It's crazy and insane, and inane, that some people don't even listen to him, but just judge him based on other people's judgments. He has so much wisdom and expertise! You actually do yourself a disservice if you never expose yourself to what this man has to say about psychology, the mind, and how to create a purposeful life.
