George Darling is a lot worse than in the Disney Animated Version. But Jason Isaac did a really good job playing George Darling in this version as he look and acts like a workaholic who can easily snap.
He also should've been nicer to his daughter after what she did, but I didn't see that in this video. All I saw was him yelling at her for what she did, even though it wasn't her fault.
As a kid I actually always saw this version of George as less mean and more level headed. Though now that you mention it, I realize he is definitely much nastier to nana when tying her to the lead outside. Where as the 2d animated one had a gentle tender moment alone with nana, apologizing to her for locking her up. Ultimately I love that this film follows the tradition of having the same actor play Mr. darling and captain hook. This of course also was done with Hans conried in the classic Disney version.
I feel bad for him now in this scene because I realize all of his reactions here stemmed from fear of losing his job and “ending up on the street” as he says in this scene

Dogs have been deployed routinely in police work since the mid-20th century, but the use of ‘K9s’ in crime detection stretches further back. One of the most iconic moments in CSI history was when Scotland Yard detectives attempted to use bloodhounds to track the killer known as ‘Jack the Ripper’. In the aftermath of the shocking murders of Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes, on 30 September 1888, fears in Whitechapel reached fever pitch. The public insisted that Scotland Yard consider using bloodhounds to capture the unknown killer terrorising their streets. With his reputation and career in jeopardy, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Charles Warren finally gave into pressure and contacted Edwin Brough, a well-regarded bloodhound breeder from Scarborough. Considered the ‘greatest living authority on the breed’, Edwin Brough had bred and trained thousands of hounds at his kennels. He arrived in London with his dogs, ready to test out his ‘canine detectives’.
George Darling acts like Simon Warr, James Williams, Tony Perry, and David Stanley from “That’ll Teach ‘Em”, Harold Buttowski, Glenn, Ms. Chicarelli, and Ms. Fitzpatrick from “Kick Buttowski”, Horrid Henry’s Dad, Dave Seville, Ms. Smith, Ms. Croner, and Officer Dangus from “ALVINNN!!! & The Chipumnks”, Mr. Bolhofner from “The Loud House”, Dennis Sr. And the Colonel from “Dennis the Menace & Gnasher”-2009, Howard Generic from “Bobby’s World”, and Benson from “Regular Show”

This is the reason why I have decided to hate Jason Isaacs, since I became tearful at his rage. I like nicer actors now, not actors who are rude to dogs. No one knew that the St. Bernard dog was used in the novel written by Stephen King and the movie about the breed, especially in all 4 of the movies about a family raising the dog with respect.
When you say “hate” Jason Isaacs, do you mean the character of George Darling because as mentioned it’s acting and animals are trained and this scene is supposed to make the audience uneasy and show how he is now and how the character will change later

Kudos to this film for an accurate portrayal of winters in London. The snow is a very thin wet dusty layer rather than a fluffy winter land.
As a banker who struggles with social anxiety and wants to move up the ladder to provide more for my family, this character really spoke to me.
